The Donatello is a centrally located hotel near Union Square, close to public transportation and many downtown businesses. Guests describe it as an ideal place for a short visit to San Francisco. The rooms are noted as being very neat and clean, spacious, and beautiful, often with unexpected kitchenettes. The king size bed is very comfortable. The staff receives consistent praise for being friendly, helpful, and going above and beyond. The hotel offers several amenities, including a splendid coffee and tea hall, a nice rooftop, and an amazing Italian restaurant with excellent food and drinks. Valet parking is available. Some guests enjoyed a movie kiosk or mini theater with popcorn. However, there are notable drawbacks. Some rooms have issues with temperature control, being either very cold from drafts or too hot. Soundproofing can be poor, allowing street noise. The fitness room is considered tiny, inadequate, and a dismal disappointment. There is no convenience store in the hotel. Some guests were surprised by additional housekeeping charges at checkout, which were not mentioned beforehand. Parking can be pricey. The location is also described as being on the edge of sketchiness. Despite these issues, many would stay again or recommend it.
Lovely hotel, staff is amazing and rooms spacious. Only downside are windows which aren’t sound proof: so you definitely hear the noise of downtown.

Very nice hotel in the heart of San Francisco. Room was surprisingly spacious, bed was super-comfortable, bathroom was great, staff was friendly and helpful.
Overall, great experience here. Highly recommend.
