I was recently contacted by Ms. Cherry Aung Sann about my 6-month certificate, and she wanted to help me decide how I would go about renewing my certificate. After sharing my predicaments and the possibility of needing certain amounts of money in the near future, we came to a good compromise with how much money to have in a certificate, how much to have in liquid savings, etc. She was very kind and helpful throughout the entire process, not only explaining everything pretty well, but also asking how I was doing concerning recent positive events. Throughout the years, I have also gotten to know Mr. Amjad Marri, who was a great help in setting up the initial 6-month certificate, as well as helping the family with gathering money for traveling among other things. Both Mr. Amjad Marri and Ms. Cherry Aung Sann are great to work with, and I'm happy to continue having First Tech as my main credit union.”

“Went to the office on a Friday afternoon to [1] get KYC paperwork done and [2] change of address/phone on my NRE account so I could setup UPI on my phone.

Both tasks were completed within 10 minutes by Pooja the ICICI representative. She filled out the paperwork and made copies of the needed documents for me.

6 hours later I get a notification by email from ICICI that the KYC and addresses info paperwork had been completed. I was then able to setup UPI on my phone.

“This is a great bank... it's that simple. It's great because the staff truly wants to help their customers. I visited the branch a week ago for the first time to deposit an insurance refund check. The teller, Jennifer Robles, was super friendly and very competent. I reached for my driver's license... oops... I had forgotten to bring my wallet. No problem. Jennifer confirmed my ID through records on file and finished the transaction lickety split.Today, I visited the Redwood City branch, again. As trustee for my mom's estate, I stopped by to close out her account. As luck would have it, Jennifer was my teller, again. This was only the second time I had been inside this branch and she remembered me. There was a glitch with a utility charge on the account, but Jennifer quickly enlisted the help of branch manager, Heherson "John" Balico to solve the problem. He surmised that a utility payment had been charged twice in error and he credited the second charge back to the account. It was such a relief to have a banking professional trying to help me instead of shrugging and saying there was nothing the bank could do. John impressed me as being someone who is genuine and who is committed to doing the best job for each customer he meets.Well, it was time to go back to Jennifer. She prepared a cashier's check to close out my mom's account... no charge. The entire time spent inside the branch was a super positive experience. Banks are largely the same. There's not a whole lot of difference in their services, but what makes a difference is the people working inside the bank. If you live in or near Redwood City, I recommend you take a look at Bank of the West. Jennifer, John and the rest of the staff will treat you right.”

“I really like this credit union for the people, service, and benefits. When I arrive and drpart, the security guard always holds the door open for me, which I consider kind and professional. The tellers are always very friendly and helpful too. What I do not like is that the line for the tellers is on the other side of the room, and whether waiting in line behind 1 person or 12, the line seems to always move slowly. The most tellers I've ever seen working at any one time is 2-3. I don't mind that each customer is given the attention required by the teller for good service, but it seems that there should at least be one more teller. In addition, there should be a line for disabled customers. Standing for a long period of time for seniors and physically disabled folk (even pregnant women) can be very challenging and there should either be a line giving them priority, or at the very least, a bench or two that gives the customers a place to rest as needed. Even if the bench is not in the line itself, customers could be given a number so the order of arrival is still respected, while giving the customer a place to rest while waiting. Adding these to the services would make a more wonderful and improved experience.”

Recently, my Citi App suddenly disabled biometric login, even though it had worked for a long time. When I encountered this issue, I immediately thought of visiting your branch — specifically because of the outstanding impression Maheswari left on me last year. At that time, I needed to withdraw a few hundred dollars in straight, clean, and intact bills. Maheswari was incredibly patient and meticulous, carefully checking every bill to ensure they met my request. Her professionalism and care left a lasting impression on me.

On June 16, 2025, I visited the branch again with my biometric login issue. As always, Maheswari greeted me warmly and cheerfully. After listening to my concerns, she made every effort to assist me. Although her initial troubleshooting attempts didn’t resolve the issue, she went a step further by calling Citi customer service on the business line on my behalf. After several steps and persistence, she successfully reached a representative — and shortly after, the biometric login was enabled again.

I deeply appreciate Maheswari’s proactive support, courteous attitude, and dedication throughout the entire process. It’s rare to encounter such thoughtful and committed customer care. I truly felt supported every step of the way.

It is tucked in the corner of California and Castro, right across a Bank of America which can be hellish with the lines very often. The atmosphere at Bank of The West Castro St. is calm, welcoming and they laugh at my jokes ... which means they get how crazy I can be...in a versatile and full of finesse kind of way. Connie is often times the teller who helps me.`Polly would come around (I believe she is the branch manager) and would join in the chatter when I am the only one making noise echo and have it bounce like bad check against the walls of their first-floor branch. Palin has her sh%T together and if I am making a complicated transaction, she won't hesitate to come save the day. One time, I was having too much fun chit-chatting while my $$$ was getting deposited that I left forgetting my favorite visor (you know, the kind that shades your entire trunk). I called the bank and Polly answered the phone and told me that they will hang on to my visor and keep it safe until I am back there. This branch is super rarely swamped...even of Fridays ! Hence, not only are the clubs along this strip the best place to be on a Friday, this bank also got your grooves intact.”
