I needed special screws for a project. Called got an employee named Kurtis. He was clear and direct with what I needed, when I arrived there he was to help with what I needed! Please do not waste you time at bigger stores with perhaps ALL the things. They have what you need here plus speed, accuracy and willingness to help! Loved my visit . Wish I needed more today!”

Highly recommend this hardware store. Before coming here I went to Pagano Hardware at South Shore Center. They have barely anything I wanted or low stock.”
“I don't live near this hardware store. It's a bit of a grind to drive to here. And there are other hardware stores closer to me.
But no matter what I need, I aways take the time and make the effort to patronize this place.
Brian is the man who has impressed me with his down home demeanor and helpful approach to treating customers. But, everyone I've met at this store are helpful and knowledgeable.
And if you have some time on your hands even the customers can be fun to engage with. I've had some customers ask me if I worked there!

“Last week, I purchased a pizza slicer from another store, but it broke when I attempted to use it. I came to Laurel Ace to get a replacement because I know that its products are sturdy.
Marcos, the associate who assisted me, not only directed me to the proper aisle, but, to my surprise and gratification, TESTED the slicer to make sure that it would hold up! As if this wasn't enough, I also told me that I could bring it back if I had any problems.
I ALWAYS get great service at my neighborhood Ace, but young Marcos is among the BEST associates who I've ever been blessed to deal with. You can NEVER lose by going to Laurel Ace, particularly if he assists you.”

“My boyfriend and I stop by here at least a couple times a month because it's close to his place, we both like supporting local businesses, and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. When it came time to upgrade his grill, my boyfriend wanted to patronize the Moraga Ace. He had spent a couple of weeks researching grills, and we went to several stores to look at their inventory. In the end, the grill we chose was not in stock at Moraga Ace, so the owner, Bill, worked with us directly to order the grill. He and his staff assembled and delivered the grill, then Bill gave us several tips on where to put the grill in the backyard and made sure that we were both comfortable connecting and disconnecting the propane tank, turning the propane on, and lighting the various burners. Then he gave us a few tips about how to grill different types of meats and veggies! He even threw in a complimentary long-handled grill brush. Later that weekend, we dropped in for some non-grill-related items and Bill made sure to greet us and ask how the new grill was working out for us. :)”
“I appreciate this place :). OSH is old school and much more pleasant experience than other big hardware stores. They have all the basic. More specialized things might call for other stores but this is my go-to whenever possible.
Finding someone to help isn't always the easiest but it's likely because they are helping someone else.
I always get great support and friendly people.
Philip Rogers was working temporarily at the Ashby store from his normal Moraga location... And he was awesome. We tracked down exactly what I needed and had a great conversation to top it off about the history of sound recording for movies and music in Emeryville/Berkeley and some of the trailblazers in the area (which he is one of).

“The only lumber yard where they help you load up most of the time. And help you pick through for the good stuff. We go out of our way to go here. And everyone likes their jobs there. That says a lot to me about management.”

“Ace is the place with helpful hardware folks! But seriously though, this store always has a variety of employees with knowledge to help you find what you need and have practical advice to stop you from buying what you don’t.
The store has everything you could possibly ever need in and outside of the house. You’ll find every tool and supply to complete those DIY projects and home maintenance. You can also pick up a new grill and replace your string of lights for the holidays.
It’s also right next to the garden center which has a fantastic selection year round and has equally amazing employees. Super helpful!
