I called heartland because I have been taking my dogs there for a long time. Maxxie has been going there since we adopted her. I called this morning and they got her right in that afternoon. We moved to Florida 6 years ago and I just can’t replace Dr. C!!!
Dr. C saved our Boston Terrier , Penny, when she was just 6 years old. She developed a blood disorder and Dr. C did not give up until he found a cure for her. After this she lived to be 14.
I have taken all of our dogs to him and brought my parents too. He is the most knowledgeable vet I have ever known!
Dr Carmichael is also the most caring individual you would ever want to meet.

691 Lake Ave, WoodstockI cannot say enough wonderful things about this animal hospital and the incredible staff who helped our family during two of the most difficult moments we’ve ever faced.
The first time we came to them was when our sweet girl, Elvira, was at the end of her life. Our regular veterinarian was unable to fit her in and VCA graciously fit us into their schedule despite being extremely busy. Sadly, Elvira passed away on the way there with my husband. The staff treated her with such dignity, compassion, and respect. They waited for me to arrive so I could say my final goodbye to her, and that kindness is something I will never forget.
Not long after losing Elvira, our other beloved dog, Zombie, took a sudden turn for the worse. Once again, VCA found a way to fit us in and provide exceptional care during an incredibly emotional time. The staff showed us the same compassion and understanding, making sure my husband could arrive before proceeding and giving our family the time and space we needed to say goodbye to our beautiful boy.
The care, empathy, and genuine kindness shown by every member of the team meant more to us than words can express. They helped make heartbreaking situations a little more bearable and treated our pets like family. We will always be grateful for the love and support they gave Elvira, Zombie, and our family.

K9 Guidance
15204 Kishwaukee Valley Rd, WoodstockLuis at K9 Guidance is fantastic! He really understands the dogs and has trained us in on how to work with our dogs. There is so much to learn and each week we continue to learn more. Luis is patient with us and explains everything very well and in detail and provides us with corrections to implement in how we handle our dogs. The sessions are never repetitive nor is the entire class spent focusing on one thing. The variety keeps both us and the dogs engaged. We have a 4 year old German Shepherd and added a German shepherd puppy a few months back. We started our puppy in Luis group puppy class. His behavior within a week was better than our 4 year old which led us to doing training sessions for both dogs. Our 4 year old is reactive and within the first session he had her focused on and not the other dog. Luis has taught us the value of consistency, the benefit of showing leadership and the importance of rewarding for positive behaviors. We have been to a few trainers over the years but have not seen the improvement and gave up on our 4 year old being able to tolerate other dogs. Instead we just adjusted our lives around our dog’s behavior and avoided interacting with other dogs. With K9 Guidance we have learned how to adjust and correct the unpleasant behavior versus our lifestyle. Both dogs are extremely excited as soon as we get to training as they love the stimulation. I would give K9 Guidance 10 stars but Google only allows a max of 5. Thank you K9 Guidance!

I always ask for extra chocolate chips when I get my pancakes because I make it my sweet treat for the day. They always put so many that my pancake will basically be 85% chocolate and I love that so much. The bacon they make is always so good too! I really love the food here :)

Update: still my favorite place in Woodstock. Always friendly and they have amazing deals. I know some of the prices have gone up, but that is what happens with inflation. The pizzas are really popular so just make sure to order well ahead.
They use and AI on the phone order. Takes some getting use to but it is okay.

Helping Paws Animal Shelter
2500 Harding Ln, WoodstockHad a wonderful experience adopting Snowball, our new terrier mix puppy, from Helping Paws. The Helping Paws staff were very welcoming & helpful in setting up meet & greet time with a few of the dogs we wanted to potentially adopt. The vetting process was quick but also thorough at the same time, demonstrating how they want to ensure that the adoptees are going to loving homes that give them the best chance to thrive & be loved. Questions were answered along the way, tips and recommendations were provided to ensure a smooth transition and we have been blessed to have Snowball join our family since late February of this year. He is full of puppy energy, slid into the tag-along baby brother role to our 4 year old Maltipoo, Bingo and is an irreplaceable part of our family. We thank Helping Paws and hope others get a chance to visit & help these rescues find loving homes and hope others will support their cause.
