“I've been here multiple times and each visit has been great. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they're all just really nice people. I've purchased books, gifts, journals, all kinds of things here. In October I purchased a really nice leather journal for my daughter, and even though she's written in a fair amount of it, it's not showing any wear, which is awesome. I wanted something that would last her a long time and it looks like I made the right choice. And I cannot stress this enough so it bears repeating - the staff is wonderful. All very friendly, they've chatted with myself and my children, and seem very genuine. I haven't had a bad experience at all. I do miss the little cafe, but otherwise, it's a great bookstore.”

“MATTER is an incredible bookstore with design, social conscious, and urban studies books that are often hard to find, pulling from a wide range of publishers like Verso, Phaidon, MIT Press. Beyond the incredible curating, print making, and great customer service, you get the sense that MATTER is a true shop front: if you have a chance to strike up a conversation, then you find the uniqueness in the connection MATTER has to global publishing, activism, and authorship. Denver is a better and more enriched cultural city for having MATTER!”

“These are the best people in Denver for anything ttrpg related. They have found me several copies of hard to find pathfinder books and were totally right about our friend group in particular would probably enjoy 5e dnd way more. They aren't focused on selling you an expensive box set, they're focused on selling you an awesome experience with your friends. I won't buy my dice anywhere else!”

“This is my favorite Catholic gift shop! I find all I need here to support our religious life, whether it be gifts, books, incense, statues, cards, veils, etc. I most appreciate the children’s materials that complement our homeschool curriculum. Every single time we have come in here, we are treated like family. My children are welcome, and I am always so happy to see the owners and employees. This is definitely the place to go for a wide selection of goodies.”

“The Hermitage is by far the best store of its kind in Denver or in Colorado and a treasure for anyone who values books & literature. Whether one's looking for a particular book ( they'll search for you) or simply wanting to browse their excellent selection, I don't know a better place to spend part of an afternoon. The staff is knowledgeable & very friendly. Highly recommended.”

“This is such a special place! Be warned you might end up spending hours here looking through all their books! It’s such a cool concept! They sell hardbacks for $3 and paperbacks for $2. The new books at the front are priced individually though. They take donations and have membership options too! I left with a stack of books, and honestly can’t wait to come back!Did I mention it’s the oldest 2nd hand bookstore in Denver!”

“The Tattered Cover Bookstore and Cafe (Colfax loxation). Great place to grab a coffee, light snack and books. A local Barnes & Nobel with a more hometown feel. Stay and relax. When you're done go to the old school record shop 5 steps away that shares a pedestrian sidewalk.”

“I’ve been going here for years. I’ve gotten great readings from Alicia and even after I moved to another state, I still order or have my mom go here for me. These ladies are very nice especially Lais, she is knowledgeable and helpful and always goes above and beyond for costumer service and that’s why I still go with them even while I’m in a different state. I love it here.”

“Just the type of eclectic, independent bookstore that makes life interesting. Pleasant and helpful proprietors, with everything from first editions to opera music. Came away with a very interesting and obscure history book!”

“Has a respectable quantity of books across many genres for the size of shop--they're putting *every* square foot to use here. (That said, the space seems it could be a challenge for wheeled patrons, unfortunately.) The area is walkable and there is a nice patio outside but if you're driving into the area, parking might be an issue at times. Didn't find what I was looking for but wouldn't hesitate to go back.”

“This place was awesome. It’s a gem of a hole in the wall bookstore with a cozy vibe and honestly fire selection of books. Really had a super great time exploring here. It’s also right next to a record store so this whole corner is great to explore and shop.”

“What a cool shop! Elizabeth was extremely kind and helped us create a incredible beginner's selection of gems and minerals for a kid just getting into collecting. Even if you aren't a collector yourself, you'll still get lost viewing all the gorgeous and interesting displays around the store. Great selection of books, children's materials, and of course minerals, rocks, gems, etc. We will definitely be back!!”

“to those who complain about Full Moon Books and the staff. you get exactly what you deserve in each case when you visit this store. it is a wonderful experience based on who you are when you arrive. it is your vibration that gives you the feelings you have and how things turn out. “This is like walking through a Time Machine. I saw so many things I wanted to take home with me. I ended up purchasing a camera from the 1930s for my brother who's a photographer, it was $42. Mostly everything is priced well. Anything that is expensive is either signed, vintage with nostalgic value, and/or a piece of history. We'll be coming back!”

“What a wonderful gem! THIS is the place to go for Catholic books especially. Every book I’ve had my eye on and many that weren’t even on my radar are on these shelves. Lots of beautiful children’s books and coloring books, lovely prints, statues, jewelry, etc. Everything you need for gifts or to treat yourself. The owner was so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this shop!”

“It's was my 3rd time there. This time I had a specific agenda and need and it was met (a 50th birthday and a sympathy card). Always the best customer service and friendly/super helpful atmosphere! I will be back.”

“Ok so the original Black & Read a few miles north is amazing, but this little hole in the wall storefront is still full of charm!! I feel like it gets a bad rap being compared to the other store. But we had fun (and love eclectic records!). Lots of great records, great prices, and is far more organized than other (very old) reviews claim. If you want a quick stop for some good tunes, a family game, or something to read, definitely stop in (on Saturdays!). We'll be back for the next treasure hunt”

“Catherine helped us out in three different areas of the store. In the Horror Section, at Customer Service with a pre-order and at the cash register as well. She had a great attitude and was enthusiastically invested in assisting us with our purchases. She informed us of how to become a member and accurately took my information down. She is an asset to Barnes for sure! We left smiling!”

“Awesome!! I had a great experience looking for some Russian books to aid with learning the language. I was helped by the most kind and genuinely caring store clerk. She was able to recommend some good books for my level of learning and spent some time talking with me in Russian and encouraging me in my journey. I will definitely return when I am back in town!”
