“For the longest time I thought this place was just a massive liquor store. Turns out, they're a full on grocery. Like all other grocery stores in the San Lorenzo Valley, they don't have everything and what they do have is slightly overpriced. That said, Johnnie's is the more practical of the two Boulder Creek options. Go to the bougie place when you want the stinky cheese, kombucha, and $20 bread. Go to Johnnie's when you want hot dogs, chips, and beer.”
“It is what it is. Some good affordable wines, an organic vegetable section and part of a health food aisle. I go there first then a short trip to a more traditional grocery store.”
“WildRoots is one of the few markets left in the Santa Cruz area that still offers truly organic food in their deli and hot food bar. And I am so grateful for their thoughtful support of local farmers and companies.”
“I went to Whole Foods to get bone in prime rib and the guy at the butcher counter laughed and said “we don’t carry that here.” So I came to Saratoga Meats thinking I would have to special order, but they had it right there and carved a great set for me. As others have noted, not cheap, but I was very pleased with the quality.”
“Quality of food is great. They're a little pricey on some items, but have great sales. Also is you're a member, they mail you coupons. Workers there are very helpful, too.”
“I like that is local for all RESA residents to go to. You can get basic items like candy TV dinner and more there. A pizza shop is across the street so it has good parking.”
“Good in general. Prices are slightly higher than at other grocery stores. I needed to use the restroom, so I'm being generous with 4 stars. You can tell it wasn't well-maintained. The smell was terrible, with pee on the floor, and the toilet paper container was missing the roll, not even in place. I wouldn't think much of it if it were a porta-potty rental, but this is where we buy our food.”

I have many of my fondest memories here. 3am visits. Running into people from high school. Playing Monopoly with a friend by the elevators.

“Found this spot recently and just ate there for the first time today. It's an awesome place with a huge selection. Tried the carne asada tacos and the carnitas super burrito and both were delicious. The carnitas were tender and juicy and the asada was crispy, smoky, and extremely flavorful. Really good food and a really good price. Will definitely be back again”

“I sometimes buy groceries at this store with good discounts... For example, vegetable oil was half the price two weeks ago, and this week eggs are also half the price... I think this supermarket has a good manager, I could work for you, there was a vacancy, I live nearby”
“Nice market right off the road with plenty of parking..if they are not too busy you could even get a rv pulled in. They have a good selection of grocery, dairy, and beers. Attendant was polite and helpful when I had a question.”
“Its a run down Safeway in need of a face lift, but its in the lower end of Santa Cruz, so thats not going to happen. Clientele are extremely liberal and many homeless running around. Stocked shelves.”
