“I had a genuinely excellent experience with Dimitri, Brayden, and the team at Berg Performance with my 2017 VW Golf Alltrack.
I brought the car in with a number of symptoms that weren't particularly straightforward—drivetrain noise, some strange behavior under acceleration, a vibration on cold starts, and several other issues that had accumulated as the car has gotten older. What impressed me most was the way they approached the diagnosis.
Rather than immediately throwing expensive parts at the car, they worked through the problems methodically. One of the initial concerns was the bevel box, but they first serviced the fluid and continued testing the car. That made a significant improvement. They also continued investigating the cold-start vibration and ultimately discovered that the engine mount had completely collapsed. Replacing it eliminated a problem I'd been experiencing for quite some time.
Communication throughout the process was unusually good. I received detailed explanations, photos, estimates, and frequent updates about what they were finding and what they were still uncertain about. Dimitri was also extremely generous with his time answering my many questions over email.
I even had a friend who knows the car well come by the shop before I made my final decisions. Dimitri took the time to meet with him, drive the car with him, discuss what he was seeing, and let the two of us make our own decisions about what to address now and what to leave for later. There was a fairly substantial list of additional work that could eventually be done, and I never felt pressured to authorize all of it.
Berg isn't the least expensive shop I've used, but this experience reminded me that there are tradeoffs. I've paid less elsewhere, and sometimes the difference shows. Here I felt like I was paying for thoughtful diagnosis, excellent communication, transparency, experienced technicians, and a much higher level of service. For me, that has real value.
Most importantly, I came away feeling that I understood my car considerably better than when I brought it in and could make informed decisions about what was worth doing next.

Prices are very good, service is usually at least decent, usually very good. There's been a lot of staff turnover, you only see the same person working there for some number of months and they're gone but, they're always good to work with. We drove straight there without an appointment and explained the problem we were having, but that we had to get to Nebraska that evening.
