Masala Hut
144 Morison Avenue, Parksville5 stars all around, and for good reason. First time diner at Malala Hut here who dined solo and had a wonderful experience. I’m writing this review in my car with a full stomach because the host was so charming, helpful and hospitable during my dining experience, I figured why not write an honest review.
lamb Biryani (ordered medium hot): a hefty portion of beautifully soft seasoned rice served with a VERY generous portion of lamb. The spices coated the rice wonderfully while remaining perfectly balanced allowing the natural taste of the perfectly cooked lamb meat to shine through. I was not disappointed with the level of spice either. It was as if the spice and the antidote for the heat were living on the same plate.
Calamari: crisp to the touch with a wonderful vibrant dipping sauce like no other. It compliments the batter and the fried squid wonderfully. The calamari itself is wonderfully seasoned, and can be enjoyed with or without the dipping sauce.
Coconut Naan: if you love coconut flavours, this is a must-have for you. 4 big slices of wonderfully soft naan bread filled with natural coconut flakes and a sweet filling that ties it all together. If you buy this for your table they will be fighting for the last piece.
And all of this for only $38.70! The chefs know how to make a traditional meal with carefully balanced spices that leaves you craving for more the moment you step out the restaurant and into your car. The host provides you with amazing service and conversation that makes you want to come back for more. I envy the staff that get to eat here for their staff meals.
