“This is actually my favorite store in McFarland. The manager and employees are super chill and respectful. They don’t always have everything that I’m looking for, but the workers kindness and the welcoming atmosphere make up for it!”

“Usually pretty clean, has what I'm looking for in stock, great woohoo deals. Self check outs are hit and miss, but no worse than anyone else. Staff has always been friendly and helpful.”

“I love this Trader Joe's. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. The store has so much stuff for such a small footprint. It can get a little crowded but never too overwhelming. It has all the grocery staples and also so many delicious snacks. You can't beat the price/quality of the wine. Easily the best place in Madison for wine.”

“Woke up hungover after ripping one more Mifflin to have in the books and I was in need for a sandwich. The girls and I pulled up, with many of them being a veterans of Tags. Tags made it easy to pick out exactly what I wanted on my sandwich, which allowed me to sit and sulk in my hangover while my meal was being prepared. The first bite was savory and salty, with the most perfect crunch. Thank you Tags for being the cherry on top of my UW Madison outro.”

“I'm so impressed by the food pantry and employees here. I've used it a couple times, and they are organized and friendly. They have options for pre-made meals, pantry items and fresh produce. It's a great resource for the community when people are struggling.”

“Recently moved from Japan to Madison with my Korean-Japanese partner and this place has been a lifesaver. Of course, prices are higher than in Japan, but not egregiously so. The lady, who I assume is an owner, also speaks Japanese and is very nice. We even learned a couple cooking secrets!”

“I love this store. I usually find a good deal and meats and that is what I use for the week. And I love the we found this random thing you will possibly never see again. Some real winners have been found that way.”

“Great place to buy bulk ingredients, especially grains. Rye flower has become quite difficult to find except for tiny bags of Bob's Red Mill. This was only $1.79 a pound, and I will get it here for the foreseeable future! Great vibe, cool employees.
Part of Madison's heritage in one of the hippest neighborhoods.”

“Great little family owned neighborhood grocery store. But the really great secret is that they have a little tiny (just four tables) resteraunt in the back. That resteraunt is *amazing*.”

“If you're looking for truly authentic Mexican in this area then Enrique's is the place for you. Cheap, fast, friendly, and delicious. I've had their pastor, asada, lengua.

I've never seen the dining area full, but takeout is super steady, which is always a good sign.

Enrique's is legit.”

“Today I stopped in Ken’s because I wanted some Grandma’s potato salad. I went up to the counter and asked the lady how much a half pound of Grandma’s potato salad was. After she gave me the price, I told her I only had $2.18. She said that was fine and proceeded to put the sticker on it. Then she went up to the cash register and handed me 30 cents. As I was getting ready to pay, I went to swipe my card and told the cashier that he only had to charge me $2.18 first, but he told me he had it. I even tried to give the change back, but he still said he had it covered. Small acts of kindness like this really mean a lot, and I just want to say thank you to this wonderful staff for their kindness and generosity.”

“Love shopping here. Yeah it's small, but wow do they pack it full with everything you might need. Their meat market is superb and their prices are fair. I'm here 2-3x/week to pick up whatever I'm making the family for dinner.”

“I want to tell everyone to come and check out this store. You'll find lots of new items at reasonable prices, and I highly recommend everyone to visit the store.”

“I lived downtown for a short time while working near the Capitol, and Capitol Centre Market honestly became one of those places I ended up visiting almost every day without planning to. At first, I only stopped in because it was convenient and within walking distance of my apartment, but after a while it turned into my regular grocery spot for late-night snacks, quick dinners, and random essentials I forgot to buy elsewhere.

What surprised me most was how much bigger the store feels once you walk inside. From the outside it looks like a small neighborhood market, but they somehow manage to pack in almost everything — groceries, deli food, frozen meals, fresh produce, drinks, even random household stuff like batteries and medicine. A lot of locals online mention the same thing about the store feeling larger and more stocked than expected.

One night after getting home from a delayed flight around 11 PM, I stopped there just hoping to grab milk and something quick to eat. Not only were they still open, but the deli area actually had fresh prepared food left instead of empty shelves.”

“The food was so good, I forgot to take a picture before destroying it. I got the beef pho and I knew it was gonna slap the minute I saw the light colored broth ? also got a pork egg roll that I ate with the red sauce they sell on the side, 10/10 recommend. Gonna go back with my husband soon and bless his taste buds.”

“Great and interesting place! Good service and staff.

Got some eggrolls, a sesame ball, a sausage, and some sweet corn bread from the deli. All were stellar.

Got some different snacks to try out too. Looking forward to trying some new stuff this fine Sunday. (We actually got some sun!)”

“Judging not by the problems encountered, but by the response then I can recommend Christine's Kitchen. I started this review months ago but picking back up. I thought to list with 2 stars but I am an ardent supporter and softy for small businesses so I'm glad I gave myself time and space from the hiccup before posting a review. 1) this umbrella organization provides plenty small eateries, individual cooks and home decor offerings a place to reach many with less effort 2) the location is right off E. Wash with a parking lot for easy access 3) order online and schedule a pickup 4) customer service really tries. I could go on about my incident but I respect the attempts at recovery more than I'd ever complain about the mix-up/failure/stumble. However you want to name it; nonetheless, I'd summarize with Nice concept but the pickup process failed while the service sincerely tries to correct and adapt which says more than anything to me. Why 4 stars and not 5? There's authentic room for improvement and I'm certain they'll get it as I've only had two visits to provide the average/mean while I hope anyone reading doesn't see 4 stars as failing but as a genuine review supporting their potential growth + honest interactions with me as a shopper.”

“We had a large family reunion last weekend and catered much of the food from Los Perez. It was fantastic. Everything was delish. Great tortillas and meats. The rice and beans orders were HUGE and SO good. We ended up ordering much more food than we could eat! Dishes we really loved included the pastor pork, the barbacoas de res, Salsa de Aguacate / Avocado Sauce, and, as mentioned above, the freshly made tortillas are awesome.
The whole thing was a great value too. We felt we got so much for our money. I had a bit of a challenge ordering because I do not speak Spanish, but the manger Armando walked us through it. Highly recommended! I would definitely order for a large party from here again.”

“Good selection and best prices that I've found. The dumpling selection is quite extensive.
When you walk in, there is a distinct and pleasant smell. It doesn't matter what day or time, there are always customers. Even so, checking out is quick.”

“The place seems new and still need some work, some vegetables are missing labels and at the back of the store still unfinished, I suggest placing a door with a sign “Staff Only”. Good luck on your journey.”

“the bagel breakfast sandwich revived me every time i needed a morning pick-me-up in college. always hit the spot. the eggs are seasoned perfectly. the bagels were always soft and soaked up all the goodness of the sandwich. thank you for being a fast, reliable, filling source of breakfast over the years!”

“Very grateful to have 4 downtown grocery stores in Madison. Shopping here will get you most of what you need, with items like produce being fairly reasonably priced. There is a good selection of canned goods, unlike at Target on State St. However, I find the pricing of some items to be predatory. A gallon of milk is more per unit than a half gallon for some reason. It’s like they think customers just won’t notice they’re paying more for no reason. I’ll just buy milk elsewhere. Chicken nuggets/patties are like $7 per pound, more than actual less processed meats.”

“I grew up in Arizona, in a city that's nearly 70% Hispanic. So I'm used to really good, authentic Mexican food. But since we moved to Madison last summer, it's been so hard to find really good Mexican food.

This place really gets it right. Everything here is great, but the birria is especially amazing - it's equal to anything I had during my several years living in Mexico. I'm so glad this place is here.”

“Woodman's has a ton of selection and great prices. Great exercise too because it's so big! :D ... Only downside is it does not accept credit. Cash, debit or check only.

Update: Still love Woodman's. It's been my go-to grocery store for years.”

“Stop & Shop offers an excellent selection of food, drink, tobacco products and vape products at reasonable prices for State Street. Stop & Shop is practically a staple go-to store for smokers and students looking for snacks, vapes or drinks and given the professional and friendly-enough staff, Stop & Shop is my favorite place to go on State where I purchase Black & Milds, energy drinks or iced coffee and I busk every Saturday outside the Stop & Shop at noon, which they don't mind; in fact, they encourage my songwriting and performing and this is very beneficial.

I am always happy to make a joke or quip with the other customers present and people that visit Stop & Shop are, generally speaking, well natured.”

“The team at Hy-Vee in Oregon, is exceptional. Front-end staff handle difficult customers with professionalism and care. The produce department consistently offers fresh items, and employees go above and beyond to help you find the best when asked. Excellent customer service and quality.”

“Walmart is always a convenient place to shop, but did you know their garden center has a nice selection of plants. Pernials, annuals, and lots of vegetables and herb plants. Most plants were hardy, but a few needed some good plant love. Hence, the rating we decided on. They also have fencing to protect your purchases from animals, trellis to help them climb, and plant growing foods.”
