We were here visiting for a few weeks and our puppy really needed a haircut. From the initial inquiry for an appointment they were welcoming and professional. Lots of questions before grooming him about him and what we were looking for and he looked happy and handsome when we picked him up. I live 1000 miles away and would come back to these spectacular, talented and welcoming people. We will surely see them all again. I can’t recommend them highly enough! Thank you Scallywag friends!

Amelia Pointe Veterinary Services
474256 E State Rd 200, Fernandina BeachI am new to the area and I was nervous on finding a vet for my dog, because he has to wear a muzzle🥺. And I found Dr. Branch and his staff. Our very first visit was a breeze and super easy for my dog Maxy. I was overwhelmed how quickly he worked on Maxy. He is a no nonsense doctor and gives you all the choices. I highly recommend this veterinarian and his staff. I am glad I found a caring professional doctor for my dog and cat.
A year later Maxy, my dog died from using Credelio Quattro. I switched his heart prevention from Interceptor 3. His first 3 doses went well. Then he started having side effects. It was always 4 to 5 hours later. Here are the signs. Paralysis of the lower half. Diarrhea (lots) after the dose. Stops eating and becomes a difficult eater. His very last dose he vomitted for many hours. Then he did not eat for 3 days. Then tongue thrusting like something caught in his throat. Then the seizures and death. Please research all drugs before using on your dog. I hope this helps other dogs.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Hola Cuban Cafe
31 South 5th Street, Fernandina Beach“Hola” (Spanish for Hello) is a family-owned Cuban restaurant located in the historic Fernandina Beach. My wife and I have been frequenting this establishment for several years, and each visit has been met with exceptional Cuban cuisine.
Recently, we had the opportunity to meet Marisol, the co-owner of the restaurant. Marisol shared insights into the challenges faced during the restaurant’s inception. She also informed us that the restaurant opened its doors in 2013, and the building itself was constructed in 1901. Upon entering the restaurant, patrons are immediately captivated by its distinctive decor. Marisol revealed that the tables and other furnishings are predominantly crafted by local artists. A sense of Old Cuba nostalgia permeates the ambiance, complemented by a delectable and authentic Cuban menu.
“Barriga llena, corazón contento” serves as Marisol’s business motto, which translates to “A full belly makes a happy heart.” Indeed, a contented heart is the sentiment that patrons leave with after savoring the restaurant’s delectable offerings. Hola presents a diverse menu featuring Cuban comfort food. From traditional tostadas to Cuban sandwiches of various varieties, roast pork platters, croquettes, empanadas, and traditional Cuban desserts such as churros and pastelitos, the menu caters to diverse palates.
My wife and I recently indulged in the “croqueta preparada” sandwich, a Cuban Sandwich featuring ham, chicken, or cheese croquettes. We were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the exceptional taste. Naturally, no Cuban restaurant would be complete without offering Cuban coffee. Hola provides a comprehensive selection of traditional Cuban coffee options, including cafecito, café con leche, cortadito, and coladas. Whole milk alternatives, such as almond or oat milk, are available for those with specific preferences. Beverages like sodas, wine, and beer are also on the menu.
The restaurant has a relaxed and familial atmosphere. The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Patrons have the option to dine indoors, on the patio, or in the courtyard. In summary, Hola is highly recommended for those visiting the historic Fernandina Beach area and seeking an authentic Cuban culinary experience.

The Happy Tomato Courtyard Café & BBQ
7 South 3rd Street, Fernandina BeachDon't miss Happy Tomato Courtyard and Cafe on 3rd Street downtown Fernandina. The food is excellent, they have a small cooled indoor eat space and a huge outdoor courtyard. Dogs are welcome, parking on 3rd Street a breeze. They even have a cat in residence, Bartholomew! Highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich with home made pimento cheese, absolutely delicious! The trio salad with tuna, chicken and pimento cheese on lettuce with tomato and boiled egg is a lovely plate. We also had a chance to taste the shrimp salad which was also delicious. The salads tasted just like my mom had made them! Everyone is quite friendly, Allison greeted us with a big hello, as did everyone. A really nice reasonably priced lunch in a very nice atmosphere! Well done!!
