“Located in the Koolau area, across from Valley of the Temples, this is similar to the other Times Supermarket setup. There is a small section for Japanese food and other Asian food. There is no self checkout, only regular checkout lines. Overall okay place to buy groceries.”
“Always a good time to stop and shop! Get there earlier in the day if you want to have a good selection of fresh poke. The furikake pork rinds are great to add to the basket with fresh poke as well. Good bakery. Always a good selection of local fruit options. They have everything you may need and then some.”
“Best plain musubis on the entire island. For those that don't kno, musubis are most commonly made with a slice of spam on top of rice, and wrapped with a strip of nori (seaweed.) They don't make them to order, but they off the shelves and are almost always hot. Many stores sell theirs with some kind of sauce with too much or too little rice. Kaneohe gets the saltiness of the spam to rice ration right, every time.
Growing up and living in Kaneohe, I've been a patron of this store for a long time. The owners are Korean and always smile, except for the uncles. But, once you get to kno them, you find out that they have an incredible sense of humor.
They offer just about everything you could want from a convenience ?!”
“Went for 1 item, wasn't sure if they would carry the product. The angels were with me because despite crazy drivers, ridiculous rain and absurd winds, I was able to purchase this item without a problem. Oh, and for the first time I paid contactless ..... super weird but oddly satisfying.”
“November 5 - 12, 2022 - This was a special birthday trip that my son surprised me with. He also wanted to surprise his grandparents, and his uncle surprised us all. We all live in Vegas and we went home for a surprise visit. I grew up in Kaneohe and so happy to see that there were very little changes to this store. Our mission was poke, poi and raw crab, and just the taste that is not the same in Vegas. I definitely got all three. The last time we went to Times on this trip, I told my son I will walk in the store and probably know someone, lol and I did run into someone I knew. It's always nice to run into people you haven't seen in years. I liked the seafood counter and how everything looked so good. There was also a Japanese section with lots of goodies. Walking into this store it always feels like home. It gives you a comforting feeling. The one thing that was really different was that plastic grocery bags aren't used, I guess if you do get them you have to pay for them. The atmosphere is always welcoming when you walk in the door. If your in Kaneohe, stop on in and get you some delicious Poke to enjoy and all the other yumminess you can find at the Seafood Counter.”
“The store recently completed a reorganization and it looks great. The aisles are wider, the produce department is welcoming and the freezer section seems larger. All good stuff for shoppers!”
“I really like this quaint neighborhood market, owned and operated by some wonderful people. They always humor me when I botch my "Agnianeseo" snd "Kamsahamnida" in my atrocious Uh-merican accent! They are limited on fresh produce, etc, but I can usually find what I need in last minute barbecue supplies, etc. Sometimes I just like to swing by just for the company and to say hi. Definitely a neighborhood place as I doubt they serve anyone outside of the Kokokahi housing area. Always a pleasure coming here. Mahalo for reading my review.”
“Safeway was always my place to go shopping for all food products, healthy foods, house, kitchen ware, hair products. Most Safeways have a customer booth and I think most have some sort of banking, all have ATM' s and thank God one of the few that packages and rings up your items. I am sorry to say that it is not my 1st place store to go to for shopping due to the price increases throughout the years. If you are on a small monthly budget it is not really a good place to do all your food shopping. I do love their $5 dollar Fridays but think they should have more options with that. I do still run in for specialized items I love from their stores. Especially when it comes to holidays. I know they all have their own florist section next to the cakes and pies so you could even make a complete party for any occasion shopping in Safeway. You will pay a higher price but if it's a one place go to for parties supplies then hi there instead of having to run around to many different places to get the complete package. The store is also very clean compared to other food shopping establishments I've been too. It can be crowded especially on Fridays and football season for snacks and sport patties.Aloha”
“If you want “real Hawaiian” food, we were directed to this place . A roadside side stand that you might miss if you weren’t looking for it. But the line of customers showed how popular the place is. You eat on picnic table beside the road with chickens running around.
Service was fast and friendly.
We tried the beef luau. We were concerned when we saw it, not appealing to look at but very good, as was the Kalua Pig (basically pulled pork). The ice cream was excellent. We might stop there just for that next time we drive up to the north shore.”
