“Such an interesting place. 200 years of history in one location. I believe this is the oldest continuously operated grocery store. Sam or Sambo as my best friend who was raised here calls him, has 60 years of local knowledge and store entrepreneurship under his keen eyes. As a Oklahoma resident a constant thing to hear is “I know someone from Oklahoma.” This is true no matter I ride to. It was true with Sam as well. The selection is small here but not the history. Get a Coke and Candy bar and chat Sam up. You won’t be disappointed. The lazy Pug greeter will be your first stop.”
“Beautiful state park . I really enjoyed my hike here . I loved the steps down to the water fall but I semi died going back up, haha. I can't wait to get back out and try some of the other hikes . It's only a 1.5 hour ride from Charlotte . I'm hoping for a nice winter to get back out and do some more nature activities!”
“I simply cannot put into words how much I love this store. They have it all - fresh produce, canned and dry goods, candy, coffee, antiques, candles, furniture - you name it. The staff is friendly and the store is very inviting. As a fan of old fashioned general stores, Hillmont Mercantile is in my top 3 for sure.”
“Drove down the lake to get gas, was able to pull right up and pump and pay no problem.Took a few minutes to go to the shop with my wife and daughter, had a great assortment of things if you're staying a night or two, plus hand dipped ice cream! Also saw they sell live minnows if you're fishing on the lake.While I was checking things out I dropped my credit card. I looked but didn't see it. I notified the staff, and left. Came in a few days later and they remembered me, they said they found it right after I walked out and tried to chase me down, but we had already left. Very kind folks, and honest enough to hold on to my credit card for me.Next time I'm in town, I'll be sure to stop by again, and will definitely get some ice cream.”
“Love the hotdogs & hamburgers (has grill w/ choices). Offers a gambling/entertainment room & of course all the other usuals you'd find at a gas station/convenient store.”
“This particular Food Lion is in Pulaski Va an area that I do not venture to very much!! Not that there is anything wrong with Pulaski Va or the Food Lion there I just personally prefer to shop at the Food Lion(s) closer to my apartment! But if you ever find yourself in Pulaski Va and need a grocery store you definitely should go to Food Lion. It’s a clean well kept and well stocked store and the people are friendly and helpful! And it’s A LOT cheaper than its counterpart right across the street the ginormous Food City. ?. Although if it were me…? I’d definitely want to spend less and go to Food Lion!! ?”
“did not have St. Patty items at all grabbed some snacks to take to work for Friday. First time being in here since they built the place there is also another yellow dollar on Rt 100”
“I haven't been in this store for some time because of their limited variety of products.
Well knock me down? They seem to have expanded their product line! I bought Hagen Daz ice cream and a propane cylinder for my cabin.
Add some Glutin-Free products for my wife's diet and you'll see my smiling face a lot more often.”
“This store has always been clean and customer friendly as you can find what your looking for exactly where you think it should be. Great service as well, with a smile and a "HAVE A GOOD DAY" as you're going out the door.”

“Other than not having any kind of suitable tray for packaging to put more than one donut in. The store was clean, well lit, and people all around that were working at the store. Only one office type staff saw me struggling w donuts and offered to help to try and find a package to put Donuts in.”

“When I come into the store all the staff makes me feel welcome with a hi how are you today and even when I check out they are very nice because they talk with me while I'm getting check out especially Alicia she's very nice and polite and so is all the staff also that's why I like coming to the store because I feel welcome there”
