“Very nice and clean Hotel just down the street from the Coach House, near the beach and plenty of parking. Nice large rooms with full kitchens and pull out sofas for guests. I'll definitely be back next time I'm visiting Dana Point/ San Juan Capistrano.”

“I was happy with the hotel room conditions. I had a “balcony”, which was really just a patio with wall around it. It was still nice to leave open and sit outside. Shower was hot and the bathroom was clean. The bed was comfortable, soft, and clean. Location is interesting, there’s not a lot around at that exit.”

“The location of the hotel is fantastic, right in the heart of San Clemente and walking distance to the beach. The Nomads Canteen is above the hotel and offers a nice beer menu, full bar and tasty, fresh food. The vibe in the bar is great and there is a large outdoor patio with a fire pit.

The room we had was big, with 3 beds (2 queen, 1 double), a small kitchen area with a good size fridge and a microwave, and a large shower.

They also offer a surf camp, which we might have taken advantage of if we’d had more time in the area.

The canteen is quite loud until 11pm, with music and chairs scraping. There are ear plugs and a white noise machine in the room, which helped a lot. From midnight to morning it’s nice and quiet.

There are 10 parking spots available that are shared with the canteen, so you need to get there before evening to beat the bar crowd.

Overall, it’s a great location and nice, funky vibe hotel. The staff communicates well, even though it’s a self serve entry.”

“Rooms are 3 stars but you will never be in them, you’ll spend your time at the beach and on the really beautiful grounds. 5 stars because of Bachir, one of the front desk people.”

“I'm amazed at the service specialist team who put the scenario together for tourism at Laguna Beach, where there's resources and playful like humorous staff and visitors.
The rooms are influenced by the environment and the people of those surroundings.
The location is perfect perception and right interpretation in the form of enjoyment, laughter and unforgettable sightings.”

“Everything was amazing from food, cleanliness and location.

We did communicate this. There was only one particular surprise where one of the desk attendants told us that the lobby closed. We had a long day and brought a pizza back (it was 9:50p.m.) for our leadership team to share and the attendant came and said the lobby closes in 5 minutes and couldn't stay, which we had never heard of before.”

“This is a quality hotel that offers great service. The most important quality was customer service at all levels of the organization. This includes the front desk, bellman, valet, room service, security, all servers in each and every restaurant we visited during our stay were great. The food was delicious! This hotel is my favorite and I have travelled a lot in my career. This will be a place I will go to annually.

Rooms: Our view was fantastic. Housekeeping was great.

Nearby activities: The town of Dana Point gives you access to the harbor and unique shopping. You can take a trolley to Laguna Beach and enjoy boutique shops and art galleries.

Walkability: You never have to leave the hotel. Everything is floor away. Excursions to the beach with all the supplies you need. Food and drink are always available.

Food and drinks: All restaurants are five star and the servers are fantastic.

Noteworthy details: The hotel offers excursions like whale watching and hiking”

“I chose Blue Lantern Inn for my bachelorette weekend in Dana Point and it was absolutely dreamy! I had the pleasure of working with the Group & Special Events Coordinator, Carmen Hoffarth, who created our room block with special accommodations for my friends, which she did without hesitation when I asked (despite it causing more work for her on the back end). My party flew in from out-of-state and they were totally blown away by the views of the harbor, which were spectacular, and the quality of the breakfast and happy hours. The food was much better than you'd get at a typical hotel... homemade and hearty.

We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!”

“A true hidden gem among coastal hotels in California, and I'm not exaggerating! If you like low-key, easy to access rooms, without the hassle of heading down elevators, crossing major streets, etc. etc. to get the beach, then this is your place. We got a studio room with a kitchenette and big personal patio. Super clean inside, everything worked perfectly, windows were clean, and the views were out of this world. There were tons of windows to open and the sea breeze was perfect. We had a great couple of nights here!”

“This hotel is all about location. It's right on the main road through town, and better yet it's right up the hill from the beach.

From your room just walk down the path less than a minute and you're on the beach. They're also nice enough to supply beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards.

And when you're done with the beach, the hotel is placed right on the main drag, walkable to all the shops and restaurants.

The view from the room is amazing, directly looking out over the pacific. Also outside the window was a bush covered in flowers with a family of hummingbirds who were quite entertaining. There was also a small balcony with lounge chairs and an umbrella (if you don't feel like walking down to the beach).

The room was not huge, but the bed was comfortable, and pointed right at the windows so waking up to the sound of the waves and that view was a perfect start to the day.

There were plenty of drawers for storing our belongings which I appreciated. The bathroom was fine, again not huge, and no tub but the shower worked well enough to rinse the beach off.

Finding the hotel and parking was easy (pull into the courtyard and hand the keys to the valet) although not especially cheap ($38 per day) but that's not too far off what you'd pay all day at the meters.

Staff were friendly and nice but nothing over and above. Check-in & out were quick and easy.

The pool was ok, it's in a kind of quirky semi-covered building so there's some shade but not a lot. It's on the street side of the property so no ocean view which would have been nice but oh well.

Honestly the property seemed like it could use a bit more maintenance, but in the end it didn't matter that much. If you're looking for luxury this is maybe not the hotel for you, but the view and location made up for everything else.”

“We stay at the Tides Inn every time we come to Laguna Beach. Our room has a kitchenette with a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a Kurig coffee maker. Anderson greets you by name and makes you feel like you're coming home!”

“My husband and I stayed at the Laguna Beach House for two nights & our only regret is that we didn't plan to stay longer! We had the absolute best time hanging out around the pool/fire pit, relaxing in our room and hanging in the lobby space. We were blown away by the hospitality-- from the kind welcome to the fresh cookies they served guests in the evening. We loved how we were just a short walk away from the beach, shops, and restaurants! We will absolutely be back!!”

“We’ve done some traveling through our timeshare and the stay at the Four Seasons Pacifica was done through trading at II. We stayed in 3 bed, 2 car garage unit(Las Brisas). The view, quality kitchen equipments, and spacious unit made our vacation a dream. It was definitely one of the best experience we had! Looking forward to go back, when it is available through II again.Just want to mention that it is not a hotel, but a small 5 unit condo type accommodation.”

“enjoyed a peaceful stay, kinda close to the beach - 5-10 min. walk down/up the hill. a little bit farther away from downtown but not too far, very drive-able, fairly safe and secure area, it was a nice 1 week stay for us.

Rooms: we got a studio, kinda small for 2 ppl but tolerable. nice kitchenette, good enuf for our purposes, and they had kitchen utensils and silverware.

Nearby activities: none that i looked into besides the daily beach excursions.

Safety: fairly safe and secure area.

Walkability: 5-10 min to the calafia beach

Food and drinks: only 1-1.5 miles from downtown sc and a little further for grocery/chain store shopping.

“Great experience! Very friendly and accommodating! They found a way for my husband to park his large truck when we arrived. We also forgot our food in the fridge after checkout, and they allowed us to go back in and grab it. Room was very clean. They are awesome! I highly recommend.”

“LOVED LOVED LOVED staying here! The vibes and views of this place are incredible! Each room has a kitchen, the fireplace at night was amazing, the property also has comfy lounge chairs and the grass is so nice to lay and play on. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, rooms were clean and our bed was comfortable! It is just a few minute walk to the pier, beach and free trolley stops. There is a convenient store nearby for snacks. Would 10/10 recommend!!!”

“Great stay and great view. Carlos was great making reservations and helping with check in. Can't beat location and price with the awesome ocean view on the balcony. The only thing I would say, which wasn't a big deal was there is no clock in the room and the trash cans are very small. One in bathroom and one in living room. I would definitely stay again.”

“Rooms are a bit long in the tooth but considering how long the building has been there....it's not bad. It's just not the Montage.

Service is very good. Staff is friendly and courteous. Very helpful. For the money it's worth it.”

“It's a little confusing to get to because it's on a hill, but you rest very well. We sleep with the climate on without realizing it and we are very cold. Other than that, I recommend ?”

“★★★½ Solid Comfort, Room for Improvement

My recent stay at the TownePlace Suites in Irvine Lake Forest was generally pleasant, though not without a few drawbacks. The hotel delivers on most of the Marriott brand promises, offering clean, spacious suites and friendly service.

The Good:
The rooms are well-maintained and provide ample space to spread out, with the living area nicely separated from the sleeping space. The staff was attentive and professional, handling check-in efficiently. The location proved convenient for my business in the area, with easy access to major roads and nearby amenities. The complimentary Wi-Fi performed reliably throughout my stay.

The Average:
While the hotel is clean, some of the furnishings and fixtures are starting to show their age. Nothing was broken or dysfunctional, but you can tell this isn't the newest property in the Marriott portfolio. Parking was adequate but filled up quickly during peak hours.

Needs Improvement:
The complimentary breakfast, while convenient, was disappointing from a nutritional standpoint. The offerings leaned heavily on processed carbs and sugary options. I would have appreciated more fresh fruit options, plain yogurt (not the sugar-loaded varieties), and perhaps some more protein-focused choices beyond the standard powdered eggs. For a health-conscious traveler, the breakfast spread left much to be desired.

Bottom Line:
If you're looking for a reliable, comfortable stay in Irvine Lake Forest without breaking the bank, TownePlace Suites delivers adequately. Just don't expect to be wowed, and consider grabbing breakfast elsewhere if you prioritize healthy eating.”

“Really nice cottage in a great location! Friendly and uncomplicated contact. Great amenities, clean, good value for money (given that California is very expensive and other locations that were not nearly as nice had about the same asking price).Rooms: Two levels, lower level had kitchenette and dining table, upper level had living room, bedroom and bathroom with bathtub.”

“The wellness suite room we got was very noisy as it was facing probably the main road, so sleep was disruptive. If I had known, I would have requested a different one. Otherwise the location is great for the hotel and lots of places to eat outside the hotel at walking distance. The Irvine spectrum center is within few minutes drive which is a popular spot if you want to do shopping.”

“Stayed with my husband for a last minute trip because our flight got canceled and we were skeptical due to reviews. However, we were pleasantly delighted and impressed with how wonderful the room was for such a great price and couldn’t be in a better location. There were so many shops and food spots in a walking distance. The room had Roku and the bed was super comfortable!! What a wonderful stay. Thank you Surf break we will definitely be back!”

“Used a free night stay, in order to attend a concert.
Was greeted by Maria with a goodie bag & signed Birthday card - how did they know???
Place looks like converted condo/apt complex.
Room was very nice. Had full kitchen & eating area. Shower stall, comfy bed.
Wish I had known about this hotel sooner. I absolutely would have spent more than a day there.”
