“I was looking for a new vet because we had recently moved and my cat was sick. It was really easy to schedule an appointment online. Once I did, I was called shortly after with a recommendation that he come in sooner and provided availability for same day appointments. The staff was all very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. My cat is very warry of new people, especially when he's being poked and looked at during a vet appointment. He was so comfortable and relaxed, so I was, too. The provided detailed care instructions which include quick solutions to try to address his illness. The price was also really reasonable. Overall, would highly recommend Small Animal Hospital.”
“Dr Wright is the best veterinarian I've seen. He was very thorough with my best friends physical examination and treated his issues. My Dog is running around like a puppy @ 103 lbs 5&1/2 yrs old. Dr Wright is absolutely awesome!”
“I have to say this is one of the best veterinary clinic that I’ve ever seen or been to and I will say the vets are amazing. It is expensive. But anything worth something good is in these guys are good.. although they’re cat clipping nails used to be courtesy it now cost you $30 so if you cut your cats clause, don’t wait till your appointment and do them yourself and save yourself some money and it’s cheaper if you use cash or your debit card otherwise, you get charged a fee for using the credit card. These are the best vets I’ve ever known and my kitty just absolutely is not stressed. He did well and I love the clinic. It’s amazing Best clinic out there.”

Dr. Hoppe cared for both my late Boxer, Sultan, and my current Boxer, Buddy Journey, and provided wonderful care until his recent retirement. Since then, Buddy has been seeing Dr. Poehlmann and Dr. Jacob — both are outstanding! It truly doesn’t matter which doctor you see; they are all kind, considerate, and extremely knowledgeable. “Dr. Sherer is fantastic! I highly recommend them. Cat care in general is not cheap, so don’t go in expecting to spend $100 one time and never worry about your cat again. Dr. Sherer went above and beyond to inform me everything about my cat’s teeth extraction and cleaning. They called in advance for optional procedures and outlined every step of the process. I’m very grateful for their expertise and they are well worth the money.”
“My mother and i extend our sincerest gratitude for how wonderful and kind the staff were towards our Misty. Dr. Amy is absolutely brilliant and was a great comfort when our girl passed. Because of her, we felt much more confident that we were doing the right thing for Misty.
She’s home with us now, in a beautiful box with her sweet paw prints alongside the lovely card we were sent. When we are ready to bring a new pet into our lives, we are absolutely coming here again.
This team really cares, they remember you, and look forward to seeing you and your pet, they are very intelligent, respectful, and mindful. The first thing Dr. Amy said when she saw us was that she missed us, that was so sweet to hear especially on such a hard day. The staff were so lovely, offering water and letting us take our time, i really liked that we paid in the room instead of in the waiting room cause my mom and i were a MESS (understandably so.)
Misty felt really comfortable and safe here.

“I’ve been a client at Downtown Veterinary Clinic since April 2023, when I moved to Milwaukee from New York City with my Cavalier King Charles lady. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to her that October. During that heartbreaking time, we received the most compassionate end-of-life care; sensitive, gentle, and deeply respectful of both her and us. The team helped her cross the rainbow bridge peacefully in our arms, and I’ll always be grateful for that kindness.
More recently, our new family member, a Papillon-Chihuahua mix, became ill and I had to rush her in. The staff saw her promptly, clearly explained all treatment options, and offered two financial pathways so we could make an informed decision. I truly appreciated how transparent and considerate both the doctor and technician were throughout the visit.

“I love the doctor and her team here! Everyone is so nice and calm to where even my ferret was calm and not freaking out. I was recommended of off one of Wisconsin Ferret Facebook groups and was worried they would have a doctor with broad knowledge. But the doctor here had so much information and experience working with ferrets. Abba and I had the best time. They did so amazing with her that she accepted a nail trim and barely squirmed around. I am a 100% making this Abbas permanent vet they are everything I can ask for and more in an exotic vet.”

“A animal surgery at one of Animal Clinic in Wauwatosa that cost me close to $1,000.00. Cost me at West Allis Animal Hospital $300.00. I have four dogs and I immediately pull all four from that clinic. A friend refer me to West Allis Animal Hospital and for the last six years that were all my dogs go. Their staff is friendly from the Animal Tech to the Doctors. Excellent Care!”
