It's name has recently changed (re new ownership), to "Comfort Inn" (exactly?).Rooms: Very comfortable "standard" room.Nearby activities: Bowling Alley next door.Food & drinks: Very enjoyable breakfast; including "Waffle maker," plus "scrambled eggs, sausage, plus diced potatoes," in addition to "cereal, milk, bagels, muffins, yogurt plus juice/coffee for breakfast"; all in a clean, quiet room reserved for breakfast only.Noteworthy details: Small swimming pool plus whirlpool.”

“Pleasantly surprised and better than I expected. It's been updated and has a contemporary feel, very professional staff at check in, and a good breakfast. The location is easy from the interstate and only about 5 minutes to downtown Wausau.”

“Stayed here for 5 days and I cannot express how lovely our stay was. First, the lobby is impressive and front desk staff were always friendly. Our room was spacious, clean and beds were very comfortable to sleep in. We were happy with the pool as there was a separate area for infants/toddlers. The restaurant was phenomenal and all remaining staff we encountered were all polite. Can’t recommend this hotel enough…just book and you won’t regret it.Food & drinks: Three breakfast options nearby.”

“I was in town for business and had a great stay here. Dog friendly and in a great location with easy walking distance to restaurants, cafes, bars, the brewery, and even a gas station. The hotel was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and I appreciated having both soft and firm pillow options. The free breakfast was decent and I especially liked the fried egg patties instead of the usual scrambled eggs. I forgot my swim trunks otherwise I would have taken a dip in the pool. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and made me feel welcome. This would make for a nice one night getaway as well.”

“Best hotel in terms of cleanliness, lightning, breakfast menu, pool that I have stayed at in years. A little shocked at how nice the place was. Room was nice and very clean. The pool was well maintained, well lit and comfortable.”

“We often stay at the Jefferson to see shows at the Grand Theater, which is within walking distance. Also, my husband has had many eye procedures and surgeries, and the Eye Clinic is just down the road. The hotel is clean, and the staff is helpful.

Hotel parking is a problem. If you want to park in the lot, you have to be here around check-in time. The lot fills fast. After that, you have to walk to the parking garage or another lot.

They offer breakfast for $12 a plate, and it really wasn't all that good. It would be good if it was free. We prefer the Mint Cafe for breakfast.

We usually stay in a normal room, but there was none available, so we forked over the money to stay in this suite.”

“If you just need a place to crash, that's close to Wausau. This is a gem. There is a pool & hot tub. A decent complimentary breakfast is provided. The staff are very helpful and friendly. It's nothing to fancy, The rooms are cute. The place is decorated in a cute northwoods theme. There is also a nice walking trail right outside the hotel.

Rooms: Cute and clean. There are plenty of outlets.

Nearby activities: Walking Trail. An outlet mall, grocery store, gas station, and Culvers are very close. I think there's a steak house close too.

Safety: I've stayed here solo and have felt safe. As always, pay attention to your surroundings and take reasonable precautions to protect yourself.

Walkability: This location would allow for safe walking to several of the nearby sites.

Food and drinks: Complimentary breakfast. I think there are drinks and pizza available on site. There are restaurants close as well as a gas station and grocery store.

Noteworthy details: For the best deal, call directly to the hotel to make reservations. If you are driving through, you can pay cash for a special bonus. Watch out online! I had a 3rd party somehow intercept my reservation and ended up paying way too much!!!”

“I am impressed at how affordable this place is. The hallways are clean and that’s more than I can say about pricier hotels. Not a lot of extras but great staff and affordable rooms are a plus to me.”

“This was a port in the storm many years ago! A friend and I made a bus trip to Minnesota to see a Sants vs Vikings playoff game. On the way home to Mississippi, our bus stopped in Wassau for lunch. Before we finished lunch, the bus pulled away and left us. We were stuck with $80 in Wassau but were luckily across the street from the Budge Inn. We got out room for $40 I think, and proceeded to walk to the bus station in 8 degree weather the next morning. So much more to the story, but let's just say this place probably saved us from freezing to death that night.”

“Im stayng at the Bantr for work, which is a very long way from home, Texas that is.
This place is gorgeous! The staff is friendly and very accommodating. If you knew me, you'd know, I'm weary of going out alone, so when I ventured out of my room I found the best place to just hang out.....
The highlight of the place... the Bantr Grand Hotel bar. The bartender on weekends is Sara...offering her best, always with a smile and ready to serve. She really makes me feel comfortable and at home,; iI tend to forget Im not from Wisconsin.
Watching her work is just as exciting. Its like this woman has 8 arms, welcoming all, keeping all the patrons glasses full and faces with smiles. I've seen her handle situations, where others would lose it or spiral, with ease and professionalism So not only am I comfortable there, I feel safe in the atmosphere she creates.
I recommend this place for anyone from any background to come hang out. Have a few laughs, listen to good music, and have a few drinks.”
