Unfortunately I lost my fur baby, McLendon's staff and vet were very caring and helpful in helping me with the process of having my baby cremated and memorialized. Even going so far as to have the office sign a condolences card. Definitely will be my vet for my other animals going forward.

Mcneff Veterinary Hospital PC
1600 Greensboro Ave, TuscaloosaCapstone Vet was such a wonderful place for me to go to when my 16 year old kitty was suffering from early stage kidney failure. Dr. Drain and their staff were so kind, very honest, and very caring. They helped me, help her, through her last few days, they called to receive updates from me on her condition, and even sent such a lovely card when they received news of her passing. Now since bringing my new kitty to Capstone Vet, they have continued to give me nothing but the best. I truly recommend them for anything!!

Alberta Veterinary Clinic
2521 10th St E, TuscaloosaI highly recommend this pet clinic. Dr Russell was extremely professional in treating my cat, who had severe constipation. When I picked my cat up, she was clean and healthy. My sincere thanks to all the veterinary assistants for their help. I just have to mention one more thing: the cost was really reasonable and much lower than at my previous clinic.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Rolf's German Restaurant
2324 4th St, TuscaloosaRolf’s is one of those places in Tuscaloosa that really stands out because it offers something different. If you enjoy German food, sausages, pretzels, and a beer-garden kind of atmosphere, this is a place you should absolutely try. The vibe is fun and casual, and it feels like a local spot with a lot of personality.
What I liked most is that it is not just about the food, but also the overall experience. It has that cozy, welcoming feel where you can sit down, relax, and enjoy a meal that is a little outside the usual Tuscaloosa restaurant routine. It is a great place to go with friends, especially if you want something laid-back but memorable. Definitely one of the more unique dining spots in the area, and a place I would recommend to anyone looking to try something different in Tuscaloosa.

Another Broken Egg Cafe
1650 Jack Warner Pkwy STE 1004, TuscaloosaThis Cafe had wonderful staff overall. I got the biscuits and gravy meal. Very delicious and warm. Our waitress even gave us free appetizers how long our wait was to order. Our wait for food was around 30 mins. The view from the porch featured the beautiful river. Only concern was the eggs...a little like hotel eggs. But great experience!

Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter
3140 Investigator Dornell Cousette St, Tuscaloosa⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A truly dedicated and compassionate shelter
I want to share my honest experience, because I have seen many negative comments that simply do not reflect the reality of the incredible work being done here.
Running an animal shelter is an enormous task. The staff spend their days caring for the animals, monitoring their health, helping them emotionally, cleaning, feeding, and trying to give every single dog and cat a chance for a better life. This is not an easy job — it is emotional, physical, and often heartbreaking. And yet, these people show up every day and give their absolute best.
Some people complain about a kennel not looking perfect or about messes in the cages. Before judging, one should truly understand what it means to care for so many animals at once. Anyone who has ever worked in a shelter or cared for a sick, scared, or abandoned animal knows how demanding it is. Instead of criticizing from the outside, people should appreciate the hard work — or even volunteer themselves to see the reality firsthand.
I personally have seen how much love, patience, and effort the staff put into these animals. They provide a safe place when humans have failed them. They comfort the ones who arrive scared, neglected, or abused. They shed tears when animals don’t make it, and they celebrate every adoption with genuine joy.
This shelter deserves respect, not complaints.
Thank you to every staff member and volunteer who gives these animals hope, comfort, and a second chance. You are doing truly meaningful and compassionate work. Five stars, without hesitation.
