About Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO)
The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) provides bus and rail service, including a specialized MetroLift service for those who cannot safely reach a regular bus stop. MetroLift offers door-to-door shared rides, accommodating wheelchairs securely, after an approval process that includes an interview at the downtown main building, which also serves as the Downtown Transit Center. Reviews note that employees and drivers are often described as helpful, kind, knowledgeable, and super safe. The service allows riders to be independent. While most experiences are positive, with one reviewer thanking drivers for their essential role, another mentioned a front counter that was not friendly. The system is appreciated for being a great way to get around Houston safely.

The southeast transit center has people drinking and peeing on the sidewalk in the open and people trying to sell themselves and harassing people and the metro police were there and did nothing

I just wanna say this was my first time in a long time that I took public transit and the ride I took today was so wonderful. The bus driver was the most helpful and friendly person. The bus was clean and comfortable. This was 279 block 552. Thank you for your services. I will definitely be a customer again.
