“LOVE Salsa's!!! Fantastic tamales, coffee, sandwiches, fruit, and they really have everything you need. I get tamales almost every week. Everyone's super nice too.”
“Best sandwich in town, in my humble opinion. The line out the door each day proves I'm not the only one! Pro Tip: order ahead online and avoid the wait :-)”
“Obsessed with this place. They have just about everything you can think of. If I’m running to the store it’s to this one. Also love the panini and nachos. Customer service here is top notch they know their inventory and are super friendly.”
“Kol Tuv is a hidden gem on Devon Ave in Chicago. It is a specialty grocery store that carries an eclectic variety of foods that cater to all different populations. They have all the items you would find in a typical grocery store plus gluten free, dairy free, kosher, gourmet etc. When you go, you must check out the selection of chocolates and candies. The staff is friendly and helpful and the store is immaculate. This store makes grocery shopping fun and exciting! Hope you love it as much as we do!”
“Amazing store very exotic choices that you would not see in any daily store. My girlfriend and I were lost and the man behind the register was very kind and helped towards us and guided us to where we needed to be.”
“Nice zero waste store with a lot of dry staples. Be careful because there's honey or beeswax in a lot of staff sold here. Lot of things are super expensive for what they are too, like tiny little lotion sticks for $20. Feels like you're getting kinda ripped off despite reducing waste for some things? Dry goods section is good though and you can bring your own container for a discount.”
“Best grocery store around! Great produce, great selection of vegan, vegetarian and ethnic products. Perfect size to get on and out quickly and very hard working, knowledgeable and nice employees across the board! This is my primary grocery store.”
“Nice selection of vegan goods and produce. I have occasionally gotten something less than quality in terms of vegetables.
Things to note is they do not take manufacture coupons, and can be a bit pricey for some every day items unfortunately.”
“Good selection of less-common meats and cuts (e.g. lamb shanks, duck, ground venison are things I've found there) at reasonable prices. It's a good middle ground between the grocery store and specialty butcher.”

“This is the best little shop. They have a great variety of things they always have extra food left over from their pizza place next-door for a discounted price not to mention the customer service is phenomenal. We typically go here often for things cause we live around the corner and everyone is always so friendly even to the point today we ran in to ask for just a plastic bag because we ran out of dog bags outside the shop and he easily gave us one no hesitation 10 out of 10 would recommend supporting this family business”
“Imagine you are trying out a new recipe. This calls for a little bit of a certain spice. Now you can either buy an entire bottle that will gather dust (i.e. start clumping) after a couple uses, or do 'unauthorized modifications' to the recipe. Enter Wild Onion - they have something I've never seen in a grocery store before... you're able to buy spices and some baking needs (e.g. cornmeal) by weight! No more caked up spices or asking mom if you can borrow some cumin, and having her give you the whole bottle anyway. Another area where Wild Onion shines is the sheer volume of local products. It is like a little farmers market in a store. While I understand why these products are more expensive than Kroger's, other products came with some sticker shock. Since Wild Onion is small, it likely won't replace your everyday grocery store. However, it can be an excellent supplement, especially if you're looking for something locally grown/made (in the case of bread), or just a bit of a spice. Final note, while interaction has been limited, service was refreshingly kind and welcoming. Thus, Wild Onion won't make it into my regular rotation, but when I need something a little extra special or specific, it will be the first place I go.”
“I often come to Olivia’s Market for a quick lunch, and I must say…. 10/10! Today was a chilly day in Chicago, and I was craving some S O U P ! All their soups are delicious. Had their tomato soup w/ their Ava’s bread ! Yum!
P.s. this is a great place to pick up flowers for your loved ones. They have definitely helped me get on the good side of a few my ex’s haha”
“Amazingly fresh & high quality produce. Blows the Jewel and Mariano’s out of the water in terms of quality. Great selection of local & organic breads, mushrooms, and snacks.”
“I love this place. The parking lot is not that big, but the market itself is significant. There's an entire housewares section, a mandu stand, and everything else you'd expect at a grocery store. There's a variety of fruits, veggies, fish, meats, and frozen foods, all at fantastic prices. Will definitely be coming here regularly.”
“I was skeptical when I odered my bottle of dettol because I could not find it anywhere close to me but I found it online from you guys, not only I got my package a day early the packaging was on point I have no complaints ?”
“I love this Market. I'm excited each week to see what wonderful fruits and vegetables I will receive. I love the fact that I can tailor my order to include items we love or to exclude items my family does not like to eat. It is such an amazing market place that is doing so much to bring fresh nutritious food to areas that need it.”
“Go here now. Legit went in clueless… searching for the perfect steak taco recipe. They helped me with it all! Tenderized the meat, cut it perfectly up so it wasn’t a hassle later on, and they even had chopped up onion and cilantro packaged up. Icing on the cake (taco) was their fresh made salsa! . Thanks for the help! The tacos we made for dinner tonight were delicious!!”
“Seriously the best place ever to buy flowers! They always have a new selection and you can't beat the prices. Perfect stop for last minute hostess gift. You can get flowers, wine and chocolate for 15 bucks if you want! Also, in February and March you have to get the daffodils for 2.99..put them in water and watch them magically bloom in 2 days!”
“Now my usual place to shop. A dozen eggs at the jewel were $6.99 i drove a few blocks and went to Trader Joe's their egg for a dozen were $3.49 and Jumbo were $3.99 sweet!!”
“I am really grateful to have this high quality food and grocer walking distance from my place. There hasn’t been one thing I have ordered that wasn’t terrific.”
“Me y boyfriend stopped by today and I’m glad we did. It’s so cute in there! I love how small it is but there’s a lot of random cute things here. You guys should play some light music! So cute. I love places like this
We got drinks are they are so good!”
““Authentic”-Kielbasa craving???
Look no further than Kurowski.
Never in all my years of shopping here
have I ever found an English-speaking-Polish-Foodie able to describe the differences of the +20 types of
Smoked-Sausages they make here
( & sell here as well).
It is a place that smells as good as it tastes.?
Their Hot Food bar offers a great Polish Lunch selection, as well as the refrigerated display case featuring my fav- a Carrot “Salad”/Slaw w/Raisins, as well as other pickled items and coleslaw.
Sadly, since The Pandemic they’ve stopped selling “bones” inna Blue-Plastic-Barrel.
The piggy bones were great to use for soups or stocks, & my Honduraino buddy literally drooled(& kissed me) over the “trotters”
I gifted him that were pulled-outta that
Blue Barrel.
The southern 1/2 of the stores sells all sorts of non-meat items from European Butter & Cheese to Dill Pickles inna barrel to
Gluten-Free-Breads made w/Sunflower Seeds!
“Pro-Tip”:: For your next picnic ( or cocktail gathering)- may I suggest getting
a few pairs of “Kabonosy” + also request a
2” thick slice (use Sign-Language-to-show-Thickness?) of their Smoked-Gouda Cheese ( pronounced-“How-dah”)>
and b4 your picnic cut into small cubes /slice the Kabonosy into lil bite-sizes> & toothpick-em-together! (Maybe go crazy& skewer a Gherkin on it too!)
(Insiders alert- on the top of
the Stainless counter, over by The scales are broken Kielbasa packaged and sold for
a steep discount)
A bit of Chicago Retail History, this address was formerly the home of “Animal Kingdom”
Pet-Shop.
Wanna Snake?
Wanna Lizard?
Wanna Ocelot?
Turtles-big and small?
Wanna goldfish ( to feed to the Turtle!?)
Even an occasional Capuccian Monkey ?
( think Organ Grinder)
All sorts of legit & questionable live animals used to be sold here
Kurowski Sausage is -
CHICAGO’s VERY OWN!”
“Ukranian grocery store with a pretty great selection of both European and American fare. Baked goods are amazing, fresh meat is very cheap, and produce is always fresh. Staff is very friendly as well.”

“I ordered appetizers from Montrose Deli this past August for my wedding and the cold/appetizer table was absolutely stunning and delicious! Pani Ania goes above and beyond to make sure the presentation is beautiful, the food is perfect and there is much variety. Thank you Montrose Deli and especially Pani Ania for all of your hard work and for making our wedding day truly special!”
“This store is growing on me. I like to support low prices and less monopolistic brands though some of these products are just big brands with different labels. I ordered a bottle of New Zealand water here. Great price and quality!”
“Here’s a corrected version of your text with improved clarity and grammar:
I called before coming in to purchase what I was looking for, and they had it in stock. Great place, great staff, and the store is very clean. They have a lot to offer. I highly recommend this place for grocery shopping!”
“This place was very clean and organized great customer service everything that I like to eat that’s healthy they have today was my first time shopping here I live in Indiana but I will return back to this store soon I’m loving the fresh fruit and the prices are very affordable see yall soon”
“I absolutely love shopping at L’Afrique Market! It has truly become my go-to spot for authentic African groceries and those hard-to-find ingredients right here in Chicago. The selection is fantastic, from fresh produce and flavorful spices to specialty items that bring the comforting tastes of home straight into my kitchen. Everyone at the store offers such friendly and welcoming service, which makes every visit enjoyable.
Each time I stop by, the staff are helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to assist, whether I’m searching for a specific spice or excited to try something new. The store is always clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate, making the entire shopping experience a pleasure with a touch of excellence.
I also truly appreciate how this market supports the community by offering authentic products that reflect the diverse cuisines of Africa and beyond. It’s more than just a grocery store; it feels like a warm cultural hub where everyone is welcome. I highly recommend L’Afrique Market to anyone looking for quality ingredients, great customer service, and a truly unique shopping experience!”
“Look for the cow on the North side of North on the far west side! This bovine marks Serreli's a fantastic Italian Grocery where you find the finest Artichokes, Olives and Anchovies need for a proper Antipasti. A trip to Serelli's would be incomplete with out a sandwich from the deli. The Italian beef has a reputation as one of the best in the city and I agree. Setting Serelli's apart, is a creation known as the Italian Pork sandwich. Shaved pork instead of beef. Pork au jus. The Gardineria is nearly ground to a paste so flavor and heat is distributed evenly across the sandwich.”
“Hyde Park Trader Joe's is a good neighborhood resource. There was once a food collective that occupied the space this store is in. So, Trader Joe's provides the options for produce, dairy, meat, snacks (oodles & oodles of snacks!), wine and various pantry staples (rice. Pasta, soups, et al). The namesake house brand is pretty decent in regards to quality and ingredients. The staff is affable and quick to assist shoppers. Bring your own bags or buy a few Trader Joe's shopping bags to keep in the car or home. Ample free parking in their open air lot.”
