O'z Kitchen
79-7552 Mamalahoa Hwy, KealakekuaWe got the beef bowl and some shave ice and it was so good we decided to get more to go (Curry rice and Spam Musubi) and let me tell you, this place is soo good. Best Japanese Curry I’ve ever had possibly. The seating area had some friendly cats and hens roaming around which honestly added to the experience!

Gypsea Gelato
79-7491 Hawaiʻi Belt Rd, KealakekuaVanilla Mac nut is hands down my favorite. The Mac nuts are very quiet but definitely there and paired with vanilla it takes on this sweet and soft nuttyness.

Parrots in Paradise
81-6442 Punana Road, KealakekuaI had the pleasure of visiting Parrots in Paradise this week with my parents, and it was truly a special experience.
The sanctuary itself is set on a stunning ten-acre property with sweeping ocean views—peaceful, beautiful, and clearly a place created with care and intention. Gerald and his mom, Dorothy, run the sanctuary, and you can feel their heart in everything they do.
Gerald led our guided tour and completely impressed us. His knowledge is extensive, but what stood out even more was his deep, personal connection to each of the 100+ parrots in his care. He shared the unique stories behind many of the birds and helped us understand just how emotionally sensitive and intelligent parrots are. It was both educational and genuinely moving.
The highlight of the tour was being invited into one of the enclosures, where we were able to take photos with parrots perched on our shoulders—an unforgettable moment for all of us.
This is not just a tour, it’s an experience rooted in respect, compassion, and love for these incredible birds. I would absolutely recommend Parrots in Paradise to anyone looking for something meaningful and memorable.
