“Coming from a soccer background, I missed the team spirit once I was done playing college soccer. Working out at a regular gym never brought the same joy and workout I was being used to. After starting at Gargoyle, I finally found a gym where I can get in a great workout and a community that cheers each other on. The coaches put a lot of effort into creating workouts for all levels of fitness and they want to make sure you reach your individual fitness goals. I cannot see myself going back to a regular gym after starting at Gargoyle. If you are considering starting working out I highly recommend Gargoyle.”

“After years (and years) of searching for a gym home, I was finally able to find one at Town Athletics. It’s the best gym I’ve ever been a part of. Most of that is due to the people. The coaching staff is incredibly knowledgeable and the others that train there made me feel like part of their community. Town was a highlight of my time in Tacoma, I will miss that place.”

“I've been attending F45 now for 8 months. The classes have all been challenging and most importantly fun. If you're looking for high intensity, great motivating coaches and killer workouts, I would highly recommend you try F45. No workout is the same, each day is different. If you're looking for lifting days they have specific days for that, same goes for cardio, my personal favorite would be Saturdays which is a mix of both and those workouts are 1 hour long! The rest of the week are 45 minutes. If you can't make it in to the gym, or you're traveling, their app offers "At Home Workouts" which you can easily access and get a great burner workout in from wherever you're at. I personally feel that anyone at any fitness level can get through an F45 workout, as you can make your workout as challenging or as easy as you want. Coaches are great in showing you any modifications if need be. Me being a visual person, I love that you can track your progress with their heart rate monitors. You can see live, in class, where you're heart rate percentage is and you receive a status performance report at the end of class that breaks everything down for you, from how many points you've earned in that session to how many calories you've burned that day, that week, the month and the entire year. Also, they have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to membership and "one time deals", which is great for new members. Do not hesitate to try F45, I have never walked out of a class regretting a workout I've completed and I'm more than positive you won't too. Your only job is to sign up and show up, the coaches will get you through the rest! Let's GO!!!!”

“Its been a couple months since i started at the roost. It’s hard for me to adapt to a new place but i've been enjoying the journey at their place. The program is amazing and the coaches i've been in contact with are really dedicated and cared about you. The enviroment is nice and I like it when i go beyond my limits, so far I feel great about this place :)”

“This place is 5*. Great coaches and people. I go for the "crossfit" style HIIT workouts they have during the day. What I like about Tacoma Strength is they focus more on Olympic lifting with less of the weird "hand stand pushup" type crossfit exercises in their HIIT classes. The saturday class is the best.”

“I’ve taken my daughter to a couple MMA gyms & am very happy with PEAK MMA. Not only are the classes affordable, but the coaches (and owners) are very involved & enthusiastic with the kids. There’s always several coaches working with the kids at all times & they’re all very accommodating to different skill levels. The environment is super positive & just fun overall. The adult kickboxing classes are also really fun & I enjoyed doing them when I had free time. Definitely a good work out & you will not be disappointed!!”

“Amazing CrossFit gym. I may be biased, but I still claim it: best CF gym in Tacoma (no disrespect to the other great boxes in the area). The coaches are top notch, well-verses and highly skilled at all movements - from barbell exercises to all the body weight training CF employs.RCF provides a clean gym with tons of equipment, it’s centrally located in Tacoma, and the environment is welcoming, open, and challenging.I’ve made a bunch of great friends here on my journey, and as a proud member of this gym I can’t recommend it enough. You may think the workouts are too challenging, but they’re scalable. We have members of all genders, sexual orientation, various ethnicities - we’re a diverse community!What I love most is the expertise of the coaches. They’re highly trained, and are patient and encouraging. When I started a year and 1/2 ago, I could barely lift a barbell. “I have been going to Taiso for almost four years now, and I cannot say enough positive things about this gym. Butch and Jennifer are encouraging and enthusiastic about the work they do--they're also both just really phenomenal people all around. It is a safe environment where you can come as you are, and you will quickly feel like you are a part of a big family. Many of the folks there have become my lifelong friends. Plus, the classes are amazing--you will definitely be challenged if you put the effort in, and it honestly feels like grown-up gym class (without the awkwardness). Cannot recommend Taiso enough.”

“Well-equipped climbing gym with decent route setting. A bit dusty and grimy, but there’s a tight climbing community here. Good gym to top up your fitness while in Tacoma. This gym is definitely better equipped for bouldering rather than roped climbing.”

“I had never done CrossFit before, but I was looking for a way to build up my strength and endurance and just move my body. From my first trial class, I have found Hooligan to be welcoming and encouraging.I really appreciated the 3 fundamentals classes to get familiar with the most common exercises, they taught me how to do the moves safely, and how to scale for myself as needed.The coaches are great at working to provide scaling and adaptations for my abilities.Everyone I've interacted with has been very friendly.”

“Even though I haven’t always been a consistent member of Vie, I have been around since the first location in Puyallup and remember Amber was coaching back then. She has always been kind and super helpful, but I can say that about every coach I have encountered. I typically go to Tacoma location and now the beautiful U.P. location. The workouts are always different and I always get a good sweat in. You can modify as you like. Their facilities are beautiful and can’t say enough about their coaches. Yesterday, we had a full class, and Coach Mindy introduced the new comers, which was cool. I love that this is a woman’s only gym. Amber, keep doing what you’re doing with your business. This is a small business that I will always support and recommend to others.”

“I used to like this gym....was working on getting my body back postpartum. However, they changed their policies on bringing babies in strollers to the gym and now you either have to pay $19 a month on top of your platinum membership for kids club (which is only on weekday mornings until 1) or not bring your child to the gym. It doesn't work for me as a working mom and student. I think the child free crowd will be happy but they will lose a lot of clients who are parents of babies! Also they plan on taking our annual fee and monthly fee out before letting us cancel. The owner is supposedly Christian but business practices say otherwise.EDIT: They reached out to make it right with us by not charging us the fees and making sure we were happy. We understand why they changed the policy, and are glad they have empathized with us and made it right. I have always liked this gym and it's great if you go there enough to make the money worth it. It's a bit expensive but honestly the best in the area. Maybe will return someday! Thank you guys”

During my time with them, I added 20 lbs of muscle and learned a lot about proper gym habits and dieting.They are incredible teachers and wonderful people. “I went to this OTF today as I was convinced by family to take an intro class - it's free, so it's a great way to get introduced to the type of classes here! The location is really nice, clean, and the staff is super friendly. The actual workout room/area is spacious, has nice equipment, and the instruction was great. I usually just work out by myself at Planet Fitness which I don't think is the best model for me because I don't push myself as hard as I could and I usually don't workout for too long. It was awesome having a whole workout planned for me and being led throughout it so I didn't feel clueless like I do at the gym LOL. I love that they let you set your baseline and don't try and push you to do anything too hard or crazy. The class I did today was a mix of treads, rowing, and mat workouts and I really liked it. It had a great variety and I never got bored and the hour long class flew by. I love being able to see my progress in real time up on the screen, too. I haven't gone full send on a membership yet, but I think I'm going to. It's definitely more pricey than what I'm used to paying for in terms of a gym, but I think committing to a membership would keep me consistent with my fitness & wellness goals. Stay tuned!”
