“I found this place through Airbnb, but it wasn't listed as Another Second Penny there. I was intrigued by the age of the inn (1710) and the scenery outside. We stayed for one night, and we're pleased with the accommodation. The artifacts and details inside the house along with the construction materials used to construct the house were so cool. The floors, beams, fireplace, doors, and other small things we noticed were interesting to see. The house is surrounded by trees and foliage, quiet and private. There were also horses out back we visited and said hello to. Too bad the owners are selling. I hope a new owner as sweet as Sandra takes good care of the house next.”

“The Hotel Maria is a beautiful hotel right across from the ocean, so it's a super easy walk across the street to a pristine beach! The hotel allows guests to check out really comfortable beach chairs and towels to use for the day, so no need to lug additional beach gear on vacation. The beach did get pretty crowded on weekend days and I think some non-hotel guests were encroaching on the private beach, which is adjacent to a public-access beach. We were there over Labor Day weekend 2023.My family and I stayed in a suite at the back of the hotel with an awesome ocean view from the balcony. We could also see the view of the bay in the other direction. Guest service was excellent and the onsite restaurant was delicious. I liked the guest snack bar, which even included sparkling wine upon request.I'd definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Hotel Maria! As an EV (Tesla) owner, my only complaint is that when the hotel restaurant and parking lot got really crowded on weekend nights, non-EVs often parked in the one spot clearly marked as reserved for EVs—next to the Tesla destination charger (also a great feature of the hotel).I'd recommend that the hotel valets not park non-EVs in this spot (if they're doing that?) and that the hotel invest in at least one more Tesla charger, as I wasn't the only Tesla driver there during my stay. It wasn't too big of an issue, as I was able to charge enough when needed, but always frustrating when non-EVs park where they shouldn't.”

“A beautiful home with a wonderful innkeeper who is great to work with. Clean and comfy rooms, slept like a baby. Quiet neighborhood yet within a short walk of numerous shops and restaurants. Short drive to area museums. Breakfast was delicious with plentiful portions and excellent cookies and popcorn for afternoon/bedtime snacking. On site parking. Just completed our stay and we are making plans to return in a few months.K & B Gatlin”

“What a lovely place to spend the new year. The service was attentive and friendly, every detail was attended to, and the feel was relaxing and calm. You cannot beat the scenery, from every window and when you step out for a walk along the coast. The details were completely attended to…amazing waterfall shower, delicious chocolate at turn down, a pantry in the hallway filled with snacks and a coffee machine, and delicious food.”

“We stayed here the final night of our trip, thank goodness! The rooms are lovely and the mattresses are amazing! The 1st night we stayed at a Hilton Garden in NJ, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! The mattresses were like cardboard. The next 2 nights we stayed in a Holiday Inn in NH. The mattresses were better, but still a disappointment.Grateful to have an awesome night's sleep the final night of our trip, at The Hyatt Place.”

“It’s an awesome old home loaded with antiques and many stories surrounding them.Stayed in the oak room. The jetted tub and working fire place was lovely and relaxing. The bathroom for this room is adjacent to it and has another large garden tub and stand up shower.Being a very old home the floors are creaky , the beds are on the springy side and could use to be replaced but they were fine for a two night stay. The sheets and bedding are like the rest of the place eclectic and homey , after tossing through the pillows I found two with the texture and the fluffiness to my liking. The blankets are not the crisp white bleached sheets you typically see in hotels. I actually liked the fact that there were multiple layers of textured blankets on the bed and it felt comfortable, and more personal. There was a thermostat in the room which was nice, as I like it on the colder side at night.Evan is sweet as pie and his breakfasts were good! It was nice to wake up to the smell of breakfast first thing in the mornings (that I wasn’t cooking)If you do not like dogs this is not the place for you, the owner has one (who was friendly ) guest are also allowed to bring theirs. The house was actually very clean regardless of a dog living there and didn’t smell (that I noticed ).Maximalist is definitely applied to the homes decor style. There are antiques everywhere as well as large beautiful house plants. For the amount of decor it was actually remarkably dust free the owner said he had sone kind of automated dusting whole house unit. (I’ve never heard of such a thing but man, I want one!)If you are a boring beige Karen this is not going to be the place for you!Clearly if your allergic to dogs don’t stay at a dog friendly bnb. But you’d think that would be common sense.”

“Nice hotel at a good price. It's what you expect from a Hampton Inn, which is good. Rooms were clean. We could hear a lot of jumping around from the room above us but it calmed down by bedtime. Breakfast was good for a basic free meal. Eggs and sausage were OK but at least it was not just carbs. OK location but the rooms either overlooked a mobile home park or a hardware store. It was within walking distance of the Old Mystic Village and the aquarium.”

“We stayed at Watch Hill while attending a wedding at Ocean House. Everything was lovely, from start to finish. All the amenities and staff courtesies provided by Ocean House at half the cost - though both are quite pricey. Watch Hill is operated like a set of condo rentals, with little on-site staffing, but there is a small reception area with breakfast and evening snacks which we appreciated, and the Ocean House staff could not have been more accommodating in transporting us between the two properties (just a 2-3 block walk up/down a hill) and attending to our needs.”

“Great escape , the rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are clean and look great. I love the fact there's actual hot water. The house keeper is a sweetheart. I wish the price could go down a little bit more but other than that I'll be back !! ”

The fire pit is a wonderful addition. There is an actual lawn which most motels/hotels don't have.Carmine was able to swing a golf club.We are repeat guests. “Firstly, thank you to the wonderful staff from the front desk especially Stephan, Angie and Lewis, to Mary and the housekeeping staff. I had a very extended stay recently with my room on the second floor. The hotel is undergoing renovations with the first floor completed, the second floor about to begin, yet my room was spacious, bed very comfortable, mini fridge and microwave. The bath and shower were fine. My biggest complaint was that the hotel is Pet Friendly and I witnessed time and time again guests selfishly abusing the rules allowing them the convenience of bringing their dog(s) with them. I think the hotel should only allow credited Service Animals so those of us without pets can relax and not hear consistent barking from neglected pets while their owners go to the nearby casinos, etc. This is a older property and the owner and general manager need to step up and get things fixed immediately when there is a problem, from the outdoor pool needing the proper chemicals after the numerous rainstorms this summer, to the lobby/front desk air conditioning break down where the front desk staff had to deal with the unbearable heat and humidity , but lucky for the guests, we had air conditioning. The location is great, close to all the tourist attractions from Mystic Village, the Seaport and the casino, yet set back off the main road so it’s peaceful at night. There is a complimentary continual breakfast and great coffee. If you’re visiting the Mystic area, it’s a great place to stay! And you won’t find a better hotel staff to make your stay enjoyable! I would definately stay there again! Thanks again you guys!”

“Very clean. Night staff front desk was kind and friendly. Not terrible free breakfast. Decor was a bit odd. Wall coloring didn’t match the furniture and full laminate flooring in hotels is weird to me anywhere other than FL. We were just there one night for a place to sleep after a late dinner. Over all ok accommodations and way cheaper than Foxwoods.”

“Excellent hotel in a wonderful place. The only thing that really bothered me was that the Front Desk Sheleena Perry is a person who should not be serving the public since her treatment of my children and myself was very unpleasant and very disrespectful. I was also able to observe how he disrespected several guests. To be honest, the hotel and other employees like Ivonne from the kitchen department are excellent, but as for Sheleena Perry, she damages the good reputation of the hotel.”

The host was attentive and ensured that I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I highly recommend this accommodation.”
