“The location is great, beautiful grounds, nice ambiance inside the hotel. Our thermostat didn't work, no fan in the bathroom, beds were too soft. TV was outdated and slow- not a good UI- hard to connect. No USBC outlets. Getting to the spa was a trek. The hotel has multiple buildings and sort of a maze of passages. The service was good however, especially housekeeping did a nice job. It didn't seem quite worth the money and there were some basic amenities missing”

“This inn is conveniently placed only 5-8 minutes away (by car) from Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. The staff here are so polite and accommodating (I arrived early for check in and they apologized to ME for needing to prepare my room - I was totally at fault for arriving too early yet they still were so nice and caring). If you decide to opt in for the hand crafted Chocolates you're in for a treat. They're well presented and worth the extra cost. I stayed for one night and the grounds and room I booked were/are beautiful! 5/5 stars all around. Would stay here again. Great for solo travelers and couples 👍💕.”

“The staff is amazing. They helped us switch rooms due to being a light sleeper and next to the elevator. They have a great breakfast. It is so nice to eat a real egg for a change. Highly recommend. The beds were comfortable and had ample pillows. Would stay here again.”

“The place was just what I was looking for. I spent the night there before a concert. The man at the front desk was more than helpful and when the machine did not offer me a bottled water after I paid for it, he gave me his own. Needless to say, I gave him a tip as I was leaving.”

“Really great place. Parking plentiful though a little tight in the underground spaces, so make sure you can park well if you’ve a larger vehicle. Rooms feel deluxe with large bed, lovely balcony with potted geranium, and views over the harbour and seals/otters. Lovely bathroom and toilet behind a separate door. Also has complimentary breakfast to be brought to your room every morning. How glorious! Hot tub on the roof is fab - warm and clean and excellent views! Staff seem very friendly and helpful. They have pairs of binoculars to borrow behind reception (ask) so you can watch the wildlife from your balcony. Be warned that parking is an extra charge but all in all a really great hotel. Easy access to wharfs (for boat trips and kayak/bike hire) and easy walk to Cannery Row for food and gifts.”

“It was a good value for a terrific location, only 10 minute walk to the aquarium and close to cannery row. Great oceanside views from the west side (King bed rooms). Staff was helpful, and parking is easy. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There are firepits in the courtyard in the evening. The double queen rooms are a bit tight on space. If you aren't on the top floor, you'll hear the people above you as they walk.”

“We arrived on Thurs night stayed for 2 nights and left Saturday morning on June 2026. It's a good place to stay and it's on a convenient area. It's 8 minutes away from Monterey bay Aquarium, 30 minutes away from the Monterey zoo, and 5 minutes away from many local shops. The desk clerk is only available up until 10pm. There's no complimentary breakfast (which we weren't wanting), no gym, there is a neat pool available during certain hours, ice machine, soda machines, a designated patio area for smoking, and a divers wash station. The room does have an iron, ironing board, a few coat hangers, a safe, free wifi, microwave, small keurig coffee maker, a mini fridge, makeup remover wipes, the big bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash gel, and lotion available. There's plenty of space even though it was smaller than we were expecting. I did notice that the floors are not sweeped. Our 9 month baby kept picking up hair (that was different colored than any of our family) in her little hands when crawling. I also saw sand in a corner only because I'm at my babies eye level. The beds are stiff mattress, the pillows are pretty comfortable though. I do love how each room is named. It's not home, but we had somewhere to stay for our vacation. Overall though for the price we paid it's good. Our kiddos really did enjoy the pool.”

“Great location. Walking distance to the aquarium (cannery row) and old town. On the beach. The room was beautiful with a fireplace! I was a little concerned that we’d hear a lot of busy tourist noise given the location, but the room was sound proof even with a balcony. The complimentary happy hour was a nice touch, although there wasn’t really enough sitting places in the lobby. The complimentary breakfast was underwhelming. The bag and parking staff were super nice and thoughtful, but the reception staff seemed inconvenienced. Our room had a stuffy smell, like old food. It took me a bit to realize the smell was probably because we were right over the kitchen. The room was also uncomfortably warm at night. We opened the balcony door, but it was noisy out. Overall, it was a nice stay, just a few inconveniences. I’d still recommend staying here.”

“We like to stay at this hotel whenever we feel like going to Monterrey. This time we stayed two nights and as always everything was great. Additionally this time we went to their Fin and Field restaurant which was an amazing experience. We had the fish tacos and halibut fish, beer selection and expreso Martini. Everything was awesome. But the best experience came from the staff. Starting with the manager Zach who always made sure that we were doing good and made our experience one of a kind. We also met Humberto who happened to be of the same original nationality as us and he made our time worthwhile. We also need to highlight Connor from the bar who made sure our drinks were of high quality. Overall an amazing stay at the Monterrey Marriott. Rooms were clean, linens of great quality and excellent housekeeping and bell hop. I give them all a 10.”

“Love the location. Walking and seeing the sea lions and the otters by the pier is an added bonus to an already great stay! The rooms are nice, the amenities are nice and the service was exceptional! We made the spontaneous decision to go on a whale watching tour the late morning we were supposed to checkout (don’t worry, we got the okay with the hotel before booking it). Not only did they accommodate a late checkout, but they held onto our luggage while we were on the tour (their idea!). They really went above and beyond to make our special weekend getaway extra, extra special. It’s a trip we will never forget.”

“Our family of four had a lovely stay here for two nights on our way down the California coast during our road trip. The Inn had everything we needed, and they even helped us with laundry when we asked for a small fee. The staff was kind, friendly, and on top of everything. We would definitely come here again if we were to visit Monterey.”

It’s clean and animal friendly! You do have to pay $40 a night for your fur baby but that’s ok. They have 3 areas for your fur baby to play or use the bathroom. Not far from downtown Monterey and close to restaurants and Safeway.

The room is spacious! It has a Keurig with pods, microwave and refrigerator. It also comes with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion.

It is true you can hear your neighbors walking around etc but for this area you can’t beat the price. Also the parking lot is small but you don’t have to pay for parking. Sometimes people complain about the most littlest things. I guess I’m just easy to please! 😊”

“We were looking for a hotel in Monterey that felt close to everything and safe, but didn’t break the budget. This fit the requirements quite well. The digital check in was easy, the coded doors worked well, and on site parking wasn’t as difficult as anticipated. My mom required handicapped parking, and although there was occasionally a non-placarded car in a handicapped spot, we have always been able to find one. In and out parking throughout the day was easy, and the most difficult parking was late in the evening. Our room is near the street, and the traffic noise was a bit loud, but nothing we didn’t sleep through. The rooms were clean and daily service was a nice perk. Overall, this is a fine hotel for a budget friendly trip to Monterey.”

“Walking distance to old Monterey. The aquarium the fishing pier Fishermans wharf. 4 miles to Carmel by the sea the grounds are lovely the pool clean and in a beautiful setting the rooms are exquisite the beds so comfortable”

“This was a nice hotel they have a pool , soda machine, they told us the pool was heating but no it wasn't very cold , but that doesn't take away the good service the receptionist very nice ,I wish I could remember her name”

“Friendly staff and a spacious, clean room. Wifi was free and the room design felt modern. It is located close to Monterey Aquarium and the beach, with only a few minutes drive. The location is quiet but the room soundproofing is poor as I can hear kids running around from the hotel room above. The bathroom included cups and shower amenities which is nice. There was also a closet with clothes hangers and clothing iron. There is adjustable bedside lighting. Room service is good as they provided towels and changed the trash can. Overall felt like a good hotel at affordable price, as I did not get a 2-star or motel vibe with this hotel. Also the pool is a nice touch even if we did not use it.”

“Everything was great. We got to our room at 1am and it was exactly what we needed. People at the desk in the morning were great and let us leave our bags with them for a few hours while we walked around. My only note the shower water pressure wasn’t very good. But everything else the whole trip was great!
Would definitely come again”

“Stayed here with my boyfriend and it was such an easy process to check in and out, our room was clean, and the location is very convenient relative to everything nearby. We'll definitely come back for our next stay in Monterey!

Parking can get a bit cramped, but we always had a spot to park in. Would suggest to park early in the day if you want a spot right by your room.”

“We stayed here for one night as we drove down the coast. Good location and value. Just be aware the rooms have no ac and there was nothing about this upon booking. It was cool while we were there, but could see it being uncomfortable on a warm day.”

“This is an excellent Super 8 and we would not hesitate to stay here again. The innkeepers are the cutest and sweetest people and were kind enough to accommodate our late night check-in and helped us with a food request due to us arriving so late even though the office was already closed. The rooms are extremely clean, comfortable and quiet even though it is next to a main road. Denny's is right across the street if you are not an early riser and want a later breakfast. You won't find a better priced place that is clean in my opinion in this area. Don't hesitate to book!”

“We had a great family experience! THE smoothest and fastest check-in process. Although check in was at 4, we were able to park there earlier in the day. The location is ideal, everything our family wanted to do was in walking distance and right off a great walking/bike path. The staff were all incredibly sweet and seemed happy to be there. Check out was also quick and easy. Overall great hospitality and a place we will stay at in the future.”

“We stayed here at the beginning of June 2026, and since it was mid week, the property was fairly quiet. We’ve stayed multiple times in the “honeymoon suite,” and it was great to see that it’s been updated—the back deck has been refurbished and the trees have grown and the Rhodie was blooming. The old tub has been replaced with a shower, and everything was spotless. New tech has been added as well, and the rooms were extremely clean and comfortable.
The only drawback is that the view is partially blocked by the large, rather garish Marriott next door. Even so, the beautiful grounds and the excellent location more than make up for it. It’s just a few blocks from the wharf and the downtown strip, making it easy to explore on foot. And with the trolley running nearby, getting to and from Cannery Row is simple and stress free.
It is on the pricier side (as are the other rooms), so it’s worth keeping an eye out for deals or visiting during the off season. That said, the updates, cleanliness, and peaceful atmosphere make it a genuinely lovely place to stay.”

“The room was great—clean, comfortable, and it had a beautiful view. Since the hotel is located along the coast, the room didn't have air conditioning, but that wasn't a major issue. They provided a box fan, which helped keep the air circulating and made the room comfortable. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely consider staying here again.”
