“New to Houston and first-time in this store. Great experience. Very nice selection. Went in only to inquire about selling books. I'm a book hoarder. Did not intend to shop. Got the info I needed quickly. Could not help myself. Explored the clearance rack. Found the perfect cookbook, I didn't know I needed. For grins, wanted to see if they had books from an author in my hometown of Bastrop. Checked the philosophy section, nope. Got prompt friendly service from the clerk who checked the inventory. She walked me over to self-help section and they had three Ryan Holiday books. He's authored over 20 and not the one I wanted, so no purchase. Better for me to meet him in person and support his bookstore, anyway. But if you want lower cost... HPB is your stop. Can't wait to do a purge of my bookshelf and see how that goes.”

“I bought a very beautiful red and black chapel veil to wear to my mom's funeral. I got a lot of compliments on the veil from friends and family. Veritas is conveniently located in Houston with a large parking lot. You can get statuaries, prayer cards, books and other sacred items for sacrements and daily living. Veritas is a great old school book store.”
“Very friendly!! The woman we talked to was nice and there was a boy there that was so helpful in trying to help us find what we were looking for. It turns out it's also connected to the chabad and they even invited us to an event that night! They didn't have much Sephardic siddurs to shop for but thats okay, they had many books so we walked out with other stuff anyway. The chabad in my area is not very friendly so it was so nice to see the kindness they had and at the Houston chabad”
“I stop by here to browse when going to Seiwa, the Japanese grocery store. Appealing selection of a wide range of items. They have some shelves of books written in Japanese, which is rare to see in the US. I am especially interested to see that most items are vintage items from Japan, including video games and vinyl records; they also have an appealing selection of used books and comic books more similar to other used bookstores. Layout and organization are effective and it is a pleasant place to browse; hope to find something I like here.”

“I visited the store early in the day today and overall liked knowing the senior couple who manage the store. I was looking for activity-based games for children, on various topics of Islam. I am happy that I find some nice puzzles there. I also bought some pretty silver-plated necklace pendants.
The store does need some upgrading and maybe a quiet corner with floor cushions for reading books. I wish fellow Muslim brothers and sisters of neighboring area volunteer there!”
“Although I am not a student here (I attend LSU - in an MBA program), I was very impressed with this community / junior college campus. Looks like it's new or recently remodeled. Attended a Women N.O.W. conference luncheon regarding human sex-trafficking hosted by the Sociology Club and a professor Dr. Fonge. Met several amazing people and lunch was provided by Big 6 BBQ (food was amazing btw - I will have to try them out personally). Conference room where event was held was impressive. Nice stage, sound systems, and huge television monitors as well as projector screen. Great place to host a future SuperBowl party on campus!! Parking lot was huge but obviously extremely packed. They do have a multi-level parking garage so I'd recommend going straight there from the get go so you're not searching for an open spot. Would definitely return to attend future on-campus events in the future. The Sociology club there seems to have it together as the event was very organized and no mishaps derailed any part of this 4 hour event. Very professionally handled and orchestrated.”

“Winsheng Books & Gifts 永盛圖書百貨中藥行 is a great place to shop traditional gifts during Lunar New Year month. The store is full of goodies, including some hard to find gadgets, CD, magazines and books from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.Winseng offers red envelopes and Chinese greeting cards all year round. I don't have to wait until Lunar New Year to get them.”
