“I've been a gold class member here for about two months, and thankfully I have been more motivated than in the past. It works for me because they are located on my route to work, so I'm able to hop over here before work. They open at 5am which is very convenient in that regard. I rolled in this morning on this extended holiday weekend, and there was barely a soul in the gym. This isn't usually the case, but I didn't mind. I typically stick with the stair master machine and several of the chest and abdominal workout machines. My body appreciates it! Also, I've never had a wait issue, and 9 times out of 10 I'm able to hop right onto the machine that I need”

Every coach was very supportive and helpful and every CFer is also friendly and helpful to others. When I joined CrossFit Route 7 I was immediately impressed with how friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive the coaches are. The CrossFitters there are passionate and kind, and they always make you feel welcome. Unfortunately I had to leave the gym do to life circumstances, but the owners were extremely generous and gracious about my situation. We need more CrossFit gyms like this one.”

“I just loved how cool stepping into the F45 gym felt. When you walk in your right inside the gym. Everything is well organized and the lighting and colors are on point. There are towels available for your workout. The instructor early Thursday morning 4/18 was so nice and welcoming. She did a great job demonstrating each move and checking on everyone’s form consistently. I was able to get my 45 minutes in, take a shower (with tons of supplies) and walk out ready to start my shift at work.”

“When I came to Foundation Fitness it was the first time I had ever walked into a gym. The twice weekly sessions have been terrific. Ester is so very good at what she does. She is very focused on form and provides excellent feedback to be sure I am doing the exercises correctly and getting the most out of them. Ester is encouraging and positive and just a pleasant person to be around. There are never more than a few people training at any given time and everyone is very friendly. CJ (owner) is very responsive if you ever need anything. I am so grateful to have found this gym and to have been connected with Ester.”

“I was hesitant to try out a workout class but decided to take advantage of the free week trial. With just 2 classes I was hooked! I started at E60 after having a baby and wanted to rebuild strength. I have been taking classes 2-3x/week for 4 months and feel stronger than I've ever been! I love the class structure - it's great to go to a workout where I don't have to think or plan because it's all done for me. It feels like a fun group setting where you have your own personal trainer and can go at your own pace and weight. These classes are the fastest hour of my day!”

“I travel cross country for work so I frequently and most often use my membership for showering. This is a really nice gym and it was super clean! I could not find the parking garage people speak of but I was able to find a pay parking spot which I was lucky was free cause it was night time. One of the best showers I've ever had! Clean, hot water! I will definitely be stopping here again when I'm in town.”

“I’ve been an Orangetheory member since 2018 and have tried several home studios over the years—but Dunn Loring is hands-down my favorite! The coaches are all incredible in their own unique way: some check in with you after class even if you're not new, others sprint up and down the gym to cheer you on during your treadmill block, some could easily be motivational speakers, and a few will have you laughing your way through the workout. No matter who’s coaching, you always feel encouraged and challenged.

The front desk staff is just as amazing—friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything you need. The whole team creates a great community. I highly recommend giving OTF Dunn Loring a try!”

“There are lots of CrossFit Gyms in the Northern Virginia area. What makes Sand and Steel stand out above others is the coaching and care they provide to the members. They just don't throw you in to workouts and expect you to figure things out.Instead, Paul, Dawn, and the rest of the coaching staff take their time to make sure you scale appropriately. The coaches make sure you work on mobility and nutrition, along with your workout. In my case, I have had a series of prior injuries, and moreover, I had consistent cramping and dehydration problems during workouts. No matter what supplements I took or how much water I drank, I would get light-headed, and my muscles would cramp. In short, my body simply refused to hold water. For years, I thought there was something medically wrong with me.Paul recommended a great supplement as a pre-workout, and then the cramping was gone. Like Magic. Now, my conditioning, strength, and overall performance greatly improved.So, like I said before... coaching makes a huge difference. This gym comes highly recommended.”

“I have been a client at XBA since 2021 and have taken about 4 classes a week every week since then. It is a kind, positive, and friendly place for everyone, where you will feel supported on your fitness journey no matter what you look like or what your goals are. XBA clients are a diverse group of mostly women (and some men) ranging from 20ish to 70+. XBA really has something for everyone.

First - the workouts. From classic barre classes (which include strengthening/toning, flexibility, and cardio elements), to trampoline fitness classes (which include low-impact but intense cardio with weights and toning mixed in), to bootcamp-style HIIT, pilates-inspired toning, and TRX, there's a class for everyone. The classes are challenging no matter how fit you are, but can be adapted for any fitness level. I was totally out of shape, could barely walk for ten minutes recovering from surgery when I started at XBA. I think I've been so consistent because I am never bored; there's a huge variety of classes, and the classes themselves move fast, change up the movements, and keep me entertained. It's amazing how far I've come and now in my 40s I'm the fittest I've ever been.

I also want to mention that I am disabled and have had nothing but good experiences at XBA, and I have taken classes with all the instructors. Not all of these instructors are specially trained in adapting exercises, but they are all accommodating and welcoming. It can be scary as a disabled person to try new gyms and studios, and while XBA doesn't directly market itself this way, I find it to be very disability friendly and would recommend it. No one at XBA has ever made me feel like a burden or an annoyance, which is unfortunately a very common experience for disabled people in the fitness world.

You can definitely come just to work out - you'll be warmly welcomed, sweat your booty off, and you can head right out and forget about XBA until your next workout. But XBA is also a community where you can make close friends who live in the neighborhood and share interests beyond fitness. XBA regulars see each other nearly every day and form strong friendships that extend beyond the studio. It's hard to make friends as an adult and I met most of my closest friends in the area at XBA. If you like working out and you're looking to make new friends, XBA is a great place for you.”
