Went for my VA inspection last week and failed due to rust on both rear rotors. The place that failed my inspection quoted me $650 to replace the rear rotors that day. That felt... high.
I did some research and Blue Nile came up as a reputable, well reviewed mechanic. I called and asked if they would install parts if I supplied them, and they said they would and quoted me $140 for the work.
To find and buy the parts, I used Rock Auto, an online parts distributor. Their website is pretty simple; asked for my make, model, and year, then gave me a list to choose from. Took about five minutes to find and order what I needed.
Called back and let them know the parts were expected to arrive Wednesday, guy on the phone told me to call the day before I come in.
Took me maybe 20 minutes to call, go find and order parts, and call back.
Shipment came in a few days later, I called and let Blue Nile know I was coming in the next day. Was told to show up at 9 AM. Arrived 9 AM the next day with the shipment box in my passenger side seat, went into the office, filled out a sheet with some basic contact information and handed my key over.
Was told 1-2 hours, so I walked over the the nearby shopping center. About 45 minutes later they called me and told me they were having trouble getting the lock nuts off and they would need to either not do the replacement or break them off. I asked how much it would be to remove them and was told it cost nothing and the nuts are a few dollars for each. I said to go ahead and break them off, do the replacement.
About an hour later it was done. They didn't charge me for the nuts or the additional service. I paid, got the keys, and was off. Went back to get a reinspection and passed without issue.
I liked that they were willing to install parts I provided myself. I'm sure they would have been fair on a quote if they procured them, but I like not having to worry about it. Did good work and saved me $440. Blue Nile is my personal recommendation for now.”

He worked with my budget and tried not to overwhelm me as these repairs were something I was not financially prepared for. “Sheriff and team are truly amazing and this is really the only place that I truly trust outside of the dealership to service my car. The first time I came was after a minor accident in which I lost a fender and messed up my paint. They fixed it in two days and the price was more than fair/reasonable. When I got my car back it looked like new AND it was cleaned. I came back a couple weeks later for an oil change and for a safety/emissions inspection. They do not offer safety/emissions inspections but offered to get it taken else where. They made sure that whatever work was needed to pass got done and again the prices were reasonable.
I really only see myself brining my car to A2Z outside of the dealership and am so grateful to the team and to Sheriff for the quality of service and the amazing customer experience that they provide.”

“Not happy with how this experience has been. Will update my review if Midas makes it right..
First of all was told to come pickup my vehicle because there was nothing they could really do for the exhaust work that needed done, once I came to pickup the tech actually said he COULD fix it so I wasted money ubering to shop to pickup since the tech ended up keeping the vehicle to fix (props to the tech). After all work is done I come to pickup to take van to another shop to get state inspection done and that shop calls me to tell me the hood is stuck shut and won’t open so whatever Midas did screwed up the hood. It’s now at another shop getting hood fixed.
Update: Midas has remedied the situation. Speak with Amanda if you have any issues!”

I brought it to Midas, which has a welder and capability to make custom parts at 8:30 am on a Monday without an appointment and they fixed the problem and I drove out at 2:30 the same day. Wayne was my service manager and he couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. I really appreciate the responsiveness and expertise. Without it, I would have been completely out of luck.”
