“I wanted to share my experience today because, although it did not start off well, Halley completely turned it around for me.
When I first came in, there was an employee in uniform speaking with a couple of customers. I understood that she was assisting them, so I waited patiently. However, as their conversation appeared to be wrapping up, I expected that at some point I would at least be acknowledged.
That never happened.
I was clearly looking around as someone who was unfamiliar with the store and needed assistance. The employee walked past me without saying hello, asking if I needed help, or even acknowledging that I was there. She eventually went toward the register area and continued interacting with other customers, while I remained standing there waiting for assistance.
I don’t expect an employee to immediately drop what they’re doing when another customer walks in. I do, however, believe that a simple “Hello, I’ll be with you shortly” or “Let me know if you need any help” is basic customer service. Unfortunately, I was left with the very strong impression that this employee simply did not want to assist me.
Then Halley came inside from the nursery area.
She immediately made eye contact with me, greeted me warmly, and asked how I was doing. That small gesture completely changed the tone of my visit.
I explained that I was looking for a particular plant because my mother passed away, and I am trying to replace a special plant that was originally given to our family in her honor. Halley listened to me, treated me with kindness, and genuinely tried to help.
She even gave me a card and told me to email her with information about what I was looking for so she could help me find the right plant.
THAT is customer service.
I want to make sure Halley receives recognition because she turned what was quickly becoming another disappointing experience into a positive one. I had actually just left another nursery after an unpleasant experience there, so being ignored when I first arrived here was particularly discouraging. Halley had no way of knowing any of that when she first saw me. She simply saw a customer, acknowledged me, welcomed me, and offered to help.
I’m sharing the negative portion of my experience not to attack anyone, but because I believe management should be aware of how customers are being received. No customer should have to wonder whether an employee wants to help them or feel as though they need to chase someone down or beg to be acknowledged.
I’m also sharing the positive portion because employees like Halley deserve to be recognized. Her kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help are the reason I left feeling completely different about this business than I did when I first walked in.

“My husband and I were looking for Italian style terra-cotta planters for our patio and hoped we might find something here having never been. We arrived early around 10:30AM on a Sunday and the garden was locked, we had to go inside and request to enter it but we were very readily greeted and quickly guided over with someone who could open the gate for us. What an incredible selection! And incredibly priced! We immediately found what we were looking for and were concerned because no pricing was available. He called over to his manager and got us an incredible price! We are already making plans to come back and buy more!”

“This Homedepot store is well maintained and stocked. I was greeted by an associate who was hauling the carts inside when I entered the store. The associates here are very helpful. I visited the paint section in particular looking for fence stain and the associate was very helpful, located 5 gallon buckets and mixed the stain for me. As the stain was 20$ more here compared to Cascade Store (which did not have the same Behr Premium stain), the associate at the check out lane gave me the price match, no hassle, plus applied a coupon I had for credit card! Amazing customer service and truly the associates went above and beyond in provinding the service! Hats off!”
