“American Fiction is a must-see.But before you do that.Read all of James Baldwin's books he wrote in the 40s and 60s. Those are the real stories!! The movie is trying to convey a small sample of what Baldwin went through. ? You would have to be pretty ridiculous to think you had nearly as much trouble getting published or funded as Baldwin. Read "Giovannis Room," "Sonny's Blues" ( it's worth every penny), a tiny used copy is $35. & "Go tell it on the mountain!" (So you really understand the position of the Christian Church on African American life since the beginning of the great movement to Northern States in the 1800s). So, actually forget movies all together! Just read!Baldwin grew up reading Dostoevsky first, which had a profound start on his education.Everyone needs to put down the remote and read. Every book by Nobakov, Camus, Dostoevsky, Baldwin, and Vonnegut. Then read Proust. Then jump around for a broad education: Iris Murdoch ( Under the Net) the best! And read "The Wasp Factory" and read Thomas Phychon. If you get through all their work... get back to me. I did in 3 years. I will be impressed that you jumped in head first.”

“Interesting place with multiple businesses on-site to include a large church that can make parking difficult on Sundays. One of the rooms doesn't have any seating, which is a bit of drag.”

“I had to pick my child up, and was booked into this hotel. Easy to get to, front desk staff was nice, rooms were very nice, much better than I expected. Close to a lot of restaurants, stores, and medical centers. We only needed to stay overnight, but the whole process was easy & ”

“Wowzers, what a disgusting establishment! We pulled off in here out of necessity as a really bad storm caught us on the road and I didn't feel like driving all the way to South Austin in near-zero visibility. First observation- they don't have any covered area for checking in and unloading your belongings to prevent you from getting drenched in a rainstorm. 1st world problems, I know, but still something I was a little surprised to see had not been included in the budget. So much so that I thought perhaps I had parked on the back side of the building and surely there was one around front. Nope. Next, the dinosaur at the front desk had a garbage attitude from the first rude comment and for the duration of our interaction. Maintained a disrespectful and hostile demeanor throughout. Seemed incredibly inconvenienced at our presence. While waiting in the lobby for him to do his job, the next thing I noticed was the "market" area, where most hotels peddle snacks and drinks for 5 times what they cost in a gas station, had completely barren shelves and was inaccessible to guests as it had been condemned by the city's health department for reasons unknown. When I asked where the lobby restroom was, he didn't even look up, he just snapped "OVER THERE" without gesturing or giving any indication of where "over there" was. And finally, when I did find the restroom, it was abysmal. Trash on the floor in several places, no toilet paper, no hand soap and obviously the 2nd most unsanitary area in the place, right behind the place where they used to serve food to unsuspecting visitors before they were shut down for something more than nothing. And the restroom was in this condition despite having an overnight employee who was literally doing absolutely nothing except sitting at a desk prior to our arrival and, who resumed his lifestyle of stagnation and effortlessly drawing a paycheck from someone who put their trust into his ability to preform at least the most basic tasks that he no doubt had agreed to do upon his hiring, before we had even left the lobby. He has no business dealing with actual people because his poor attitude and total lack of interest in assisting the people that he is paid to assist. I honestly haven't even gone up to look at the room yet. I felt the need to leave this incredibly lengthy review just based on what I've witnessed on the ground floor, if that tells you anything”
