“Name should be BooMart. It's a very nice grocery store, well-stocked, clean, and large so there's a large selection of things. However the prices are high, but then there's a reason for this.
It's Boomer Central. The shoppers - a mix of Boomers and, I think, care workers out shopping for Boomers. The checkout staff? Boomers. There's a nice little nook for sitting with a drink or some food, and I had some (overpriced) sushi and a kefir there then did some study, while the place filled up with, you guessed it, Boomers. Homeless Boomers. Yep there are homeless there, they're just all Boomers. So I got the full-volume speaker phone thing they like to do, the shouting conversations about how it's the end of the world that Starbucks is simplifying their menu, and so on.
I also overheard more boomer goodness from the checkouts, some surliness, the guy using Hawaiian words - "Mah-haw-low!" etc. to show he'd been there or owns a time-share there or something - the usual Boomerisms.
Since I couldn't really study, I observed. It was a continual stream of Boomers going in and out. This is why the prices are high - they're in Boomer money which is different from yours or mine in that there's a lot more of it.
So if you wish to observe Boomers in their natural habitat, this is the place! It's a great market, but you must embrace the boom.”
“This place is my happy spot! The selection of unique snacks and fresh produce is unbeatable, and I always leave with something new to try. The staff is super friendly and helpful, making every visit a delightful experience!”
“Mom and pop shop with a great selection of beer and some really good ciders too. I didn't get a chance to check oit frozen meats but it looked really good .
Not a bad detour heading to Santa Cruz .”
“It was my birthday and I stopped in to pick up some crème fraîche. I needed help to find it and an amazing staff member (I wish I had the name of the male) not only walked me to where it was, but on my way out the door handed me a bouquet of roses and wished me a happy birthday. ? Where else would you get that customer appreciation? Thank you Nob Hill! Made me a loyal shopper!”
“Jiffy Market is a hidden gem! Whether you’re grabbing snacks, stocking up on drinks, or looking for premium spirits, this place has it all. The shelves are packed with everything from unique Mexican chips and classic candy to jerky, energy drinks, and refreshing Häagen-Dazs. Their liquor selection is top-notch—whiskey, tequila, rum, champagne, you name it. Sports fans will love the 49ers and Warriors-themed decor, and the store is clean, well-lit, and super organized. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and you’ll always find something new to try. Definitely one of the best local convenience stops around!”
“The best part of Los Gatos. I miss you every day, 24-hour Safeway.
I have many of my fondest memories here. 3am visits. Running into people from high school. Playing Monopoly with a friend by the elevators.
Thanks for your accessibility with food and alcohol many years ago, when I was a troubled teenager.
I won't forget you or your unlocked side door.”
“I sometimes buy groceries at this store with good discounts... For example, vegetable oil was half the price two weeks ago, and this week eggs are also half the price... I think this supermarket has a good manager, I could work for you, there was a vacancy, I live nearby”
“Came here to look for Straus milk but no luck. Grabbed some fresh salad at the deli on the way out and they were super fresh and yummy. DoorDash monthly $10 grocery credit covers it”
“This is my absolute favorite market in Santa Cruz and I have been coming here for years! Great food! They have everything, so fresh and super nice staff. Love this place so much!”
