“Went back again the other night! Had the melt off the bones lamb shank. They are huge and at the price of lamb shanks today, I doubt I could have bought them for much less and then still have to cook them for hours! Plus their teas! I asked what was served at the cafe (where you now have to order the warm foods) and not only did the fellow show me, he suggested dried rose petals and cardamom to increase the taste. Sure, I bought the tea and the rose petals, but he'd also gone back to search for the tea I wanted! such lovely helpful people!”

“Normal TJ's experience. Easy to access, has bay wheels station outside, bus stop, and parking garage. Gets really busy in the late afternoons (4-7pm) pretty standard tho as people get out of work and school and head for groceries. Staff is always friendly and helpful.”

“I loved this place under the previous management, but Barbara and Christine have elevated this place beyond just a grocery store.

To be sure, it's a solid grocery store with all the essentials (bread, dairy, pantry staples) and some interesting specialty items. But they're also just so friendly: when they ran out of my favorite cereal or cheese, they remembered me when it came in. They're expanding their produce selection too and often have very local, in-season fruits. While it's sometimes more expensive than the big stores, the prices are often comparable, and I think for the convenience and quality it is well worth it.

On top of that, the expansion of Casa do Petisco and the addition of new events like samba night make this a neighborhood hub too! I'm looking forward to attending more things.”

“Fabulous independent, family-owned supermarket in Berkeley. It's huge, with a wider selection of organic and natural products than Whole Foods. It has a large produce section, lots of fresh & prepared foods, and some unique finds. They also offer a lot of local, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free items. I came in for a few things and filled a whole cart of things I wanted to try. 😆”

“Every town should have a Three Stone Hearth!! The bone broth soup is tasty and extremely nourishing. I love the meat one. And the southern style chicken soup. Oh, their carrot ginger soup is great too. Everything is but those are favorites.

I can’t find cheese that tastes better than the one they offer. And the gelatina is oh so good! Especially the hibiscus one.

If your body needs a little boost, it will be so happy if you dropped by here. I buy a few soups and transfer them to smaller mason jars. And then freeze them. That way I always have a healthy meal on hand.

Thank you Three Stone Hearth for nourishing your neighbors!”

“I love this little place! I’m a sales rep for the Arborist Gin and Fleurette Gin and it’s always so nice talking to the owner of the store and working with him! It’s also one of the only markets in the East Bay that sell our products, and they’re really good. They definitely have a nice selection.”

“I’m so grateful every time passing by this landmark of a shop because the artwork is so inspiring and heartwarming :) I graduated during the pandemic but have visited north Berkeley a few times since and stumble upon the side of the store whenever I’m around it seems - thank you to the owner, sincerely an appreciative lover of art and Berkeley”

“I absolutely love Of All Places! Celia and Joe have created an incredible specialty grocery store, and it's become one of my favorite stops during the week. I work close by and love to grab anything from supplies for dinner, a quick snack. or a gift for a friend. I've tried everything from their cookie mix, wine, chips, olive oil and more. You can tell how thoughtful they are about what they bring into the shop! Of All Places is a gem, and it's so nice to have great neighbors!”

“Nice neighborhood market! I usually come for the soup and salad — they have a rotating daily menu for the soup and I’ve never got a soup I didn’t like!”

“Most local, small grocery stores trade the convenience of their good locations for higher prices and smaller selections, this isn't the case at Sacramento Market. The prices seem reasonable, especially compared to Berkeley Bowl, the nearest competitor and the selection is perfect for one's needs of a quick breakfast or dinner. If I want to make a smoothie, a couple of fruits, some yogurt, nuts, all can be easily found at a reasonable price. The enviroment is friendly and safe, its a real plus to have this grocery store in the neighborhood.”

“Really nice mid size grocery that has many locations around the bay. The store has a great selection of healthy stuff and a quality butcher/meat section. good cuts of meat at a reasonably affordable price. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and if you are a regular customer it is clear they remember you and value your business. Some of the snack items are a little pricier than down at Safeway but the meats are generally similar price and of better quality and it’s convenient and pleasant if you live close by to stop in for a snack or a drink or even a bigger grocery run.”

“Store Owner & his little brother very nice and friendly. Best convenience.store in Berkeley that stays open late A wide selection of different snacks, & exotic snacks A week ago a lady bumped me in the store, I apologized to the lady even thought she bumped me she started cursing me out and using racial slurs, the owner noticed what was going on and asked the lady to leave, so they also value their customer safety and I like that”

“I LOVE having a convenience store so close to where I live. This store has a lot of the things I need at the moment. (even though they could add a little more items) What keeps me coming back, though, is Sam. Very friendly. Very helpful. In my opinion, he's the biggest asset in the store. His affable demeanor draws people in. Keep up the good work.”

“Derby food center is a great place to stop by before you are going for a run, have rehearsal, etc. The staff is always so kind and I only hear great things. They have everything you would need from deodorant and notebooks, to instant ramen and drinks.”

“Friendly local corner store with the usual emphasis on alcohol and snacks, and the usual prices (not cheap but not worse than their peers).

Only real complaint is that they don’t list prices for most products, so you have to ask the price on everything. Or just pay whatever, I guess.

Has lottery but I didn’t win haha”

“Stopped by today for a few snack items. I got a banana and a yogurt drink for 3.99. The banana was fresh and the yogurt drink was good as well. The have a little section where they sell sandwiches and tamales. They have a wide variety of drinks and food items (both refrigerated, frozen, and dry). They also sell school supplies. I wish I had more time to look around but I will definitely visit again. Employees were kind and they take EBT!”

“I like the pani puri and the dosas. They come with sambar, which is nice and spicy. Ordering, particularly during busy times, can take a while, but there's plenty of seating.”

“This Whole Foods bakery is small, but their food items are just as good as the larger Whole Foods bakeries. There’s not really a lot of places to sit and eat, but there is also an outdoor area. My biggest criticism of this bakery is that even though the store is open till nine, it seems like whenever I go around six, most of the baked items are gone, and they’ve stopped putting things out. If you’re there during the day, it’s great.”
