“Love that they are open until 10 pm. We got into town after our favorite restaurants had closed for the evening and needed dinner. We found plenty of vegan food options at the coop. The curried tofu was 5 stars but the other prepared foods we got were underwhelming (tofu scramble burrito and cinnamon bun). Really cool place and bigger than expected. We'll definitely stop here again. Updated from previous review on 2025-08-09”
“The owner of this place is always smiling and he is very welcoming and kind and happy to help you get what you need. So I was very happy to see that he expanded his little store. This place offers Middle Eastern/Mediterranean, Indian, and African groceries, spices, veggies, frozen foods, etc. Their Halal meats are good and I personally purchase their lamb and beef. I like that the owner is knowledgeable of his products because when I haven’t tried a certain brand of food and ask him about it he will tell me if it truly differs from the brand I know, even if it will convince me to buy the cheaper option. You can call ahead of coming in and ask them to prepare the meat products you want by weight, type, and cut and they will ask for your pick-up time so it is ready to pick-up. This is very convenient if you just want to quickly drop-in.”
“First time at this store. It seemed very clean. The gentleman at the meat counter was very helpful and accommodating. Check out was fast and the lady was very pleasant. She also got my bag of ice for me and carried it out to my car.”

“Quite the gem tucked away here in Iowa City. Al Salam has a decent array of various Middle Eastern Foods and Treats. I've found the pricing to be good and these date cookies are rather delicious. Not to mention the Turkish Olives they import.If you live in town you should stop by and give it a try.”
“I really like Hy-Vee in general. Sure, I know they can be more pricey than some stores, but their quality is good and they have excellent customer service. The waterfront store has a great health food section and one of the better salad bars in the area.”
“3 of the 4 EV car charging cables work in the parking lot (The chargepoint ones). The fourth cable is severed. I like to charge my car while shopping. Since I can not make use of my HY-Vee gas rewards this is as nice incentive to visit the store; the gas rewards are worthless to me since I have an electric car.
The store itself does a good job of making the most of its space. Though there are many cases, there are more store brands than regular brand choices.”

“I haven't had Hyvee breakfast in forever! Yesterday, I stopped in with my youngest daughter so we could eat/hangout between basketball games. I had a veggie skillet with added sausage. The breakfast was just as good as I remembered and staff was awesome!”

“A solid, upstanding gassing experience was had here, by me, on at least a few occasions. The petrol flowed smooth and true. Free air pump to get my tires feeling right. Happy psi, happy husband. They were out of Juul pods when I went inside? Gas stations can't run out of Juul pods. Juul pods are to me what gasoline is to my car.”
