It's the kind of shop where you can spend a decent amount of time perusing and not get bored. I had to stop myself from buying everything. It's also really kid-friendly. They have a dedicated section for kids with lots of great books and toys. I have to say they have really good taste in everything they've picked and how they've designed everything in the store. They even have activities you can do for the kids. All in all, a very well-curated shop with great vibes that you should definitely check out if in McKinney Square.”

I also was able to find some good summer items like a strong sunblock, and beach/pool toys. Some items were over priced like a tiny travel size bottle of hemp lotion was $8 not great since you can put a little bit more with it and get a full size one.”

“Oh my goodness, one of the cutest little home boutiques I’ve visited in such a long time! I found Birds and Words in downtown McKinney, and I absolutely fell in love with it. The store is so beautifully curated, with so many unique pieces that feel vintage, whimsical, and nature-inspired — basically everything I love! 🐦🌿 There’s something interesting around every corner, and it’s the kind of store where you can spend quite a bit of time just looking at all the little details. It is a little on the expensive side, but honestly, the selection is so unique and thoughtfully curated that I can understand why. My friends and I ended up buying a few things, and I’m already thinking about what I’ll get the next time I visit. It’s a little far from me, otherwise I would probably be there all the time! 😂 But whenever I’m in the McKinney area, Birds and Words is definitely going to be on my list. “I haven't shopped at this Ross since 2008 when I worked at the shoe store next door. I unfortunately went on tax free weekend so it was ridiculously crowded inside the store. I wanted to go down the clothes aisle, but there were so many teenagers throwing clothes around and trying stuff on in the middle of the store that I passed. I did buy some Korean skincare beauty products, and pink Halloween decorations.”

CEO Bill Barton told analysts the company plans to open about 20 new stores in 2026 and sees a path to more than 500 locations by 2035, roughly two and a half times its current 209-store footprint across 26 states.
