“Clean, well stocked, large variety of fresh vegetables and meats. Do not shop there very often but the employees seemed very courteous and helpful. My only real aggravation and complaint is that prices on everything including general bargain brands have increased and continue to increase on almost every item in the store. It feels like trying to budget and shop sensibly is becoming overwhelming. Lately every store i try to budget for have increased prices dramatically.”

“This is a great, clean store. Lots of bulk or family sized frozen food items. They also sell restaurant items. Think paper products, kitchen items, a few dishes. The public can buy it all too. It's a regular, walk in store. They have canned goods, dry goods, lots of pre-made items like cheese sauces, soups, etc. Their regular pricing and sale pricing is fantastic. Bring a freezer bag or a cooler with you. Remember, most everything is frozen. They have ice there if you're coming from far enough away to need it. They sell freezer bags too.”

“HyVee Market Grille has become our go to breakfast spot on Saturday mornings. Who thinks of meeting for breakfast at a grocery store? But it is generally great. It is usually Vincent who takes our order and he is incredibly friendly. I love the food. I typically get chocolate chip pancakes, which have a great flavor. The bacon is consistently crisp and cooked to perfection. I have also had their biscuits and gravy and their eggs. All have been good. They serve Caribou coffee, which is good by me, but also funny because there is a Starbucks 50 feet away in the same HyVee. I would love to give it a five, but I can’t because it is consistently inconsistent. For quite a while, my friend’s biscuits and gravy came out cold. Having them heated up is fine, but they should start out that way. The pancakes are also an inconsistent size. For a long time, I would order one pancake, which was almost always the same size as the dinner plate and for a great price. Then suddenly, they were significantly smaller, perhaps half the size. They still tasted good, there just weren’t as big. Knowing they’ve been running small, I ordered two pancakes today and they came out, both the size of a dinner plate, which was too much food. I definitely love this place and will keep coming back, but I wish their food was more consistent.”

The Cincinnati-based supermarket giant will open about 110 new stores in fast-growing markets by 2029 and introduce three updated store formats, executives told investors Oct. 20 at the company’s Investor Update in New York. Kroger already runs about 2,700 stores in 35 states. The formats come in three sizes, a bit like small, medium and large, matched to each market. Mary Ellen Adcock, Kroger’s executive vice president and chief merchant and marketing officer, walked through the lineup.
Walmart shoppers want a head start on the holidays, and money explains a lot of it. Some 44% of respondents call affording the holidays their top stressor, and 61% say holiday costs shape their shopping mood. Asked what would make the season easier, 70% picked lower prices and 57% picked more deals and promotions. Convenience ranks lower: 30% want one-stop shopping across categories, and 20% want faster delivery.
Walmart wants your groceries at the door before the ice cream softens. On May 29, the retailer said its 30-minute-or-less delivery had reached 33 U.S. markets, adding a wave of new cities across the Northeast. Shoppers in those areas can order from more than 100,000 items, everything from fresh produce and baby formula to pet food, electronics, cold medicine, and prescriptions. Behind the scenes, the service leans on Walmart's store network and an algorithm that factors in order size, available drivers, and distance from the store.
Trader Joe's keeps adding stores, and shoppers keep showing up. The California grocer has marked nine more locations as "opening soon," pushing its expansion into new corners of the country. The grocer also took first place in the American Customer Satisfaction Index's 2026 supermarket rankings. It has held a spot near the top of that list for years.
Target is rolling out its most ambitious store overhaul in more than ten years, with plans to remodel over 130 locations and open 30 new stores across the country this year. The retailer is also putting money into supply chain technology upgrades to keep pace with how shoppers buy today.
