Nickel Beer Company
1485 Hollow Glen Rd, JulianAwesome little homey establishment that used to be the Julian jail and still has an iron door to one of the rooms.
Great selection of a variety of beers. IPA's, stouts, sour beers, Ales and pilsners all made on site. They are creative when making their brews, so lots of interesting flavors for everyone to enjoy. If you like beer, you have to stop by and enjoy their current selections and even take home a growler or 2 to continue enjoying or share with friends and family.
Nickel beer company sits there at the south end of town and about a half mile outside of town, so don't try walking when walking around town, short drive, don't skip it!
They also have a great logo with Lotta cool swag. I ended up getting an awesome camo hat and 16oz mug for home

The Cooler, Tap & Tasting Room
4466 CA-78, JulianI went to the cooler about 4 months ago and it was the only bar open in Julian that offers cider that was open on a Thursday!! I've been going here ever since. They have decent prices on cider a pitcher is about $28 ($33 after tip) I love the atmosphere and music while I drink my cider the bar tender is always nice and helpful. It's never crazy busy when I come around 12-2 which is fine by me because I can get social anxiety

Volcan Mountain Winery
1255 Julian Orchards Dr, JulianThe setting is absolutely beautiful — peaceful vineyards framed by the mountain and golden light. Their Malbec and Syrah are standouts: smooth, rich, and full of character. You can tell there’s real craftsmanship in every pour.
Mel, the proprietor, is amazing — warm, welcoming, and so kind. You instantly feel like family when you arrive. The whole staff is friendly and relaxed, creating that wonderful mix of local charm and destination-worthy hospitality.
It’s dog- and kid-friendly, and you’re welcome to bring your own food, which makes it perfect for picnics. Locals come here regularly, and visitors quickly see why — it’s the kind of place where you want to linger and watch the sunset with another glass in hand.
If you’re anywhere near Julian, don’t miss this spot. Volcan Mountain Winery captures everything great about small-town California wine country.

Blue Door Winery
2608 B St, JulianArrived just after they locked up. And they were kind enough to unlock and pour me a glass of petit Syrah. Which is just as bold and dry as promised (and the clear lavender tones are a surprise and a delight). I almost missed stopping here. Don’t. Perfect end to a perfect day.

De Los Altos Restaurant
2018 Main St, JulianFood was amazing def had some take home. Our service was great our waiter was very attentive knowledgeable and recommended great options. The location for this restaurant is great they have the option to eat indoors or outdoors. The accessible option was to eat only outside which could be viewed as inaccessible especially during the cold weather. (Didn't ask if they had a ramp to possible go inside so they might be able to make accommodation) The tables outside were bar height that is a little too high for an electric wheelchair user. Overall the food and ambience was amazing I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Purple Owl Cafe
2907 Washington St #2, JulianI just came for dessert but wasn’t hopeful I’d actually find vegan apple pie. They not only had the apple but also a chocolate cake and banana bread. Plus, I had a SOY latte and not just the default of oat these days (but several milks to choose from). I saw they have vegan whipped cream too. Updated from previous review on 2026-03-12

Apple Alley Bakery
2122 Main St, JulianWe stopped by this cute coffee shop in Julian and loved it. They have a great variety of pies, and it feels refreshingly different from the usual spots. The location is charming, the service is genuinely welcoming, and everything has that cozy, homey vibe. I ordered hot chocolate and it was excellent. They also offer lots of coffee and chocolate options, including combinations with ice cream and whipped cream if you’re craving something sweet. The pie was really good—slightly too sweet for my taste, but my friend thought it was perfect. Definitely worth a visit.

Julian Beer Co.
2307 Main St, JulianWe had fun at the Julian Beer Co. we ordered in the building to the left and ate in the extra seating area to the right. They have outdoor seating and a nice big front porch to sit at. We started with the Serrano Peppers and they were really tasty! The pizza was delicious as well as the pulled pork sandwich! So tender and cooked perfectly. They offer Gluten-free pizza crust, vegan mozzarella, vegan garlic bread, and modified salads are available as well. We tried the Pistol Whipped hazy IPA too! They have lots of different drink options. Free Wi-Fi, highchairs, and pet-friendly options too. Glad we stopped on our way through.

Lake Cuyamaca Restaurant & Store
15027 CA-79, JulianA nice place to grab a bite with a beautiful view of the lake!
We came here after visiting Julian, where every restaurant had at least an hour-long wait, so we decided to drive here instead. They told us the wait for a table would be about 20 minutes, but unfortunately, it took 40 minutes. If they had told us that from the start, we could’ve taken a walk by the lake instead of just standing around waiting.
The service itself was quick once we were seated. We ordered a burger, fish & chips, and ice cream. The food was delicious, and enjoying it with the sunset view over the lake made the experience even better. However, they forgot about our ice cream and just brought the check instead.
I’d love to give this place 5 stars — the food, location, and scenery are all wonderful — but small service issues like this make it hard to do so.

Quecho
2603 B St, JulianBeans & rice are vegan! We had the papas plato with grilled veggies. It was perfect - 3 corn tortillas, grilled veggies and potatoes, pico, avocado salsa, red rice and choice of beans. I would have liked some spicy taco sauce to kick up the spice, but otherwise it was perfect.

Villa Chardonnay Horses With Wings, Inc.
4554 Boulder Creek Rd, JulianOne of the most wonderful places I've been to, the care that's taken with the animals and making a difference in the world ?. 5 stars from me...What a paradise for senior animals to spend the last cycle of their lives! I am here on holiday from the UK and wanted to visit the San Diego Zoo but due to circumstances was unable to fit it in my schedule but to my surprise I found a hidden gem in Julian. Villa Chardonnay Horses with Wings, inc a sanctuary for unwanted animals, the love and care that is given to these animals is noticed from the moment you approach the property. I was overwhelmed with joy that 100% of the furry residents were given a forever home here. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget. I can still the love of the animals. Thank you Villa Chardonnay for opening the doors to your haven and count on us as new supporters. We look forward to visiting again..I'm michael Hill from yeadon west yorkshire England.
