“Fox Market joins a growing club of excellent coffee offerings in the greater Montpelier area, each of them offering something unique to the space. When you arrive at Fox Market, you might get yourself a home-made pop tart, some local chocolates, and a hot sauce with a funky label that caught your attention to try when you get home. Doni will take your order - a Cortado, for me - and Liv might chat with you while you wait. You'll look around, and if you're like me - not too bright, and not too observant, it'll start to dawn on you. The pride flag in the front should have given it away, but this place is pretty queer. I took my cortado and went upstairs, watching a few cats play in the grass from the window seat (cushioned!). I pulled out my laptop and did a little bit of work. When it was time to go, I had several stickers of rodents screaming various quips, a button extolling the joys of neuro-spice, a sailor moon themed can of soda, and a few other baubles from the coin-accepting bauble dispenser. I only meant to get a coffee, but who am I kidding, I like it.”

“Wow, from a customer's view- I'd like to address a few of the more negative comments so as prospective customers aren't swayed by some of the negativity- - cleanliness- don't confuse dirty for old- this is an older country store, but kept well, and food service, where it counts, is clean and tidy- The floors aren't new and there isn't five state of the art bathrooms with artwork hanging- if thats your thing you are in the wrong place to begin with. You are getting gas and a coffee, not attending a gallery opening. Service- have some of the negative reviewers ever considered you may be the problem and not the workers? I've been coming here for 20 plus years, consider it one of my favorite stores, and can't really pick out a bad interaction- like anything else, maybe it goes both ways Price- its a country / convenience store- I would imagine they can't compete with the walmarts of the world, its not cheap but I find it inline with any other operation of the type- yes prices have gone up, as they have everywhere So to recap, great deli, great hours for a country store, great selection (from a sandwich, to fishing lures, to canning jars, to hardware, to gas, you get the idea), friendly service, and almost always run into a neighbor or friend to catch up with. Just go in with a reasonable attitude, don't expect it to be a new megamart, and I bet you will have a good experience.”
Walmart wants your groceries at the door before the ice cream softens. On May 29, the retailer said its 30-minute-or-less delivery had reached 33 U.S. markets, adding a wave of new cities across the Northeast. Shoppers in those areas can order from more than 100,000 items, everything from fresh produce and baby formula to pet food, electronics, cold medicine, and prescriptions. Behind the scenes, the service leans on Walmart's store network and an algorithm that factors in order size, available drivers, and distance from the store.
Trader Joe's keeps adding stores, and shoppers keep showing up. The California grocer has marked nine more locations as "opening soon," pushing its expansion into new corners of the country. The grocer also took first place in the American Customer Satisfaction Index's 2026 supermarket rankings. It has held a spot near the top of that list for years.
Target is rolling out its most ambitious store overhaul in more than ten years, with plans to remodel over 130 locations and open 30 new stores across the country this year. The retailer is also putting money into supply chain technology upgrades to keep pace with how shoppers buy today.
Kroger is spending $112 million to build two new stores and renovate 15 existing locations across central and northwest Ohio. The company calls it a "record-breaking" commitment to the region. The two new Kroger Marketplace stores will rise in Canal Winchester and Delaware, Ohio, each costing roughly $30 million to build. Kroger broke ground on the Canal Winchester location on March 19 at the southeast corner of Diley Road and Greengate Boulevard. The 118,000-square-foot store is expected to open in late fall 2026 and will create around 250 jobs.
Loblaw Companies Limited is putting serious money into its retail network this year. Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer announced it will spend $2.4 billion in 2026 to open new stores, renovate existing locations and strengthen its supply chain. The company plans to open 70 new stores in 2026. That includes 34 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix pharmacies and care clinics, along with 31 hard-discount No Frills and Maxi grocery stores. On top of the new openings, Loblaw will renovate another 191 stores and continue construction on a roughly 1.2 million-square-foot automated distribution center in Caledon, Ontario.
