The Fish And The Hog
64-957 Hawaiʻi Belt Rd, WaimeaThis was an unexpected dream come true for me. Coming from New Zealand, I’d always wanted to experience a quintessential rural American BBQ, and this was exactly that. The lady who greeted us was incredibly sweet, our waiter Ben was excellent, the food was amazing, the drinks were great, and the banana cream pie is something we will remember forever.
The drive up from Kona felt as though we’d crossed into another country. Watching the landscape change as we climbed into the hills was fascinating in its own right.
10/10 for the entire experience. It was one of the highlights of my multi-island Hawaii trip.

JoJo's Shave Ice
9734 Kaumualii Hwy, WaimeaI had such a fun time stopping here for a treat. The flavors are really refreshing and it is honestly the perfect thing to have on a hot day. The texture is great and it feels like a really authentic local experience. It was a nice, quick stop that really added to my day, and I would definitely come back to try more flavor combinations next time.

Red Barn
67-139 Pukalani Rd, WaimeaI've been coming to the farmers market for a few months now and my first stop is always to put an order in at the Red Barn food truck. They have gluten free bread and the way they grill their grilled cheese sandwiches is next level. Even if the menu option doesn't come with tomato soup, I have it added on. There's nothin like dipping a cheesy sando into that soup and finishing it off with a tangy bite of a pickle and some kettle chips. Brings me back to childhood. The staff is always smiling and happy. And the location might as well be a slice of heaven.

Pele Plantations: 100% Organic Kona Coffee
65-1158 Mamalahoa Hwy #20, WaimeaRecently I purchased another brand of coffee beans to support a great mission and see if my Kona addiction was real. Although I enjoyed the other coffee, I didn’t realize how much of a Kona fan I was until I brewed the first pot of Pele Plantation coffee after drinking the other coffee for a few weeks. What a difference.Everyone who drinks coffee at my house loves it but most are not willing to make the investment in perfect beans. They wonder why my coffee is so good. It all starts with the Pele Plantation beans. They are never bitter and are always smooth.

Waimea Coffee Company
65-1279 Kawaihae Rd, WaimeaGreat iced coffee and breakfast bagel, but the burrito was absolutely the best! We also tried one of their baked goods (a peach bar), and it was amazing. Super friendly service, though I believe the breakfast items are made from scratch, so plan for a few minutes to get your food not grab and go.
We were there early on a Sunday so it was pretty quiet. We sat outside on the patio listening to someone across the courtyard play guitar. Quite idyllic!
