“The Adamant Coop is a charming little all-in-one shop/bakery/post office for the tiny town's residents - located in a historic house, and sitting at the intersection of about 4 dirt roads in what seems like the middle of nowhere. So how did I come to discover this local gem? Apparently most outsiders that stop in are lost and looking for directions (according to their website) - but exploring this little village has been on my bucket list for ages - so I deliberately sought it out and all bc of a movie I saw many years ago LOL! And based on the responses from the staff when I asked about the movie, I'm probably one of the only ones that's ever visited for that reason haha! The film was What Lies Beneath with Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford. One of the actors describes the town as "that artsy little village down 7" (meaning highway 7 - one of Vermont's main arteries)...and at one point in the movie, she goes to Adamant and explores a little - it looked adorable and who doesn't love an artsy village in the fall right? So I had to come see it - and the actual place IRL is nothing like the movie portrayed of course (thanks Hollywood :P) - and it's not even anywhere near Highway 7 - but that's bc they didn't even film it here haha!! Nonetheless- it was well worth the stop and I'm so glad it worked out the way it did! They have all sorts of treats and goodies and local arts and crafts - and it's such a cozy little shop in a beautiful setting surrounded by lakes, streams, and fall colors! Residents in the community take turns baking homemade goodies for the Coop to sell so I scored some gigantic ginger cookies...and just after I arrived, another local resident brought in a fresh pumpkin spice cake and was slicing it up so of course I had to get a piece of that too! All of it was amazing! I also grabbed some other snack items made locally - some street corn dip that was fantastic - ate every last bit of that on my trip and thought about coming back for more lol. And also a unique treat I'd never seen before - chocolate covered sunflower seeds!! Oh they were just wonderful - absolutely loved those! They also have jars of various locally grown and pickled veggies and such, as well as fresh brewed coffee and all sorts of local art pieces, jewelry, and even t-shirts! The Coop also serves as the town's post office. There's even a small park across the street right next to the little rushing brook with seating. It really is such a cute place - there's some cozy seating by their little wood-burning stove and the staff were just lovely to chat to. There's also a funny little bit of history about the town's name - originally it was named Sodom - and the pond across the street is still called Sodom Pond - but apparently one of the first preachers in the town (and a few other residents) refused to get their mail delivered to a town named Sodom so they were "adamant" about changing the name haha! Such an interesting little side adventure- if you're in the area, it's very much worth a stop!”

“Jess is great. She made every breakfast and lunch we needed for the 10 days we were visiting.the breakfast burritos were a highlight of our trip. This store carries just about anything you could need. Jess carries items from locals. Pottery. Tinctures and more. You won't be sorry you stopped.”

“My favorite store in Hardwick. Shelves are kept full. The focus is on healthy food and products. I don't enjoy their particular spiritual representation, however, I can say that all the folks are caring and quick to help.”

“We were there 7 months ago as tourists. We grabbed some maple syrup and a sandwich. The sandwich was large and extremely tasty.
I don't know why, but I loved the place. If you get a chance, stop in!”

“I am absolutely ecstatic about the new Owners and what they’ve done (and continue to do) at the store. Most importantly, they extended their hours and days, so I can stop in after work at 6:30pm, even at 7:30pm, plus they’re now open on Sunday !!!

They have a large, impressive selection of vape products, which I love! Unfortunately, I vape. I used to have to drive to Burlington or stock up on supplies when in NC, then fly home with them. That was a pain in the neck!!(the tsa agents got sick of it, too.)
Now, I drive 750ft to our local, neighborhood store and everything I need is right there!
I’m so thankful the new owners also kept the deli staff,!! The woman that runs the deli (and her grandson) do such a great job!! Everything is made from scratch and the subs are delicious!!
You won’t be disappointed at this store!! I can assure you of that. If you’re a wine or beer drinker, they have a very large selection!!

“Amazing selection of items! The staff is helpful and friendly, and the shelves well stocked. So happy to see they have the almond cheese I adore! The only negative imho is the strange set up of shelves that make it difficult to know where the checkout area is located. Seems like it should funnel you in that direction and it is confusing.”

“Wow, from a customer's view- I'd like to address a few of the more negative comments so as prospective customers aren't swayed by some of the negativity-
- cleanliness- don't confuse dirty for old- this is an older country store, but kept well, and food service, where it counts, is clean and tidy- The floors aren't new and there isn't five state of the art bathrooms with artwork hanging- if thats your thing you are in the wrong place to begin with. You are getting gas and a coffee, not attending a gallery opening.
Service- have some of the negative reviewers ever considered you may be the problem and not the workers? I've been coming here for 20 plus years, consider it one of my favorite stores, and can't really pick out a bad interaction- like anything else, maybe it goes both ways
Price- its a country / convenience store- I would imagine they can't compete with the walmarts of the world, its not cheap but I find it inline with any other operation of the type- yes prices have gone up, as they have everywhere
So to recap, great deli, great hours for a country store, great selection (from a sandwich, to fishing lures, to canning jars, to hardware, to gas, you get the idea), friendly service, and almost always run into a neighbor or friend to catch up with. Just go in with a reasonable attitude, don't expect it to be a new megamart, and I bet you will have a good experience.”

“Overall the best supermarket in the area. Fresh vegetables and good selection. Meat dept is also nice. The fish department has some good choices. Haddock and Cod cooked and refrigerated are also tasty. Avoid the “honey fried shrimp” ; way too much sugar and batter.
Employees are friendly and checking out is faster than Shaws. There’s room for improvement for sure. The COOP still has the best deli. But the Chopper is the best overall.”
