“Originally I was skeptical from ordering hot foods because of the previous reviews, but I took my chances and ordered a hot pastrami with cheese. This was an amazing sandwich for the price since you also get a small bag of chips and a canned beverage of your choice. For 9.99 I think this is well worth it, I would come back.”

“Golden Bear Food Center has seriously stepped it up! The new owners did an amazing job revamping the place, it’s super clean, the new decor looks great, and everything is so well-organized now.
The staff are awesome, really friendly and helpful. Every time I shop there, it’s a smooth and easy experience. You can tell they actually care about their customers.

“Stopped by today for a few snack items. I got a banana and a yogurt drink for 3.99. The banana was fresh and the yogurt drink was good as well. The have a little section where they sell sandwiches and tamales. They have a wide variety of drinks and food items (both refrigerated, frozen, and dry). They also sell school supplies. I wish I had more time to look around but I will definitely visit again. Employees were kind and they take EBT!”

“check your receipts & bank statements!!! I just came home & happen to look at my bank account, noticed a peculiar charge on my CC for $48.00. Good thing I kept the paper receipt because I was over charged by $6. I'm not sure if it's a computer error or an employee is stealing. Either way, this is not acceptable. Was a clerical error, the owner was kind enough to explain that the attendant approved 45 in gas instead of 35 & assured me the remaining unused balance would be refunded to the card in a few days.”
“I've shopped this market over many years. It's like a royalty among corner markets. Great inventory and selections, even in the produce area, good prices, other amenities on site, such as a good Deli section where they make your food to custom order, even an ATM that always works.And the folks working there have always been friendly and helpful with me.”

“People have been giving this location terrible reviews so I thought I'd balance it out with a few thoughts. My original pharmacy was the Walgreens at 51st and Telegraph. But with the rampant car break-ins, a couple of armed robberies, and armed carjackings at that location, I refused to go there. So I switched to the Walgreens on Gilman in Berkeley. On a few visits (spaced months apart) the storefront was boarded up because someone rammed a car through the front doors to steal their ATM machine. But I kept going there until prescriptions started being delayed due to lack of pharmacists. Their phone recording stated that they weren't sure if/when the pharmacists would return. It wasn't just for a day or two, it was weeks. So I was forced to switch pharmacies once again. I have no idea if they even have pharmacists at that location anymore, to this day. Thankfully, I found the Adeline location, and they regularly have pharmacists. Yes, you always have to wait on line for 20-45 min, which sucks. The hours are short because, apparently, the pharmacists' union declared that there always needs to be a minimum number of pharmacists on duty because they've been held up at gunpoint too many times, and the minimum number is to assure their safety and peace of mind. We should not begrudge them that, it is not their fault. Why they can't hire more pharmacists is a bigger area-wide, societal question.Despite the long lines, every time I've spoken to a pharmacist in person or on the phone, they've all, always, been extremely patient, courteous, and thoughtfully answer all my questions. Which is kind of remarkable given how busy they are.Sure, people can write bad reviews. But I hope you'll all take a look at what's going on with all the pharmacies in the area before you bash this one. It's the best of what's left and I, for one, am grateful they're still hanging in there.”
“I never leave a review but I felt like this pharmacy’s exceptional service and environment has to be expressed in anyway possible. I had a great experience during my externship at this pharmacy. The pharmacy manager Joel is an amazing pharmacist who would always go above and beyond to help customers. The stuff in general are so great. I have witnessed the best customer service and readiness to make every customer’s experience better. Highly recommended pharmacy.”

“This is my favorite gas station (something I never expected to have a favorite of). First, the price is reasonable--maybe not the lowest, but far from the highest in the East Bay.
I almost enjoy getting gas at this spot because it is IMMACULATE. Each pump has a squeegee in a bucket of CLEAN, soapy water, which always feels like a little miracle. No matter when I stop by for gas, someone is replacing the potted flowers at the pumps, sweeping, blowing leaves, or doing other cleaning and maintenance. Tonight at 7:30 pm, a gentleman working there was wiping dust off the pumps and refilling the paper towels!
The location at Tunnel Rd & Domingo Ave is convenient and it's never overcrowded. Unlike the cheapest option at a major intersection way down the hill, it's not risky entering and exiting the property.
We first started going to this Chevron when we found out that they provide air 24/7, with no need to ask the clerk to turn it on. Clearly the owner of this station really cares about the business and it's customers. I appreciate that and give them 5 stars.”
