“I use this butcher my ethnic cuts. For example when I need Greek gyro meat mix I give them a weeks notice so when trim the custard used in my mix they store the trim in a freezer so when it’s time for my large bbq gathering I get 29 of custom blen for half what Costco sells me as just off the rack non custom. They grind it exactly the grind I want. To use this butcher for custom work line this give them at least a weeks notice tell them how you will prepare the meat and take advantage of the lie expert trimming and blending. They have the tools and the skill you just need to treat them like your assistant chef I have quibbled or haggled over price yet I always pay less than the chain and I get perfect. If you have a special seasoning or rub , most likely they will grind or mix it in for you. If you like aged ( who doesn’t, be sure to ask and pay for it upfront remembering that aging can easily take thee weeks !”

If they don't have what you're looking for, they take requests and might just be able to help you! Some things I've been getting here that have been hard to find elsewhere: pandan leaves, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, Thai basil, lemongrass, Thai chili (chili padi/bird's eye chili), century eggs, a huge array of Japanese noodles like somen and udon, harissa. And I feel like I discover more ingredients every time I visit!”

“I come to Mow Lee to purchase their best cured meats all the time. This is one of the main reasons I visited San Francisco Chinatown even during the pandemic years. I like their cured duck, cured meat, and lap cheony (Chinese sausage). They are made there using the traditional Chinese method—the best-tasting in California, in my opinion. The store is old but clean. The lady there is very friendly and knowledgeable. Mow Lee is one of the best stores in town when it comes to cured meats.”

“We ordered: - 8 Whole Boxes of Povi Masima We've been coming to Robert's Corned Meats to get our Povi for years, literally since I was a child. It is also the oldest corned beef company established in San Francisco as well. We only like to get our Povi from Roberts Corned Meats because the quality of it beats anywhere else. I've tried other Povi Masimas and can taste the difference. NOBODY and I mean NOBODY is touching Robert's Corned Meats. The gentleman Edgar I believe was his name had helped us as we did an over the phone order for 8 whole boxes and asked them to seal each one as we were sending the boxes to family overseas. The transaction was very fast as always! Sign a paper, provide the money and wait for your boxes to come out. Boom, done! Each time we get an order, the worker always provides the service to load our car with the Povi which is such a huge plus! We really appreciate the generosity and great service each visit! This is why this place gets such a high rating, the service is top tier and the meats are top notch! The parking is super rough as it's on one of the busiest streets in the city near the freeways but trust me it's worth the struggle. There is an alleyway around the corner of the building you can park in but it is a hit or miss. It is also cash preferred/only as well! The inside of the place is always clear and neutral setting. I love that it has so many old school pictures to view! It's also very clean as well! They offer so many other meats as well, sausages, bacon, linguica, pastrami, brisket, beef tongue, pork legs and cooked meats. I might be missing a few but I'm telling you, this is the place to get your meats. It's truly worth it! There is a reason Roberts Corned Meats are still in business for so many years, they are the real deal. Thank you Roberts Corned Meats for your amazing service and items served, you've placed a mark on a lot of us Polynesians - specifically my Samoan people. The functions won't ever be the same without your Povi Masima! I hope you all look into this place and love it just as my family and folks do. You won't regret it.”

They have an entire island dedicated to excellent chocolate bars with lots of bean to bar options. They feature local chocolate makers and international ones making chocolate bars with cacao beans grown all over. “I’ve bought meat from here (chicken and beef) at least three times. The first time, there was a Muslim brother at the register who helped me out and told me a little about the store’s origins. This was back in early 2024 and the store had been around for at least 1 year before I found it. Other times I have gone are after midday prayer. On those trips, the folks behind the counter are not Muslim and don’t know much about how the meat is butchered. Once I was helped by a nice lady who was more comfortable speaking Spanish than English. We made it work. Se habla español or take Google Translate with your to be safe. It is the Mission after all.”
