“I went to First Bank to open a business account today. No appointment. I was greeted and assisted promptly. The account was open with a very thorough explanation of every aspect and feature. No “gotchas”. I was not prompted or asked to leave a review. I’m doing so because I have never had such a pleasant experience with a bank before. A BANK! First Bank really brought back the personal experience in banking. I just wished I’d opened an account with them sooner.”
“First time walking into this branch and just wow! They are so nice and helpful. The branch is so clean and colorfully decorated in the PCU colors. They have an ATM at this branch too. I usually go to the pleasanton one and they were able to have a conversation about how awesome the staff are at the pleasanton one - I love that they all know each other like family.”
“I came to BMO one day to open my first bank account because my family trusts this bank a lot. Katrina helped me set up my checking & savings accounts, and gave me all the resources and instructions I needed. She presented everything in a way that was easy to understand and showed me how to navigate the bank. I was just really surprised by the hospitality of the services here. I even got some free BMO swag when we were done!
They seemed a little short staffed on the day I came, but it wasn't very busy to begin with. I wonder if a lot of these negative reviews I am seeing are from when this bank was still Bank of the West, because I haven't noticed any problems with BMO (yet). Overall, 4/5.”

“I have been an occasional customer of the Wells Fargo Bank branch in downtown San Mateo for years. My experiences here have always been great. Located on 4th Avenue, the bank is one of few establishments in the area with its own parking lot. At times, the lot can be at full capacity, forcing customers to either idly wait for a space to free up or to park at a nearby public lot and walk a short distance. The branch offers an ATM machine at the front entrance and a few more at the rear of the building, facing the parking lot. Inside, the spacious and clean venue provides seating in the lobby area, new accounts section, and nearby the back entrance. Service is typically quick and smooth, even if you fall into a long queue. During my most recent visit on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the tellers were very friendly and served customers with warmth and smiles. I was so impressed that I was compelled to ask to speak to the Manager on Duty to provide my positive experience, sharing my observations of client support from individuals who appeared to prioritize customer care with enjoyment. The Manager thanked me for the accolades given and agreed that the hard-working tellers deserved the recognition. Banking can feel like a tedious chore. Thank you, Wells Fargo Downtown San Mateo, for demonstrating that a trip to the bank doesn't need to be dreary nor unenjoyable.”
“I went to the bank today thinking they may close for Thanksgiving weekend. I was surprised that they said would open Friday and Saturday as usual. The tellers are always smile and call me by my name. They always pay attention and tentative to my needs, such as getting small bills and changes. They are well dress too, shirts/ties, clean neatly outfits, especially Leeanne very properly dress and professional. I have been a customer since 1983 with them when it was Bank of Canton. I am a very happy loyal customer. Keep up the great work!!”

“My mom attempted to order checks via the automated phone attendant/AI and that system failed to the point where she didn't know if the order went through and if it did , how many checks had been ordered. She drove over there and spoke to an employee named David and he got it all straightened out for her. He was very helpful and friendly. US Bank should make sure to do what they can to retain this young man.”
