“I rented an Arctic Oven hot tent and propane heater for an Anchorage to Thompson Pass ski/ sled trip and was so impressed with their customer service. My last-minute booking was accommodated and staff worked with me to find a tent that would best suit my trip and timing. I was so grateful for the early pick-up and drop-off flexibility too. The tent and heater were packed in a super convenient tote that made set-up and transportation very easy. I would absolutely recommend Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental for locals and visitors alike!”

Everything is very high end quality; I’ve been wearing clothing from here for years and nothing has ripped or torn, or mysteriously fallen apart after washing. The new location is in a strip mall with a coffee shop and lunch spot so you can make a nice afternoon trip of it! I can’t recommend this store enough :)”

“One of the biggest and best local locations for work wear and safely rated gear in the state, carrie name brands such as Carhartt & Grundéns they have everything you'll need for a long work week on the slope and a rainy day on the boat. Stop in have a look around and font be afraid to ask the friendly staff there always happy to help even with the little things!”

“Went in as a complete beginner looking to buy some gear for fishing. It was a bit daunting seeing so much gear, fortunately Tabatha and Will were absolutely amazing!. She first asked me several questions to make sure I picked the right rod and reel, she guided me through the whole process, suggested alternatives and discussed the pros and cons. Then Will helped me out to pick lures and the rest of the gear, he was super patient and gave me so many tips that I should have taken my notebook with me. They were not trying to oversell me anything they both wanted to make sure I had the right gear for what I wanted to do. Overall a terrific experience I wish more hobbies had this level of support for beginners”

“This Footlocker is conveniently located on the 1st floor of the 5th Ave Mall. Workers are always friendly and helpful. Clothing sales and shoe options rotate frequently. We are able to find our sizes more than half the time we visit. Recently, due to not having a size we needed for an exchange, we had to request a refund. Luckily, it was quick and easy.”
“It is like most Bass Pro Shops but in Anchorage. The gear is tailored to the local. Prices are similar to the lower 48. Sales staff is friendly and helpful but seemed to be stretched thin. I will return!”
“I had a fantastic experience at the Lids store in the Fifth Avenue Mall in Anchorage, AK, and I have to give a huge shoutout to the store manager, Julien! From the moment I walked in, Julien made sure I was taken care of, offering helpful suggestions and going above and beyond to ensure I found exactly what I was looking for.
Not only was he knowledgeable about the products, but he was also incredibly patient and attentive, answering all my questions and making sure I felt confident with my purchase. His customer service was top-notch, and he truly made the shopping experience enjoyable.

“Angelina really knows her shoes, I went in looking for a size 4 anti slip shoe. I've been to many shoe stores with my aunt, including this one and no one could really help me since I know nothing about shoes except what I need is probably unavailable. Of course, there aren't any shoes in the perfect size. Angelina was able to find a suitable fit despite working with a size of shoe that is near non existent in the USA. The shoes I purchased were a size 5 and a half, and one size smaller would have worked perfectly.. Angelina checked to see if the shoes could be pre-ordered and the size 5 was unfortunately unavailable but the shoes are lightweight, at least I think I can go for a long walk without worrying intensely about permanently damaging my ankles and are the best choice given I have no idea what I'm doing and Angelina is very knowledgeable. Don't ever lose Angelina and give her a raise. I've been to multiple shoe stores and only left more confused than before without an acceptable pair of shoes. Lou Ann is absolutely wonderful too. I've never received better customer service in all of Anchorage despite going to several different shoe stores including this one, and left with nothing but more confusion on what to do. The entire staff is pleasant but Angelina really stood out. Would give 5 stars but the shoe size 5 was unavailable, Angelina did a great job working around that.”

Thanks to the employee Roy for making me a hat person now!!…I explained to Roy how I’m not a hat person because they always look stupid or too big and they don’t fit right and I just don’t feel comfortable or look good. I said what I was looking for, and he found me the perfect hat 1st try 🙌🏻 comfortable material, the clasp in the back, the length is shorter and so many other details are perfect.
