“Very nice staff who have helped me on numerous occasions since I bought my first home down the street about a year ago. I’ve had a number of projects where it’s my first time trying to fix or replace something and they’ve always patiently walked me through everything and answered my questions. They’re also very dog friendly and my dog knows when we’re getting close and starts walking faster so he can get all the attention from the staff he loves.
Great neighborhood store and so glad I moved in near them. It’s great being able to walk 5 minutes and get everything you need for a home project.”
“Wasn’t a believer until I bought a 13 dollar belt sander years ago and hoped it would last me a project or two. I think I may have to donate it if I ever want to be in need of buying another one.
The staff here is one of the best locations I’ve been too. I prefer it over Hanover park and Cary, the staff always makes sure your getting the best deal possible and is super friendly with answers. Probably the best place I’ve been to if you ever need a random tool to make that next project easier. Also they have a lot of tools that may normally only be available at a premium price point and the DIY’re the solution they provide is great.
Their products and easy customer service make me reminisce about the good old days of well built, inexpensive tools, that carried a lifetime or long term warranty.
I just bought an oscillating spindle/belt sander that is 99% the same guts as a Rigid for 4-5x the price. Never thought I’d own a luxury sanding item like that for the shop but I got that and a cart full of tools for less than the cost of one at the big orange store.
Oh also people like to harp on the “imported quality” where do you think everyone else comes from? You’re paying for a brand, up until recently the Hercules lineup of tools actually had Samsung sourced battery cells being utilized. I don’t think most people at this stage of the game think Samsung doesn’t know what they are doing when it comes to electronics.”
“They are so knowledgeable and always help me to find the perfect hardware. I always bring either a cabinet door or a handle I removed to make sure I get the right size. If you can't find what you are looking for there you won't find it anywhere.”
“This is one of the best Ace I have been to. The employees try to help to the best of their knowledge. Always friendly and even in a power outage, they are their to help everyone.”
“I have to say this is hands down the best best Landscaping Equipment Dealer I've ever delt with in the 23 years I've down Commercial and Residential Landscaping...Danny Anderson has helped us out multiple times after my Echo addiction has lead me down a road of no return now that I've bought $6000 in Trimmers, Blowers, Multi-Tool Head and Attachments, Pole Saws and more to come!! My only supplier now for all my equipment needs is Arlington Power Equipment via Danny Anderson...”
“Came here looking for a mantle. Pat showed us around, explained sizes and finishes to us. Let us look around and once we found one we thought was perfect for our home, he answered our questions, had the wood cut to size, checked us out, and loaded it up into our car for us. The different types of wood and decor they have here are vintage and beautiful. Service here was exceptional. We will definitely be back for our future needs.”
“Well, it's Ace Hardware... It's not like the Ace Hardware of years gone by. Like most retail establishments, the employees don't seem as knowledgeable as they did years ago. But, they do have a good enough selection to get you through any kind of household emergency that you might run into. It's a little pricier than, say a Menards or Home Depot; but, it is convenient. So, you might pay a little more; but, it costs you less in gas than to drive to Menards or Home Depot, so in the long run, it's not really any more expensive.
I was going to give them 5 stars; but, their employees are about as knowledgeable as the people working at Menards or Home Depot. That is, they know where to find something in the store; but, most of them don't know what half the stuff they sell is for, or how it's used. Just my observation.”
“Chris was a wonderful help with the pack rack that I purchased on this trip and for letting me know more information about the table saw and router table I will be purchasing soon. It was definitely well worth the trip.”
“Today, I visited Ace Hardware in order to obtain a key for my recently purchased used vehicle and a house key as my current one is on the verge of breaking. I would like to express my gratitude towards Lisa. Despite being ready to finish her shift for the day, she went above and beyond to assist me. She stayed back, ensuring that I had everything I required. Her exceptional help, patience, and dedication did not go unnoticed. I am thankful for this outstanding service and will definitely be returning to this store more frequently. Thank you, Lisa, for your exceptional effort.”
“When my brother's trailer broke down near the Indiana border, the only store within 2 hours that was still open until 9pm was this Tractor Supply. He called an associate at the store and they found the leaf spring he needed. They were willing to stay a little after closing time if needed so we could make the long trip there to pick it up. We cannot express enough our appreciation for this store's associate for going the extra mile for us during an emergency!”
“Needed a few things for the house, late in the evening. Ordered them online, and stopped in and picked them up lightning fast. Friendly folks, very helpful. They probably have what you need, and good advice. Recommended.”
“I had a special loom project hook that broke and couldn’t find a replacement. Ryan Shin helped me find the right metal and even helped form and cut to the size I needed for a perfect replacement! Thanks so much for the amazing customer service!”
“I was sorry to see Casper's leave but happy so far with ACE.
Friendly workers and generally have the items you need for your home projects.
Always happy to shop at smaller, home. town styled businesses.
Please give this hardware store a chance before H.D.”
“Employees are very nice and helpful when you need them.
This place is a toy store for anyone who works with their hands, whether it be professionally, DIY, or as a hobby..”
“Mick was super helpful in picking out the right paint I needed for a project. He was friendly, knowledgeable and even gave me some tips which really helped me. Grateful for him and his service.”
“I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to the young man Sean in the lawn equipment area. Not only did he answer all of our questions in our time of need during a power outage but he helped myself and my wife load up other items we would’ve forgotten. BIG Kudos to this gentleman!”

“Tom at the Lake Zurich Rental center really helped me out. I was planning on renting a sewer rodding machine because my shower was backing up. After listening to my issue tom suggested the issue was in my septic field. Turns out I took the cover off and the tank was totally full. Tom chose to help me solve my problem over the phone instead of just trying to rent me a piece of equipment. I will think of this rental department whenever I need another tool to rent. Thanks again TOM!”
“The customer service Rep Lata Rao was extremely helpful and ordering was easy. I’m very pleased with my product. Will definitely order again. I had a great experience with Koffler. We order furniture corner gaurds and requested custom cut....All done very well.”
“Great service, helpful and knowledgeable people, competitive prices. A great “go to” when you need to get projects done. What you need is in stock and immediately available. The staff knows the projects in their department and will help when a project crosses over multiple departments. They also know the latest products available and can inform and demonstrate them. Way better than your father’s hardware store. The team at the Palatine store is outstanding.”
“The place to go when you need common annuals, bushes, or trees. Great sales after the main planting season has passed.
Also the place for Simpson Strong Tie connectors which are the thing to use in construction.
They also carry manila rope handy for lashings projects.”
“I was very impressed with the selection, display and of course the prices. Very worth the drive from the city. Left with the perfect couch and the customer service was on point!”
“I’ve been a life-long Home Depot customer and they’ve earned my trust and loyalty. Nothing but amazing things happening at this local Palatine Home Depot! They really embody “How Doers Get More Done. You can do it. We can help” mindset. I don’t believe there was ever a time I came in and they didn’t have what I was looking for or HELPED ME by any means get what I needed.
Note to MANAGEMENT: Sadly though, I had to report a concerning experience I had with COREY in the Plumbing department. I came into the store looking for an adapter for a new shower head I was installing. Corey approached me and offered his help, which I accepted. Without checking inventory or offering to look further, he immediately stated, “We don’t have it here. Try buying from the manufacturer.” This response was both dismissive, super unhelpful, and highly inconvenient. Based on prior positive visits at this store, I found it surprising that no effort was made on Corey’s part to verify availability, other than “try somewhere else.” After Corey walked away, I continued exploring on my own. It took me 20 minutes, but eventually I located the exact adapter I needed that was in-stock!! It was a perfect fit! What was Corey talking about? Did he not want to truly help? Or was he inexperienced and should not be working in plumbing?
Also, while I was testing fittings, I observed and overheard multiple other customers approach Corey for assistance. On every single occasion, I heard him respond with the same statement he gave me moments ago: “We don’t have it here, try elsewhere.” This pattern suggests a lack of effort to assist customers and raises serious concerns about potential lost sales and diminished customer experience. I’m a business owner and thats bad for any business. I truly value Home Depot’s expertise and typically receive excellent service from other employees. However, this first-time interaction with Corey demonstrated poor customer service, unhelpfulness, and blatant misrepresentation of product availability. You would think they want to do everything possible to keep my business, not the exact opposite and send me and many others away. I’m glad I ultimately found what I needed, but the store nearly lost my business due to this experience. Can you image how many hundreds or thousands of dollars this business lost?
I hope this feedback helps improve service standards moving forward.”
“VS menards well stocked but what sets it apart is it's employees are every where and most knowledgeable. Most are from a trade which is invaluable! Plus being a vet i don't have to jump through hoops mailing in receipt or as they count on it forgetting to get 10% off. Do not like current return policy. Even if they stock item you can't even get a store credit if over i guess 30/35$. Unless you have the credit card or receipt. If I kept every receipt I'd need a accountant!”

“Everything I have ordered from this company has been delivered in a timely manner. Whenever I have had problems with a tool, they have always repaired them at minimal charge. I would recommend Allen Staple.”
“Came in last week with my wife looking for some indoor plants and had a great experience at Lowe’s. We were helped by a wonderful employee named Sue who was incredibly sweet, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable about the plants. She took the time to answer our questions and made the whole visit enjoyable. Sue is truly a treasure and a great representative of Lowe’s!”
“It’s rare these days to be greeted by friendly staff in a hardware store. Instead of shopping at big box stores, I’ve started coming here more frequently because I truly feel valued as a customer. While the prices may not always be the lowest, they’re competitive enough, and the service more than makes up for it. The employees are always helpful, guiding me to exactly what I need. For projects I’m not completely sure about, they point me in the right direction every time. If you live in the neighborhood, I encourage you to support local businesses—it’s the right thing to do.”
“I came into purchase some specialty small screws and the people that I talked to really didn't know what I was talking about. Fortunately Jim who I'm sure has been there a long time knew exactly what I needed and found them within minutes.
If I owned this store I would ensure that I keep Jim on board because the rest of the crew is extremely inexperienced in hardware stores”
