133 W 2nd Ave, Qualicum BeachMy husband and I came in today for a lunch date during his break from work. We completely understood that there were no seats available but were not offered a seat outside besides a mumbled possibility about the tables out back but no mention of the tables out the front door. We opted to order and wait to take it. Others came while we were waiting and placed orders as well and then a couple people came in and they said they’d like a seat and they were immediately offered the a table out the front door. We were a little surprised. Then, just as our food was ready, a table opened up. We asked if we could take that table and were told that we couldn’t eat there with takeout containers. I’m still really confused by the reasoning, she mumbled something about it not being foodsafe. These were takeout containers that they had just filled themselves and we hadn’t even touched them yet! So we took our bag and found one of the outside tables. I was given the wrong starter so I had to go back in to get the right one. We were a few minutes into eating our food when the couple people who had been seated at the other table outside previously mentioned were offered a table inside since there was one available now. I’m really not one to complain and we love the food there and will likely eat there again because it’s so good but the service today was some of the worst I’ve ever encountered.
Edited to add: we were also never offered drinks when we ordered, we were already paying by the time I thought of it and it felt too late to add by then, but it should be something that the server would ask to complete our meal.
