Howl To the Chief
719 8th St SE, WashingtonI've been a loyal customer of Howl To The Chief for over six years, ever since my dog was a puppy. I can't say enough good things about this place. The customer service is always friendly and genuinely caring about the well-being of your pets. Their products are great quality, from food to toys to grooming supplies. And their baked goods are the best! My pup goes crazy for them. The best part of HTTC is their fantastic rewards program on pet food. It's a great way to save on future purchases and shows that they value their customers' loyalty. If you're in the area and need anything for your pet, I highly recommend stopping by Howl To The Chief. Great locally-owned company!

DC Petropolis
1408 9th St NW, WashingtonIf I could give Gabi and the DC Petropolis team a million stars I would! DC Petropolis is seriously amazing and special. My pup Ziggy first came in for 4 socialization sessions to get used to the environment of the grooming salon. This is a very unique policy of Gabi’s but it has been wonderful for Ziggy who now feels comfortable and even excited going to the groomer’s. Gabi made me and Ziggy feel so comfortable and welcome from our very first meeting. I trust her completely with my pup because I know she and her team genuinely care for and love all of their clients. Beyond going the extra mile to make the grooming experience a positive one, they are also fantastically skilled. Ziggy always leaves the salon looking and smelling amazing. I cannot recommend DC Petropolis more highly. Thank you, Gabi and team!

Masterpiece Canine Spa
1642 R St NW, WashingtonA true five star experience. I was so nervous to bring my rescue for his first groom and Abby immediately put me at ease. Every single step of the process was transparent, from the complimentary consultation onward. Theo was immediately comfortable with Lauren, who did a phenomenal job finding the Scottie under 10 months worth of fur! Communication throughout was unparalleled. For me, not having to leave my dog at a groomer for six plus hours, wondering how they’re doing and struggling to get in touch to figure out when they might be done, is of the utmost importance. Masterpiece is the only groomer in the area that assuages these concerns. It’s clear that Abby, Lauren, and the rest of the team take a lot of pride in what they do and truly have the best interest of the dogs in mind. Thank you all for making Theo’s first groom such a positive one!
To address a concern in other reviews—I believe, sincerely, the pricing at Masterpiece is extremely reasonable for the services provided. I have yet to find another groomer in the DMV that provides a dedicated appointment time to one dog, texts questions and concerns immediately, and can also expertly craft a breed standard cut. You get what you pay for, and if you want personalized attention and professional quality, this is the price!

Pet Care

Veterinary Emergency Group
2311 M St NW, WashingtonIf it weren't for the fine folks at VEG, I don't think that our dog would be here right now.
We had a scary and super sudden health event that required immediate intervention - we called ahead to let them know that we were coming and they had someone attending to her before I had even parked our car. They were busy too! I saw at least 3 other pets ahead of us so that shows how well they triage.
They kept our dog for several days so that they could monitor her progress. We would get updates every morning (and would've probably received them in the evenings as well if we weren't already there). Visiting hours are 24/7 so you can visit your pets as you please. They're open and transparent about what they're doing, what kind of drugs they're administrating, what they plan to do, and what they recommend doing. The staff are friendly and clearly care for their patients.
Do be aware that you have to pay the full cost upfront - you'll be refunded for any services not rendered. The quality of care that you get is top notch.

Dupont Veterinary Clinic
2022 P St NW, WashingtonToday we took our dog Luna to the veterinarian, Dr. Logan Murray, and we had such a great experience. My husband and I live in Georgetown, and we had trouble finding a good vet for a long time — but we finally found DuPont Veterinary Clinic, and they were amazing.
Dr. Logan Murray is a genuinely kind and caring person. He treated Luna so gently and patiently, and Luna was very well-behaved thanks to how comfortable he made her feel. The examination was very thorough, and while discussing which vaccines Luna needed, he was extremely honest. If something wasn’t necessary for her, he said so and never tried to push extra services or take our money. That level of honesty really means a lot to us.
The assistants working there were also amazing — very professional, attentive, and kind. The clinic was spotless and very clean. This was our first time visiting, and we’re pretty sure this will be our regular vet from now on. Even the treats they gave Luna were great!
Thank you so much for everything. We highly recommend Dr. Logan Murray and DuPont Veterinary Clinic.

Adams Morgan Animal Hospital
2112 18th St NW #1, WashingtonFive stars, without hesitation.
Adams Morgan Animal Hospital was Bruno’s (Boston Terrier, currently 10 years old) very first vet as a puppy, and looking back, it is clear how much that early experience mattered. We now live in California and every vet tech we see consistently comments on how calm, easygoing, and cooperative Bruno is during visits.
I genuinely believe that temperament was shaped by the positive, caring environment he experienced at Adams Morgan Animal Hospital early on.
When we lived in Washington, DC, we would walk past Adams Morgan Animal Hospital regularly, and Bruno would happily pull toward the front door as if he was excited to go inside.
If you are looking for a vet who creates a truly positive experience for animals, especially dogs, I cannot recommend Adams Morgan Animal Hospital highly enough.

Recently my husband and I hosted a party at Nina May. We discovered this venue online and chose it for our event because we loved the menu choices, atmosphere, and also because it is an independent local business. Event Coordinator Teodora was very helpful regarding all my inquiries and though I was making arrangements long distance, I felt assured that our event would be successful. Ultimately it was beyond our best expectations.
Our 30 guests thoroughly enjoyed the creatively prepared food and drink, all presented in such a lovely way. The professional staff welcomed us warmly and attentively cared for us throughout the evening. My husband and I were able to relax and socialize without concerns about the finer details. We received many compliments from our guests for having chosen a fantastic venue.

Nino's Bakery
1310 L St NW #100, WashingtonThis cute bakery nestled in the heart of DC was everything I look for in a cafe. My go-to order at cafes is a decaf cappuccino and a croissant. Here they had oat milk, which I opted for. The staff were friendly yet efficient. They had a pistachio croissant that I had seen pictures of on other reviews, so I decided to try it. I took my cappuccino and pistachio croissant outside to one of their three small tables (they did have minimal indoor seating but it was quite cramped inside). That was one of the best croissants I’ve ever tasted. The outside was buttery and flaky. The inside was slightly chewy and filled with a rich pistachio cream. Divine. The cappuccino was delicious as well — well worth coming back for just that, let alone the heavenly pastry. 100000/10, definitely come check this place out!
