My dog was not doing well since having a bad experience with a groomer at his last location…he’d shake, cry, bark, and I would dread having to take him to get groomed, so I decided it was time to look elsewhere. That’s when I came across Spirit of Grooming. Today when I dropped him off (this was his 3rd time going there) he ran up to Katie (his groomer) and his tale was wagging the entire time. It was such a delight to see! I didn’t want going to the groomers to be a stressful experience for him, and I myself was able to leave him and not feel guilty or stressed.
Unlike many other groomers, here they focus on just your dog for the entirety that they are there. Before it would take 4-5 hours because he’d be put in a kennel to wait his turn while in a loud environment surrounded by barking dogs. Here, he is done in 2 hours or less in a quiet and clam atmosphere just with his groomer that he’s familiar and comfortable with.
I could truly go on and on about how happy and relieved I am to of found this place for my dog. If you’re looking for a groomer, look no further!
They even do photo shoots at the end of each of their appointment that I always look forward to ?

Our dog Summer has been going there since she was a puppy. She’s 8 now, so basically her whole life has included this place. She’s done dog daycare, boarding, and grooming over the years, and I can honestly say we’ve never had a negative experience. She is happy and over-the-moon excited every single time I drop her off.
It’s consistently clean. It always smells fresh and welcoming. I love that the staff actually know her. This isn’t some big box place where you have to use name tags because there are seven Goldens named Max. They greet everyone by name. They know their customers and their dogs, and it truly shows that they treat everyone like family.
They know Summer’s personality, her quirks, who she plays with. After this many years, that kind of familiarity means everything. When we board her, I don’t feel anxious leaving her. I just know she’s in good hands.
Honestly, the staff is the best part of this place. And it should be anywhere. It’s the same group of people every time I walk in. There’s no constant turnover, no meeting new faces who don’t know my dog. These people are one of the most amazing groups I’ve ever met, and I genuinely feel like they’re a second family to my fur baby.
And it’s the little things too! The holiday artwork, the themed days, the small projects. I still have some of Summer’s artwork saved because it’s just sweet and thoughtful.
Summer grew up there. That says it all.

You go up to the counter and they ask you what kind of tortilla (3 choices), eggs or egg whites (and I got mine scrambled) and then a few choices of vegetables and/or meat. Then, the wrap is made right in front of you. Excellent. Customized. They have tables both inside and outside. Inexpensive.

Topsy Turvy Brewery
727 Geneva St, Lake Genevahosted an engagement party here yesterday and it was a perfect spot. We had some tables in the main bar area and the Fireplace Room area in the back. The staff was fantastic at helping everything get setup just as we had requested. Dianne was our event coordinator and made the whole thing easy. We were able to bring in snacks and order in pizza so it was budget friendly! Thanks so much to everyone at Topsy Turvy!!

Maxwell Mansion Hotel
304 S Wells St, Lake GenevaWe attended the New Year’s Eve Casino Royale event hosted by The Maxwell Mansion, and it was a truly stellar experience. Each area of the hotel was elegantly appointed with casino-themed décor and buzzed with energy and excitement. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a complimentary cocktail and provided with a schedule of the evening’s events.
The outside garden geodome tent was filled with enthusiastic guests enjoying blackjack and poker tables, along with a lively craps table that kept the excitement going. The bars throughout the mansion did not disappoint. Walking down the outdoor stairs to access the speakeasy—using the secret password—felt like stepping back into another era. The underground bar was wonderfully nostalgic, and the bartender masterfully served the best Sidecar we’ve ever had.
By the end of the evening, the dance floor was packed as everyone rang in the New Year together.
Our overnight stay was in the Carriage House (Room 15), which was both elegant and inviting. The queen bed was incredibly comfortable, and the sheets were exceptionally soft—perfect after a night of celebration.
Owners Monica and Luke Pfeifer truly go above and beyond to provide their guests with a memorable experience and a relaxing stay. We will definitely be booking another visit to The Maxwell Mansion.

835 Wrigley Dr, Lake GenevaWe were out in the pursuit of some seafood, and we found Barrique near Lake Geneva. It's a small and quaint place facing the lake. The food was fantastic and they had wine for $5 a glass. We had ordered a soup flight (bisque, chilli), flatbread with burrata, crab cake, lobster roll and a poke bowl. The only dish that disappointed me a bit was the rice bowl - I had a poke bowl in mind, but you have to order the fish separately, which defeats the entire purpose of a poke bowl. There was more rice than toppings, and the dish overall felt a bit dry. Everything else was pretty good. No complaints. Service was good. Overall a decent experience.

Everyone at the table loved their meal!! Highly recommend getting the tater tots!! I took a risk and got the shrimp po' boy, I was worried it would have 4 pieces of shrimp! Boy was I wrong!! The po' boy was delicious and very filling!! The sauce, amazing!! Restaurant was a bit loud, but that was due to a very happy table near by. At some points we couldn't hear each other talk ha! Our server was very nice, gave great recommendations and gave us the perfect amount of attention!!
