“If you’re expecting luxury, this isn’t your destination. But if what you need is a straightforward, no‑nonsense place to rest your head for the night, this spot is a genuine bargain. The room was impressively clean, free of that telltale “cheap motel” smell, and—mercifully—free of the usual stained carpet. Instead, the shiny wood floors gave the space a fresher, more modern feel. The bathroom was equally clean and fully functional, nothing fancy but nothing to complain about either. What really stood out was the management’s courtesy: they graciously extended my checkout time by a full hour without hesitation, a small gesture that made a big difference. Overall, it’s a utilitarian stay done right—simple, clean, and considerate. If that’s what you’re after, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.”

“My husband and I stayed here in August for a few days so we could explore the area and spend time with my brother and his family, who were renting a cottage nearby. My mother came with us and rented her own room. It was the perfect home base to return to at night after spending an afternoon on a Lights and Sights cruise in New London and a day at the beach with my brother. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, and affordable. We liked that it had well-stocked kitchenette with a full size refrigerator. The owner was friendly and accommodating when we made our reservation, and again when I had to change it to a different date. We were easily able to get into our room using a code. It's a super short drive to Niantic, so we could easily drive to the bakery in the morning to pick up breakfast sandwiches and grinders for the beach and had plenty of restaurants to choose from, including in nearby Westbrook. My only suggestion is for the room to have at least one comfy chair, as it is plenty spacious to fit one and I would have preferred to not sit on the bed at night to watch TV or on the breakfast bar stool to drink my coffee, though I understand this is a personal preference. I ended up bringing in a beach chair for these purposes.”

“In celebrating my special needs daughter's 21st Birthday we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Mystic/Groton and we had dinner at the Garden Grille at the Inn - the entire staff made my daughter feel so special from having her favorite dinner that they don't have the menu to all of them coming out singing Happy Birthday with a piece of cheesecake and a candle. And a Happy Birthday card with gift card. Thank you all for being you.”

“I had a terrific experience with Alex on the phone and later in person getting me set up with a room. I thought the bed, room and bath were just fine for the price. If you want the Hilton experience, you should stay at the Hilton. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Very satisfied and went back for a second night after a day at Mystic Seaport. Thanks to the day and night folks at the front desk.”

“The room was decent and had a nice, fresh smell from whatever they sprayed. Overall, we had no major complaints about the room, but the pillows were probably our biggest issue. They weren’t very comfortable, and the shower had very low water pressure, with barely enough water coming out while showering. Lastly, the air conditioner wasn’t cool enough, although it did work. We couldn’t find the sauna anywhere, so we weren’t able to use it. The small indoor pool was alright, although when we went in, there were some bugs and hair in the water, which made us question how clean it actually was, even though we assume it was chlorinated. The breakfast was good overall, with eggs, sausage, two types of cereal, waffles, and oatmeal. Our only complaint was that there was no cold drinking water available—only hot water. One of the staff members told us that we could get bottled water from the front desk. If that’s the case, it would be helpful to mention this during check-in or have it written somewhere in the breakfast area so guests know. The service was fine, and we had no complaints about the staff. The location was definitely a plus, as everything we needed was nearby, and Mystic was only about 15 minutes away. There weren’t any rooms available in Mystic itself, so we ended up staying here instead, and honestly, we don’t regret it. We got a king-size room, which was what we had originally planned for anyway. Overall, it was a decent stay and worked well for our trip. Until next time!”
