“I've stayed here a dozen times or more over the last 30 years. nice neighborhood. its absolutely totally fine. you can ding a hotel anywhere but for affordable nothing beats this and they are nice and have free parking and close to pier 39... haters should go stay at nearby $500 /night hotels and complain about those.”

“Really great spot! Excellent location and quiet hotel. We were in town for an audition and the staff was really accommodating with giving us an extra quiet room and allowing late check-out. The garden is lovely! Super friendly staff and comfortable rooms. It's an older building, so there are some quirks that come along with that, but it adds charm!”

“Had a wonderful six night stay at the Chancellor Hotel. Our room was spotlessly clean very comfortable with lots of thoughtful extras e.g. bath salts for the tub and lots of mirrors in the bathroom. The staff were all lovely, and very helpful. The coffee machine and cookies in reception were an added bonus!”

“This is my favorite hotel in San Francisco, I’ve stayed here many times. The rooms are spacious, the decor is understated and elegant, the staff is impeccable. There’s a Blue Bottle Coffee next-door and an Equinox in the building. A number of the nearby hotels are having union issues and there are a lot of protests -The Four Seasons had no such issues, so not only did I not cross a picket line, I had a quiet night’s sleep.

Food and drinks: The coffee at the hotel is just average so thankfully there is a blue bottle coffee shop next-door!”

“Aside from one particular detail, I had a great stay here a couple months ago. They have great rooms and wonderful staff. Unfortunately there was one front desk employee who kept locking the hotel doors every evening, so I had to knock and wait when returning to my room late, and he also asked me to prove I was staying there by showing him my keycard when I returned between 10 and 11pm. As I was working in SF and attending work events late into the evening, it didn’t feel very nice to be treated like a criminal. I’m not sure if this is standard practice for this hotel (he didn’t ask any other guests for their keycard, and the other employees who worked late on other nights didn’t lock me out) but I hope they will change this, as it’s the main reason I would not stay here again.”

“We’re a family of 4 and stayed at the argonaut for a few night visiting San Francisco in august. Overall, we had a very good experience. The beds are comfortable, the double quin room we got was roomy and the room had a nice design (but the view was practically not relevant). The hotel location is excellent with many cafes and restaurants around and the hotel staff was very accommodating and very helpful. We recommend this hotel.”

“The Marina Hotel is GORGEOUS. I love how the entire courtyard is surrounded by beautiful greenery and pretty things that fly, seeming as if the hotel is in the midst of being overtaken by nature.”

“Amazing staff. Beautiful hotel within the financial district. The included breakfast every morning was superb and in an amazing setting. The only opportunity I would suggest is offering dressers/a chest of drawers in the rooms. Otherwise, fabulous!”

“The Parker Guest House was an amazing addition to our SF trip! Perfect location. Cute rooms. But the staff is really where this small hotel shines. Would especially like to complement Thomas who was the kindest, friendliest, and most helpful person I’ve ever encountered in the hotel industry. Can’t say thank you enough.”

“Property is centrally located. Very neat and clean rooms. The movie kiosk/ mini theater was a good experience. Pop corn was served during movie. Even the coffee/tea hall is splendid in nature. Best place for brewing.

The only thing which hit me hard is charging of house keeping charges while check out. No mention what so ever was made while check in process or even during the stay. The price of suite which seemed to be cheaper became a night mare. This incidence lost all my cool and happiness factor.
Rest it is the most ideal place for short picnic to San Francisco.”

“An unforgettable stay!
The location, right in the middle of the park with Golden Gate views is absolutely spectacular. The hotel is beautifully designed, spotless, and peaceful. Staff are warm and welcoming. We loved the healthy breakfast, the cozy wine & cheese hour, and the all-day coffee & tea station. Truly a hidden gem in San Francisco! ??”

“It is what it is. Clean, good location, good value. But nothing fancy. The rooms are a little dated. The furniture is 20th century (including a clock radio with CD player). Carpet in our room was a little worn. Bed was a little bit hard with really flat pillows. But the place is well maintained. The area felt safe, although heard people yelling in the street in the middle of the night. Typical city sounds at night like sirens and street sweeper. It’s not high rise so will be close to street. The front desk is located in the first floor of the parking garage so we parked right by that. The location is good with some decent restaurants a 5 min walk away. No fitness center, pool or breakfast. There is a safe in the room, coffee maker, and iron. No fridge or microwave. Our room was spacious. The staff were all GREAT, from the front desk to housekeeping. Phat was especially helpful when we forgot some medication in our room.”

“Pretty decent stay with just a few issues for how much the hotel costs. Our room smelled with a strange odor the whole time. I assumed it would go away but it didn't. Also the bathroom is very nice and upgraded , but the shower head placement is terrible. It's at nose height (I'm average height), so you have duck in order to be under it. Employees are all very nice, but I wouldn't stay again unless addressed.”

“Beautiful and unique bed and breakfast serviced and operated by the one and only Sheila Rubinson! She welcomes you into her home and will give you a beautiful and interesting tour before showing you your room. Had a very comfortable short stay here and would definitely come back again. Other guests were very pleasant and I enjoyed the breakfast as well too, though not a lot of vegetarian or vegan options. Beautiful garden in the back as well.”

“Loved it here. Comfy and clean room, great location right by the Lombard & Filmore bus stop.
The staff was super nice, they even let us store our luggage after check out. And great value for the money!”

“Great place. Nice fire places and areas to hang out and read a book or just chill. Service is good. Like most of San Francisco, you have to bee concerned about leaving anything in your car.”

“The Mayflower Hotel was wonderful. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, the rooms were great, and the decor was beautiful. I love that they kept the 1920s vibe - especially the gated elevators - that was a treat!”

“Super! This place is perfect. It’s just the right amount of everything. The cleaners are super lovely. All the self check in is very smooth. We would definitely recommend this place to others. Clean, cozy, to the point and enjoyable ❤️”

“This hotel is an exceptional value for the price. I knew from pictures it was an older motel-style hotel, but they've done a great job modernizing and equipping the rooms.

The hotel is in a safe, lively area with just about everything you need for a short or long stay. I'm in my 60s and was traveling alone and felt perfectly safe here. I walked everywhere and I'm so happy I chose this area rather than an overpriced, over-hyped hotel in the downtown area.

The hotel is quiet and the staff are all very friendly. I will stay here in the future and look forward to my next visit.”

“This really is somewhere that you would enjoy spending more than one night. We were sad to leave! Each member of staff we encountered was lovely, the decor was beautiful (the lobby and lift were very cool) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was great, too.We particularly enjoyed our conversations with the lovely Manoj on reception, who gave us such a warm welcome on arrival and kindly assisted with an early check-in, a surprise room upgrade (beautiful room) and helped us arrange a taxi when we were in a rush to get to our pre-arranged tour on Alcatraz. Thank you so much - you made our stay so special and we will remember your kind hospitality.”

“I expected the location to be cool, which it is, and the pool to be fun, which it is. But the friendliness of the staff from the front desk to the cleaners impressed!”

“This was both my wife’s and is first trip to SF and we got very lucky with the Hotel Griffon! I must have looked at the reviews, deals, locations, neighborhoods, more reviews, Reddit threads of 100 different hotels, and I couldn’t tell you why I ended up picking Hotel Griffon at the time but it was such a great stay in an amazing spot! Big fan of the boutique hotel vibe and all the character the building has and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our bay view room wasn’t the biggest (but how big do you really need when all you are doing is sleeping in it?), but was super clean and really delivered on the bay view (see attached pic), also the slight possibility that our room/the hotel is just a little haunted… there was a playful energy in the bathroom and elevator! We were both a big fan of the late night, gourmet bar food from the attached restaurant, Perry’s, as well! Overall, I don’t have enough great things to say about the Hotel Griffon!

Safety: Felt very safe in the neighborhood and walked/scootered everywhere at all hours of the day and night.”

“I'd cancel my trip to San Francisco if I can't stay at Music City Hotel! The staff: lovely. The rooms: clean, efficient, comfy. The location: I love Bus 19!”

“what a place !!! parking is available. rooms are clean and the shower speed was amazing. you can hear people talking outside but otherwise, the facilities were modest and just about right to get you sorted with day travel.

the golden gate bridge is 6 mins away. plenty gorgeous sites in marina district.

the food options are plenty on chestnut street—a few blocks away.

the staff was kindly as well, brought me water bottles when they noticed i was too tired to go out. this visit has inspired us to explore more motels in the US.”

“We stayed at this hotel approximately 2 weeks ago and had an issue with check in. I left a review stating my frustrations and promptly received a call the next morning from the manager, Steve H. He listened to me without interruption, and at the end said he wanted to make it right and correct what had happened. I greatly appreciate his customer service and willingness to xontact me to see how the issue could be resolved.

As I stated in my original review, the hotel is in a great location, very close within walking distance to so many poular attractions. There were four of us staying in the hotel, so we made sure to book someplace that had free breakfast, and the breakfast was amazing! We would fill up each morning before we headed out to hit the city. Also, and added perk, all of the concierges were so helpful and knowledgeable.

Thank you IHG for the wonderful customer service in a world where that's not always the case. We will definitely be staying here again when we retun.

Happy Hoosier Family”

“Disappointing when you’re staying 2 1/2 weeks and someone is checking in for one night and they get a welcome bag AND a bottle of wine but you got nothing. Seems a bit odd.”

“Stayed here for a couple of nights to attend a wedding. Got a good deal with all sorts of upgrades and extras by booking through Amex. From check-in to departure the entire staff was helpful, polite, and so very kind. The staff is a huge reason for the 5 star rating. We stayed in a Grand Deluxe king room and it was very well appointed. All the furnishings were newer, the room had a great view, plenty of water, robes, slippers, etc. Location was central, walking distance to tons of shopping and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.”

“Stayed here for one evening as it was centrally located to an appointment. The service was so kind and they have everything I need. The room and bed were comfortable, the bathroom amenities were nice, and it was quiet during the evening. I'm very appreciative to the front desk staff who assisted me - they offered things I needed and made a photocopy for me. The lounge next door was perfect when I just wanted to relax and get a quick bite. Will stay here again.”

“There were the drinks and food items I ordered at the Library Bar and at Penrose. The sour dough hit the spot and the octopus was perfectly textured and flavorful.”
