Howl To the Chief
719 8th St SE, WashingtonI've been a loyal customer of Howl To The Chief for over six years, ever since my dog was a puppy. I can't say enough good things about this place. The customer service is always friendly and genuinely caring about the well-being of your pets. Their products are great quality, from food to toys to grooming supplies. And their baked goods are the best! My pup goes crazy for them. The best part of HTTC is their fantastic rewards program on pet food. It's a great way to save on future purchases and shows that they value their customers' loyalty. If you're in the area and need anything for your pet, I highly recommend stopping by Howl To The Chief. Great locally-owned company!

DC Petropolis
1408 9th St NW, WashingtonIf I could give Gabi and the DC Petropolis team a million stars I would! DC Petropolis is seriously amazing and special. My pup Ziggy first came in for 4 socialization sessions to get used to the environment of the grooming salon. This is a very unique policy of Gabi’s but it has been wonderful for Ziggy who now feels comfortable and even excited going to the groomer’s. Gabi made me and Ziggy feel so comfortable and welcome from our very first meeting. I trust her completely with my pup because I know she and her team genuinely care for and love all of their clients. Beyond going the extra mile to make the grooming experience a positive one, they are also fantastically skilled. Ziggy always leaves the salon looking and smelling amazing. I cannot recommend DC Petropolis more highly. Thank you, Gabi and team!

Pet Care

Veterinary Emergency Group
2311 M St NW, WashingtonIf it weren't for the fine folks at VEG, I don't think that our dog would be here right now.
We had a scary and super sudden health event that required immediate intervention - we called ahead to let them know that we were coming and they had someone attending to her before I had even parked our car. They were busy too! I saw at least 3 other pets ahead of us so that shows how well they triage.
They kept our dog for several days so that they could monitor her progress. We would get updates every morning (and would've probably received them in the evenings as well if we weren't already there). Visiting hours are 24/7 so you can visit your pets as you please. They're open and transparent about what they're doing, what kind of drugs they're administrating, what they plan to do, and what they recommend doing. The staff are friendly and clearly care for their patients.
Do be aware that you have to pay the full cost upfront - you'll be refunded for any services not rendered. The quality of care that you get is top notch.

Dupont Veterinary Clinic
2022 P St NW, WashingtonToday we took our dog Luna to the veterinarian, Dr. Logan Murray, and we had such a great experience. My husband and I live in Georgetown, and we had trouble finding a good vet for a long time — but we finally found DuPont Veterinary Clinic, and they were amazing.
Dr. Logan Murray is a genuinely kind and caring person. He treated Luna so gently and patiently, and Luna was very well-behaved thanks to how comfortable he made her feel. The examination was very thorough, and while discussing which vaccines Luna needed, he was extremely honest. If something wasn’t necessary for her, he said so and never tried to push extra services or take our money. That level of honesty really means a lot to us.
The assistants working there were also amazing — very professional, attentive, and kind. The clinic was spotless and very clean. This was our first time visiting, and we’re pretty sure this will be our regular vet from now on. Even the treats they gave Luna were great!
Thank you so much for everything. We highly recommend Dr. Logan Murray and DuPont Veterinary Clinic.

Adams Morgan Animal Hospital
2112 18th St NW #1, WashingtonFive stars, without hesitation.
Adams Morgan Animal Hospital was Bruno’s (Boston Terrier, currently 10 years old) very first vet as a puppy, and looking back, it is clear how much that early experience mattered. We now live in California and every vet tech we see consistently comments on how calm, easygoing, and cooperative Bruno is during visits.
I genuinely believe that temperament was shaped by the positive, caring environment he experienced at Adams Morgan Animal Hospital early on.
When we lived in Washington, DC, we would walk past Adams Morgan Animal Hospital regularly, and Bruno would happily pull toward the front door as if he was excited to go inside.
If you are looking for a vet who creates a truly positive experience for animals, especially dogs, I cannot recommend Adams Morgan Animal Hospital highly enough.

Crumbs & Whiskers | Kitten & Cat Cafe.
3109 M St NW, WashingtonI absolutely love Crumbs & Whiskers! I used to come here all the time in college and I would bring my laptop to just sit and study or do homework while cats walked all over and around me. It was soooo cute! I’ve visited their new(er) location on M street a few times and that’s where I was blessed with my best baby boy, Timmy! All the cats were just wonderful but I worked with someone at Homeward Trials who recommended three different cats that would be good companions for my current cat (whose best friend had just passed away a few months earlier). They told me that this kitten named Timmy would probably be a good fit so I went to C&W two days in a row to scope everyone out and see who might fit into our little family. Timmy turned out to be an absolute angel so I applied and was able to pick him up about a week or two later! Timmy and Taylor have been the best brothers ever since!
If you’re looking to adopt a cat, I HIGHLY recommend looking at those at Crumbs & Whiskers. I believe the constant human interaction and interaction with other cats makes them very personable and kind. Timmy LOVES strangers and is always ready to cuddle and even waits for me to get home from work. 10/10.
Some people are giving bad reviews because the food and drink come from another store inside of INSIDE the cafe. Those people are confused/mistaken. They can’t made the food and drinks in the cafe itself because there are cats everywhere..
