“I asked.for.the room.by the elevator was small but fine for me. The desk staff was great room was ready right away. Only think would suggest is having a restraunt list for visitors. There was a fatmers.market.on Friday with food vendors was great. Ate at the restraunt was great and the servers were great and attentive.”
“The customer service was amazing from the time I walked in until the time I checked out. Would stay here again and I wish I knew the names of the people that took grear care of me.”
“The room was clean. Toilet flushed GREAT! Our room had been remodeled recently & they did a nice job. Bed comfortable. Shower was beautiful. Beware: NO COFFEE in the room or at all.
The grounds were spotless & well maintained. We felt safe on the ground floor. But two blocks from the hotel is an overpass & under the bridge is a very big homeless encampment.
That was a big scare. But the hotel itself (except for no coffee) is good!”
“This hotel is nice gem! Customer service was 10000/10. Shoutout to Amika and Doroda for being so kind and professional! It really makes a difference when the team is welcoming at any hotel. The room was spacious and quiet. I’d stay here again.”
“The location is everything! It feels safe at night, I saw a security guard when I was taking my dog on the last walk for the night. The perk of dogs staying free is outstanding. Yes things are run down and some neighbors are sketchy, but overall it was pretty clean, peaceful and there was a great view in the back, so it was overall pretty much worth it! The staff were pretty amazing too!”

“This hotel is everything you can expect from a 30 year old delapitated building, but the owners have made every attempt to make it a beautiful and comfortable stay, the rooms are very clean, and the bedding Is of higher quality and comfortability then most chain hotels I have stayed at in my recent travels, also special delight, the shower is nothing short of a spa experience, im having a hard time getting ready y o check out without one last shower, I recommend this hotel highly because this owner has taken an experience that is very stereotypical of city hotels, an elevated it, with security protocols making me feel safe, and added little details y ou would not expect, so are quite delightful when made aware of them making a overwhelming impression, IE...having a very strong no smoking policy understandably, providing an area to do so if one chooses is very smart.”
“Home away from home. One of oaklands last artists, pirate, land of broken toy communities. We have fought hard against developers taking our community and making condos. Thanks to Silviera's properties and Robert Shultz and many tenants who have made this neighborhood what it is. Much respect”
“The room was very clean! We do wish shampoo and conditioner were provided, but the bed was super comfortable!
Our only complaint would be the location. We are out-of-towners and didn’t know the San Francisco area. There are some homeless on nearby streets and prostitutes on the corners… we felt a little unsafe.
The hotel itself is okay though!”

“Rooms were clean enough for a roadside motel. It is located in a sketchy area but has a metal gate at the entrance and feels safe enough inside. The vending machines in the lobby didn't work for me and ate my cash and the attendants were not very helpful. Overall good enough for the location and price for a quick stay.”

“I had the opportunity to stay here through a program the VA referred me too in order to get have temporary housing while we explore other options. The motel is run by what appears to be a family. They all work together, each taking different shifts in order to better assist their guests 24/7. They were always on top of whatever there was facing them that day. I ended up staying here just under 60 days and it went by in the blink of an eye. The property has amazing views of the hills that overlook Oakland and SF. You can even look at the Temple located on Temple Hill. At night the views are amazing.
The area is peaceful. This part of MacArthur Blvd is nice. I’ve walked around to local stores and laundry facilities and have had no issues. It’s a quiet, simple place that you can lay your head down and enjoy yourself. My room was great sized and modern. The shower had great hot water and amazing pressure. I always had clean towels too- something I always find of importance. The bed was comfortable and the tv always worked.
The owners employ a young couple who are fairly new parents. They are worth every penny the owners pay them as they take care of everything down to the smallest detail. The gentleman always greeted me with a smile. His wife also acknowledged me daily with a smile.
For some reason, I am finding it difficult to leave here. I’ve felt apart of their family. If I ever need a place to stay or can refer anyone to a hotel- I will always say the Highlander Motel.”
“Standard good hotel. Good security. Just not a great location through no fault of their own. It's too bad Oakland needs sooooo much security to keep guests safe.”

“At the rate paid for the room was awesome. A glass walk-in shower with sliding doors, and a body mirror in the bathroom was awesome. Clean wrapped 6 ounce gargling cups or beverage cups. The bathroom was clean with clean towels, hand towels, and face towels. The bedding was comfortable, I could not get up. The television worked and the sockets in the wall to recharge electric appliances. Most of all, I like the studying desk. For under a hundred dollars a night, I consider it fare market value....”

“Dont expect to much but if you are in a budget this would be considered. No problem with the location, it is surrounded by foodies restaurant. What i dont like here is that one (1) hour before the check out, they will knock at your door informing you about the check out time. Staffs are not good and not bad.”

“I stayed here for three nights and found it to be a convenient location if you're arriving at OAK Airport. I was able to take two buses to reach the hotel easily. The staff were very supportive.”
“This is no longer a hotel. It's now the new location of Eddie's Place. A place where medically fragile people discharged from the hospital and are unhoused can come here to recuperate in a safe place among caring and professional nurses and care givers.”
“I stated there a few times and its nothing better than seeing old faces that are still there as the earth is youthful ot is a mature setting and noises are accepted but not with the okay ,its with trusting yourself and not free speech ,as I've been forgotten ,I get rembered and vice versa while a budget that a government provides makes a place this affordable and cozy for what I know is home ,homeboy but my pants are up today lol”
“Right off freeway, my boyfriend and I booked a room here. We enjoyed ourselves, only thing we didn't like was the guy who attended to us, he wasn't so pleasant. Other then that we were good”

“February 1, 2025
As a youth, I remember witnessing many weddings. As a matter of fact, it is a wedding every weekend in my African American neighborhood in the 1970s. But, things or societies change for many reasons. We, THE OBSERVERS, plan not to blame last minute thinking or to witness the free state of California to transfer to a MILITARY STATE. What really happened? 60s, 70s, & 80s generations don't know. A THEME: COME TOGETHER TO EXIST WHY STAND ALONE FOR MANKIND NOT TO EXIST. True? Or, false? KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! It's the Oakland Community.
Thank you,
Marcus Pea”
“Rooms are not super clean. The while place is a little grimy. The staff was fantastic. The location is perfect. The price was great. Would definitely stay there again.”
“Interesting hotel, I always felt safe with alot of action. The vending machines in the lobby we shut off, the ones on my floor (6th) were functioning with a limited verity. No problem really. 4 minute Uber to terminal 2 at the Oakland Airport. I reserved a 3:30 am Uber and the driver was right on time. I live in Stockton and still prefer the Oakland Airport as my goto for non-stop flights to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.”
“I have never been so pleasantly surprised in my life. The hotel staff really go above and beyond here! The shuttle driver picked us up minutes after we called, took my bags, gave me info on the hotel restaurant & was extremely personable and competent. The hotel checkin staff was great, the bartender was great, the food was good and reasonably priced (for a hotel).
The shuttle driver in the morning reminded me to get free breakfast before hopping in their “Uber Black” minivan shuttle.
Amazing stay, amazing service, and I’ll only be staying here from now on when I fly into OAK.
Edit: It appears that the shuttle to the airport is $10 now, which is why I changed my review to 4 stars instead of 5. I also had a hard time getting to sleep this time because the smoke detector has a green strobe light that is pretty bright & it was flashing randomly.”
