“My daughter and I stayed two nights (not long enough). The Inn is so beautiful and our room was so comfortable and lovely. The grounds are beautiful and Martha was so wonderful with check-in and breakfast. We recommend breakfast in the beautiful dining room with delicious food and fireplace. In the afternoon wine and cheese is served in the living room area also with a fireplace on. We will always stay here from now on.”

“Very friendly front desk attendant. This location is perfect for seeing Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, and Pebble beach. We were able to park our car right in front of our room. It was super quiet at night. Great rate. We appreciated that the room had a small refrigerator and a microwave. The beds are super comfy, and the room is extra large. We would definitely return!”

“Accommodations were great. Staff were friendly. The main street is a little loud. However, if you aren't sensitive to noise or have a room away from the street you should be good. The room I was in was great. Has historic vibes with modern furniture. Morning breakfast is basic and has food sensitivity options available. Walkable to Cannery Row and have a few thrift shops.”

“I'm glad that the wife and I found this place.
The staff was super nice, the location was convenient and close to a lot of shops. We also had a nice view of the bay.
As you read all of the reviews, please keep an open mind.
The outside of the building could use some touch-ups to draw a little more appeal. But Monterey is a historical town, so yeah, the buildings are older. That is one of the charms of this hotel. It's old school, but you can see that the business is making changes to keep it relevant but also maintain that vintage vibe.
The rooms are small but cozy. The bathroom has a bidet, which is awesome, in my opinion. The water pressure in the shower is AMAZING!!! The shower fixtures they have in there was a HUGE bonus. (Check the photos).
Breakfasts is an extra cost, but well worth it!
The rooftop bar was also perfect. Good food, cocktails, and an amazing view.
Sorry for the long review. All in all, my wife and I loved staying here. We will be back next year.

Nearby activities: Plenty of things to do right at Fishermans Wharf and the downtown area. Bars, Family fun on the beach, and plenty of sights to photograph.
Safety: A few homeless people are nearby on the beach, but no one bothered my wife and I when we went out for our walks during the day or evening.
Walkability: Fisherman's Wharf is a 10-minute walk. The shoreline was just a few minutes' walk.
Food and drinks: There is a rooftop bar that has good drinks and an amazing view.
They had plenty of food spots within walking distance, McDonald's, London Pub, the dusty bowl, Sapporo steak house to mention a few.”

“John was the most welcoming front desk host I've ever met! Location was perfect, just across the street from a wonderful café and within a 5 minute walk of the aquarium.”
“Location, location, location. Best one in Monterey. First, we were welcomed charcuterie fruits, cheese, chocolate and champagne! The hotel is walking distance to everywhere and we never took our car out. We took Lyft once to a restaurant that was 6 miles away. First night we had a few drinks at the bar. Service was great from Ricky. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning open at 6:30-11 am. We wanted local coffee and simply walked 1/2 a block. The Wells Fargo Bank was also right there the next block. Staff are super friendly and we had a nice corner room with a view of the Marina thanks to Irma. The hotel is due to for a remodel as the bathroom were a little older. The room decor was simple and beds were comfortable. I did love the cotton light robes and slippers they provide and oversized bath towels. Thank you for a great stay!”

“Second time I'm staying at this hotel, just as good as the last time. Excellent service, terrific location, near the water, and within one mile walking distance of Cannery Row. And it's a very pleasant walk with lots to see and explore. Rooms are spacious, the only criticism is the hotel is so large it is easy to get a little lost finding your room. And the parking garage is separate from the hotel. But minor inconveniences for a quality hotel.”

“My boyfriend and I just finished our second time staying at Padre Oaks inn this past weekend. We stayed before end of December 2024 and then again for May 2025. My boyfriend and I don’t get to go out on trips a lot so we rarely get to stay in hotels/inns but we have found to love Padre Oaks inn. It’s affordable, super clean, you always see staff with cleaning carts outside and I’ve never had any issues with booking our rooms or with cleanliness so we sleep in peace. It’s also literally down the street from an outdoor mall and movie theatre and 15 mins away or less from downtown Carmel, 17 mile drive, and Monterrey bay aquarium ( a lot closer than 15 mins actually ) so it’s super convenient. We’re already planning to come back and stay at Padre Oaks end of July or early August. Rooms come standard with microwave, mini fridge, free wi-fi, and free parking. There’s also an ice dispenser right across from the hotel check in area. 10/10 recommend.”

“We had a fantastic stay at the Pacific Inn Hotel in Monterey! The room was spotless and spacious, and the parking was a huge bonus. Plus, they were dog-friendly and allowed us to bring our pup along - super convenient for pet owners! “Spindrift Inn another lovely hotel. Best thing is location. Ocean front, Cannery Row, restaurants, shopping, beach. The staff is super nice and helpful. Hotel is a little dated in traditional styled decor. Water pressure was a little low at times in the bathroom facilities, minor issues. It is a bit expensive, even more for ocean view rooms. However to hear ocean waves crashing as you rest in your, what could be better? Surrounded by dining options, terrific terrific ?.”

“Excellent small Inn. It is the second time we've stayed here. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. A light breakfast is included with the price and is sufficient to fill that gap until later. There is not a luggage room, so guests must leave their cases in their cars until check-in time . The location is within easy walling distance of the town and pier. we took an Uber to the aquarium - it was very reasonably priced.”

“For the price, I thought this inn was very good. Overall, I would recommend this for someone on a budget that doesn't mind driving a few mins to get into downtown, the cannery, or the aquarium.
Location: It's a little further away from the aquarium, but the price makes up for it. One plus is that it's right across the street from a shopping center, which provides something to do and has food options.
Facility: It's an older inn, but they try to keep it clean which is what matters.
Parking: It's free!!”
“Good room in the given price range. Unfortunately, as with almost all motels, road noise. The room didn't have a fridge, I had nowhere to put a drink. Otherwise clean room, blanket a bit weak considering the low morning temperatures. The heating could be turned on, but it was too loud for sleep.”

“We had a wonderful stay at this charming 3-story hotel in Monterey! The location is absolutely perfect—just a short walk to downtown and Fisherman’s Wharf, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and even a gas station nearby for convenience.
Our room was both spacious and cozy, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully equipped with a fridge, coffee maker, air conditioning, and a very comfortable bed. We especially appreciated the quiet—despite being near the road, we never heard any traffic noise (perhaps thanks to being on the third floor..?).
The staff were lovely—warm, helpful, and full of great local tips. Parking was easy, with options both outside and in the underground garage. Free coffee by the reception was a nice touch in the mornings.
We truly enjoyed our stay and only wish we had booked a few more nights. Highly recommended!”

“Rooms: King room is great! Ample space, big cozy bed, dressing table area, large bathroom with walk in shower, sitting area and my room has a little balcony. I have a partially obstructed view but it’s still lovely. The sound and smell of the ocean and seagulls … fantastic morning soundtrack!
Also has small fridge, Nespresso machine, tea kettle, and waters, luxurious robe, hair dryer, and iron. With no tacky price lists to charge you for the drink “extras.”
Walkability: 7-10 minute walk to Cannery Row and the much less pricey, far less fancy, restaurants on Lighthouse Ave.
Food and drinks: Chocolate ganache tart at the lobby bar is delicious.”
