“Update After Checkout: Though I stand by my various areas for improvement, I’m updating my review from 2-stars to 4 for a few reasons: 1) our stay improved after that first day, including having the internet working flawlessly the last two days of our stay. 2) our room, and the hotel overall, were actually very nice (though the lack of attention to the various details I highlight below still were surprising for a property of this quality). 3) the front desk manager Adam went out of his way to make up for the various issues we were having and ensured our stay improved after those first 36 hours. His responsiveness to our concerns made a big difference. Original review: This supposed 4-star property isn’t yet ready for prime time. I’m staying here now and we’ve had a terrible experience, despite staying in one of the nicest rooms available (a one bedroom suite on the top floor). Where to begin…perhaps with the internet that has maybe worked 2 hours out of our 36 here so far. Or how about the bait-and-switch “Autumn special” that included breakfast when we booked, but failed to mention that the restaurant isn’t yet open for breakfast so what’s included is coffee and a croissant at the coffee shop off the lobby. Add that to the terrible tv interface in the rooms that claims to allow casting from your favorite streaming service but doesn’t work, no towels or cups for water in the gym, no place to get ice or fill water bottles on the floor, only one towel hook in our enormous bathroom, meaning one of us has to leave our wet towel draped over a chair in the room, etc., and you get a hotel that looks nice, but fails at so many important details that makes a good hotel stay. Oh, and the hotel is far away from the sites and action in Alexandria. Won’t be staying here again and will be asking for a refund for our special “breakfast” package so we can use that money on a real breakfast elsewhere.”

“Had a very nice stay at this hotel! It was the most convenient location for visiting Mt. Vernon, and the area itself was very safe and quiet. We also found it to be a convenient location for visiting Manassas Battlefield and D.C. on the same trip, with excellent options for alternate routes to avoid the D.C. traffic on the highways. The room itself was very clean and the beds/pillows were very comfortable. The free breakfast wasn’t anything to write home about but was decent enough.”

“BW plus Richmond Hwy has a beautiful building in a shopping area. McDonald's next door. Art Massage next to that, and many restaurants there's even a bbq courtyard out back of BW Plus. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Best I can find for the cost. Hot and cold choices for breakfast in a huge cafeteria. Relax in a padded booth, eat your delicious free breakfast and watch local news.... knowing how close you are to DC. Bus stops heading to either Franconia-Springfield or Huntington metro stations are right out front too. When I come back, I may rent a car because parking is free too.”

“9/2026 4 star: we returned to the hotel and had a much better stay this time. I’m guessing they had time to get their operations in order and everything was much smoother. The parking went up to $45 valet which is still insane but we like the smallness of the hotel, its location and the staff were very nice. 2/2026 2 star: This was a disappointing stay. The Archer bought out another hotel and updated it to add to their portfolio. We moved to this hotel from their three star hotel in Falls Church to be closer to our son. We had a better quality experience in the 3 star. They forgot to give us the $25 coupon to use in either of the two restaurants so on our last day when we had breakfast we were told we needed it and lost out. They didn’t replace the coffee or cups one day, they didn’t replace the glassware the next day. We requested a top sheet to be added to our bedding instead of just the duvet and they left it on top of the bed so we had to pull the bed apart and add it ourselves. We requested extra pillows and did not receive them. The 24 square foot bathroom and large entryway were nice to have but overkill as it made the living room space super small and tight placing it on an angle. They only had one sink in a massive space. They didn’t provide the bathroom amenities that the 3 star did. Parking was $40 per day something I think was excessive. They provide an umbrella in the very small and hard to access closet located in the bedroom itself along with a small refrigerator. They provides a small candy or fortune cookie two of the three days we were there. The location was great and nice to be able to walk to the shops and restaurants along King street and the courtyard was beautiful although due to weather we were not able to enjoy it. I hope they tighten up the housekeeping and services because it has better potential.”

“I stayed here for a conference that was at the hotel. There are a lot of nice little touches, such as a nighttime lavender oil by the bedside (pictured), a cozy robe, and nice toiletries. The front desk and housekeeping staff go above and beyond. And it is a nice, walkable neighborhood that is close to the restaurants, coffee, and the train.”

“My family and I had the best time at this Hilton Garden Inn on the 4th of July. The hotel hosted a rooftop for America 250 with a view of the Freedom 250 Fireworks. Everything was wonderful. The rooftop has amazing views of Alexandria and beyond. Thank you to TJ for telling us about the event at his hotel and thank you to Harry, Louise, Laura and the whole crew for making the night memorable. This hotel is so nice, we plan to come back and do a “staycaction” in Old Town at this Hilton Garden Inn in the near future. While there is no self-parking, there are plenty of garages and street parking.”

“Hyatt Centric Old Town Alexandria, Virginia When Bruce Springsteen announced he and the E Street Band would be performing at Nationals Stadium in D.C., I reached out to family and friends to see if they could be in town for the show. When my sister responded that she could make the show I immediately looked for a hotel in Old Town Alexandria (VA). I've lived in Alexandria for 14 years and believe we're well served by the hotels operating locally. Because she would be arriving from New York on Amtrak, I looked for hotels in Alexandria that are within walking distance of the King Street Metro station. There’s an Embassy Suites, a Hampton Inn, a Hilton, and a Hyatt Centric, all within a five-minute walk from the Metro station. Right from the start the experience was a good one. My reservation was quickly recognized, as was my membership in the World of Hyatt, Hyatt’s loyalty program. I was able to cover the cost of two nights ($580.92, including taxes, total for the two nights) when I checked my sister into the hotel. The hotel is perfectly located for using the Metro bus and rail lines (a five minute walk to Metro’s Yellow and Blue lines and bus lines) – including the bus that will take you across the river to the MGM Grand Hotel in Oxon Hill, Maryland. There’s also a free bus and trolley circulator and free DASH buses that all share a bus stop directly across the street from the hotel. The bar is well stocked and staffed by friendly and courteous bar staff. There’s a valet service (best to check first about the cost – I think it was $45 per night but I didn’t need it so I’m not sure I have the price right). The Hyatt Centric Old Town is probably the newest of the national brand hotels located near the King Street Metro station. It’s clean, reasonably priced for the area, and as far as I can tell it’s a safe and secure option for visitors to the DMV (District, Maryland, and Virginia).”

The lady that worked 10/02/2020 around 7-9pm very nice and helpful one of the best comfort inns I've stayed at- better than the in springfield va on loisdale drive or road maybe( the one across from springfield mall)- very clean smelled cleaned- looks up-to-date- bathroom very nice and clean as well! Probably will stay again next time I'm in the area!”

(However, for fragrance free needs, be aware that halls/lobby are highly scented.) The location is also great if you are visiting Mt. Vernon.”

She was great to talk with (very friendly). The only negative was that you can't park right in front of your room.”

“Was skeptical after reading all the negative reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Room was larger and nicer than expected. Everything went very smooth. Room was quiet and clean. Check in and check out was a breeze. Was happy to return to a serviced clean room with bed made which seems to becoming less common at hotels these days.”
